When Luck Is All They Had Left
"What?"
Wood was stunned for a moment, then he realized what was happening.
Although he was very anxious, he remained relatively calm, though a flicker of anger seemed to flash in his eyes.
He looked at Malfoy following behind Harry, and unconsciously gripped the Flying Broomstick he was riding.
Slytherin's tactics are simple and particularly effective, but the way to break them is also simple: find a way to get the opponent's Seeker out to turn the tide.
Just as he was hesitating whether to make a move, Marcus appeared behind Draco.
"Hey Wood, things don't look good in Gryffindor!"
"I'm aware of your tactics," Wood said coldly. "They're shameless."
"Rogue?" Marcus scoffed. "This is steady, and we don't think we've broken any rules!"
"Compared to two days ago, we Slytherin have made considerable concessions, otherwise the Gryffindor House Team would have been reduced to fewer players long ago."
Wood gritted his teeth and said disdainfully, "What kind of skill is it to rely on equipment?"
"That's easy to hear." Draco glanced at Harry meaningfully. "Didn't Gryffindor also equip the Seeker with the latest Nimbus 2000 at the time?"
Why are you unhappy about Slytherin being replaced with Nimbus 2001?
"What's going on here?" George over. "Wood, do you need any help?"
"Three against two, we won't be at a disadvantage."
"That's not necessarily true," Marcus said.
As soon as he finished speaking, Adrian flew to Draco's side and said, "Make it even, three against three."
At this moment, commentator Lee Jordan's voice came over. "Slytherin House Team is in the lead, 110 to 20. Such a huge gap is rarely seen in previous seasons."
Wood frowned, his face grim as he looked at Marcus. "Flint, I don't think you mind a ten-minute halftime break!"
"I'm sorry, I mind."
"If you manage to break the deadlock in these ten minutes, we'll have squandered the game. I won't give you that chance."
"Flint, why don't we give them a chance? Otherwise, they might not be convinced!"
"Draco, do you know what you're saying?"
We have a decisive advantage now. If we can take another 60 points, this game will be ours. We can't afford to take any risks.
"You're scared?" Wood teased. "Can I understand why Slytherin is afraid of Gryffindor?"
Adrian couldn't hold back any longer and was about to rush over and teach Wood a lesson when Marcus stretched out an arm to stop him.
"Yes, we're scared," Marcus said nonchalantly. "Provocation doesn't work these days."
Wood and his two companions exchanged bewildered glances. The Slytherin House Team had changed their ways; this tactic used before was anything but ordinary.
Is it surprising?
"To be honest, we can't afford to lose." Marcus patted his Nimbus 2001. "This broom is pretty good. If we can lose to a bunch of Gryffindor with their junk brooms even with our latest model, how are we supposed to survive?"
Wood's lips twitched, then he turned his gaze to Draco. "You think I have no way out?"
Marcus and Adrian shielded Draco behind them, saying, "What you've thought of, we've naturally thought of as well."
Even if we lose a Seeker, the other players will take his place. Just hold Potter back. How difficult can it be with Nimbus 2001?
We have the latest equipment, so even in a four-on-five situation, the disadvantage isn't that great.
"Flint, I think I need to remind you of something," Adrian said with a smile, "Just because we haven't committed any fouls on the field for a long time doesn't mean we've lost our touch."
Upon hearing this, Marcus's lips curled into a sinister smile.
"Go ahead! As long as they dare to make the first move, we'll just defend ourselves."
Wood immediately realized that it was impossible to get Draco out; when it came to cheating and fouls, the Slytherin House Team was miles ahead of them.
"George, go do what you're supposed to do."
"But here..."
"Go quickly."
"Got it." George glared at the three Slytherin opposite him, accelerated towards one end of the arena, and knocked a Bludger away.
Flint gave Adrian a wink, and De'Aan nodded and flew away as well.
"I really didn't expect that you Slytherin would actually have rules to follow."
"Don't misunderstand, I'm just worried that the team members below will suffer losses."
"Harry." Wood leaned close to Harry Potter and whispered, "I'm out of options this time. It's all up to you. Your flying ability is better than Malfoy's. Maybe you can turn the tide."
Harry's eyes widened slightly as he stared at him in utter astonishment, feeling incredibly frustrated.
You should at least look at the scoreboard before you say that!
One hundred and ten to twenty, no, it's one hundred and twenty now, Slytherin is leading by one hundred points.
To turn the tide, you need to find and catch the Golden Snitch within a few balls. Isn't that a bit too difficult?
He hadn't been under so much pressure before, but this time Slytherin's Seeker was completely unpredictable.
Malfoy didn't steal the Golden Snitch; he just stopped him from doing Golden Snitch. They were completely unprepared for this tactic, and Jianqi couldn't play the game anymore.
"I know this might be a bit difficult for you, but you're the Seeker, and all we can do for you is to do our best to prevent the opponent from scoring."
"It's just ten points, right? Believe in yourself, you can do it."
"Slytherin has scored again, leading by 110 points." Jordan's commentary rang out again, "You may not have noticed, but I did."
The entire Slytherin squad has been equipped with new Flying Broomstick, Nimbus 2001, giving them a tremendous advantage against Gryffindor.
Wood and Flint didn't look too good.
The former felt that the commentators were acting on purpose, unnecessarily adding pressure to them.
The latter felt that they not only had to win this time, but they had to win spectacularly, otherwise they would be letting down the enormous advantage the other party had mentioned.
"Wood, it's forty points now," Harry said with some reluctance.
"I heard you, Harry."
Gryffindor more dire than anticipated. Wood sighed deeply, forcing a smile that was more like a grimace. "Perhaps, all we can rely on is luck."
Harry nodded, turned the broom around, and flew in the opposite direction.
"Malfoy," Marcus said seriously, "I don't care what you do, we absolutely cannot let him steal the Golden Snitch before we score four goals."
"Know."
Draco immediately gave chase to Harry Potter, and with the speed of Nimbus 2001, he soon caught up with Harry.
"Why don't we just rest here for a while?" Draco tempted. "The outcome of this match is already clear, so why bother?"
"Shut up, Malfoy," Harry said angrily, his only thought now being to send a Bludger to knock this annoying pest off his feet.
Perhaps Merlin heard his prayer, for a ten-inch-sized black iron ball Accio from the front, but its target was not Malfoy.
Harry turned left to avoid it, but the Bludger seemed to have eyes, abandoning Draco was closer, changing direction and crashing into Harry's head.
He immediately moved quickly, getting as far away from the Bludger as possible.
But no matter how he rotated, turned, rose, fell, or zigzagged, the Bludger relentlessly pursued him, and its speed was much faster than usual, almost matching that of the Nimbus 2000.
The only consolation was that Draco hadn't abandoned him under these circumstances, though his expression had turned particularly grim.
"It must have been you Slytherin who tampered with the Bludger," Harry said angrily.
"Don't make false accusations. We have an absolute advantage, there's no need for us to do this."
I strongly suspect that Gryffindor crying wolf, and now it's many times harder for me to catch up with you than before.
"Oliver is truly the captain; he'd resort to such underhanded tactics. He doesn't take you seriously at all."
"Impossible, I know what kind of person Wood is."
"Tch, you're really confident, Potter, but do you know what he's really thinking?"
At this moment, the crowd in the stands also noticed the anomaly. After all, the two Seeker who were rushing around were too conspicuous, and the Bludger at an unbelievable speed, so fast that you could see its afterimage.
The Gryffindor and Slytherin members also stopped what they were doing and looked at each other's captains with suspicion.
"Wood, what should we do?" Alicia asked. "Should we ask Madam Hooch for a pause?"
"But the Bludger was fine before."
"Is this the time to discuss this?" Katie said anxiously. "If we delay any longer, it will be dangerous for Harry."
"Understood, I'll go find Madam Hooch right away."
"Wait, Wood."
"No need to pause, the game continues." Harry, dodging the frantic, Bludger, said, "It's dangerous, but this could be our chance."
"Don't be silly, getting hit by that ball is no joke," George said. "Let's request an investigation!"
"No, I'm sure this wasn't done by Slytherin."
"And the danger isn't just mine; I dragged someone down with me," Harry said meaningfully. "This rampaging Bludger is our only advantage."
Only then did the group notice Draco Malfoy, whose face was ashen, following behind him, and their expressions became somewhat complicated.
"Be careful." Wood turned around with a heavy heart. "Everyone do your job. Bludger to Harry. What we need to do is prevent Slytherin from scoring."
"Flint, we..." Slytherin's Chaser Montague asked.
"Trust Malfoy. You all participated in his training, and this kind of accident was within our expectations. Otherwise, he wouldn't have stuck with Harry Potter so desperately," Flint said thoughtfully. "Oliver has confidence in their Seeker, and we should have confidence in our Seeker too."
If you want to help him, just focus on scoring more goals while you still can.
