Background
Sahara Mizu was inserted into Konohagakure as a Hidden Mist child operative at the age of five. His original identity was Kaguya Ren, and his initial mission was to assassinate a former Daimyo retainer before using his age and cover identity to enter the Ninja Academy and establish himself as a legitimate Konoha shinobi. 167
For ten years, Mizu supplied Kirigakure with intelligence while serving in Konoha’s Information Agency. His file, registered as Deep Sea 004, was restricted to the Mizukage’s direct secret records, and he was permitted contact with only one high-level Hidden Mist representative at a time. 1
Mizu lived publicly with Sahara Yukie as her older brother, a relationship that helped him integrate into Konoha. Although he initially wanted to return to the Hidden Mist, retire before the Blood Mist era, and live quietly in the Land of Water, his ties to Konoha gradually became genuine. 1 167
After his strength became public, he confronted Sarutobi Hiruzen over the neglect of martyrs’ orphans, including himself and Yukie. He demanded reform and openly stated his ambition to become Hokage. 13
Appearance
Mizu is a handsome, youthful-looking shinobi with clear azure-blue eyes. Even after gaining a reputation as the strongest ninja in the world, his appearance is noted as younger and more childish than his status suggests. 107 115
- Clear blue eyes, often described as bright or sharp when he activates his abilities. 115 117
- Usually maintains a calm, gentle expression, even during deception or combat. 147 231
- Has worn a dark outer robe while acting as a high-ranking shinobi. 178
- His youthful appearance contrasts with his extreme combat record and political influence. 107 155
Personality
Mizu is highly cautious, calculating, and practiced at deception from a childhood spent in deep cover. He instinctively assesses threats, conceals information, and uses manipulation as a survival tool, including exploiting emotional knowledge gained through his System and genjutsu. 3 15 227
Despite this, he forms genuine attachments to Konoha, Yukie, Yayoi, and his comrades. He supports Yukie’s training, trains Yayoi so she can keep pace with his strength, and repeatedly acts to protect Konoha personnel in battle. 3 93 167
His confidence can become open arrogance against opponents he considers weak. Conversely, he is aware that his abilities rely on Chakra, can be countered by sealing techniques, and may not withstand every enemy or circumstance. 77 86 115
Mizu is willing to pursue ruthless long-term solutions. He tells Yagura that, across worldlines, he intends to destroy the other ninja villages to end the era’s chaos, while later pursuing Hidden Mist’s integration into Konoha instead of simple annihilation. 117 170
Abilities & Skills
System and Heart Points
Mizu possesses a System that evaluates his abilities, reveals other people’s “Heart Knots,” and awards Heart Points when he resolves or advances those bonds. He uses these points for power upgrades and Talent draws. 3 4 93
- Detects a target’s Heart Knot and Bond Level through Sahara’s Book of Friends. 3
- Earned his first documented Heart Point by resolving Yukie’s suspicion and offering to teach her the Rasengan. 3
- Uses Heart Points to advance the Limitless Technique and draw Talents such as Stamina Beast. 4 93
- The System’s rewards localize foreign abilities into Chakra-based techniques usable in the ninja world. 56 86
Limitless Technique and Six Eyes
The Limitless Technique is Mizu’s defining ability. Combined with the Six Eyes, it provides exceptional perception, spatial control, and a defensive zone that makes ordinary attacks ineffective. 2 4 83
- Provides 360-degree long-range vision and Chakra sensing. 2
- Produces a spatial gap that can suspend objects before they touch him. 4
- Can generate a defensive “no-damage zone” that lets him ignore direct attacks while counterattacking. 101
- Can expand its range to lift and hurl massive objects, including a Susanoo’s giant sword. 83
- Enhances his Fire Release enough to overcome water- and wind-based countermeasures. 70
- Full-power use causes severe mental strain and is subject to a short time limit. 77 83
- Its defenses can be eroded or suppressed by specialized Chakra-sealing arrays. 115
Kyoka Suigetsu
Kyoka Suigetsu is Mizu’s Sharingan-like genjutsu, activated with the command “Shatter, Kyoka Suigetsu.” It alters a target’s senses without requiring them to realize they have been affected. 17
- Can redirect a target’s perception and attention. 17
- Used on Yukie without her detecting the sensory distortion. 17
- Used to control Yagura Karatachi and shape his decisions regarding both Konoha and Kirigakure. 25 117
- Early use consumes Chakra rapidly and was initially viable only for brief one-on-one or short multi-target engagements. 17
Elemental Ninjutsu and Swordsmanship
Mizu is proficient in Water, Lightning, and Fire Release, and later develops devastating close-combat swordsmanship through the Crimson Red Blade and Dance of the Fire God. 16 56 93
- Rasengan — A hand-seal-less rotating Chakra sphere he demonstrates to Yukie. 3
- Crimson Red Blade — Enhances an ordinary blade through frequency and grip strength, allowing it to cut Chakra. 56
- Dance of the Fire God — A twelve-form sword style that combines advanced technique and Chakra to ignite powerful Fire Release. 56
- Lightning Release Sword Technique — Splits Kazahana Dotō’s massive ice whale in the Land of Snow. 199
- Defeated dozens of Hidden Sand elites during a night raid using Fire Release and swordsmanship. 70
- His frontline exploits earned him the name “Crimson Red Blade Mizu.” 91
Fuinjutsu, Intelligence, and Tactical Skill
Mizu’s photographic memory, perception, and sealing knowledge make him a capable intelligence operative and battlefield commander. 16 69
- Uses coded rice grains and paper balls to relay intelligence covertly. 7
- Sealed Root laboratory director Hiruko to extract information and prepared traps for Danzo’s forces. 51
- Immediately exposed Yakushi Nonō’s hidden identity during a reconnaissance mission. 69
- Recognizes feints and redirects his squad to intercept an assassination attempt on the frontline command post. 69
- Possesses Mind’s Eye (Fake) (A), an instinctive combat intuition that enables near-optimal responses without directly observing an opponent’s movements. 124
Tiamat and Higher-Order Techniques
Tiamat is an SS-rank Tailed Beast reward housed within Mizu. Her Chakra grants a powerful Jinchuriki transformation but creates extreme physical and mental strain. 178 250
- Tiamat Jinchuriki Mode grants Chakra beyond ordinary Tailed Beast Chakra and Sage Mode Chakra. 250
- Accelerates healing, though prolonged activation leaves Mizu’s body severely overstrained. 251
- Risks corrupting or eroding his sense of self through persistent external whispers. 250
- Uses All-Killing Ash Bones and Truth-Seeking Balls against Otsutsuki Kaguya, ultimately destroying her core. 164
- Later manifests a Truth-Seeking Orb formation of thirty-six orbs and a forehead eye with circular tomoe. 281
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Ninja Blade — His primary close-combat weapon and the medium for Crimson Red Blade techniques. 95 182
- Summoning Wristband — Used to seal and transport intelligence. 112
- Heart Points — System currency used for ability advancement and Talent draws. 4 93
