The Only Good Person in the Crowd
More than half an hour later, Aaron looked at the transparent barrier that was so close at hand and shouted excitedly, "The finish line!"
His excitement was still vivid on his face when he crashed into the barrier and let out a scream.
Abei shuddered, feeling the same way, and covered his eyes with his paws, unable to bear looking at it.
"Hiss!"
Aaron gasped in pain, raising his head with a look of grief and indignation. "Am I destined to die someday?"
"I wouldn't dare," Jeans said respectfully. "I only said that the destination is at the foot of the mountain, but I didn't mean that we have to cross this barrier. If you want to leave here, young master, you have to find it yourself."
Aaron was stunned for a moment, his brain racing.
He needs a precise location; searching blindly is definitely not an option.
Although there are no crimson cracks here, the lava won't stop; it will catch up with him in ten minutes at most.
Finding the exit at the foot of the mountain within ten minutes... depends entirely on luck, after all, this volcano is no ordinary volcano.
"Abei." A thought flashed through Aaron's mind, and he immediately summoned the Holy Dragon. "Follow this barrier and look for the black stone pillar, the one you saw in the Secret Chamber."
Abei let out a roar and flapped its wings, flying to one side.
A little over half a minute later, he returned and pointed Aaron in the right direction.
"About five meters to the left, there is a black pillar."
"Beautiful." Aaron took a step forward and calmly walked to the front of the stone pillar. "Uncle Jeans, this must be it!"
Jeans nodded slightly. "Congratulations, young master, on conquering the first dungeon."
Aaron scoffed dismissively, then leaned against the stone pillar, watching the volcanic eruption with great interest.
"Young Master, aren't you coming out?"
"Now that I'm all here, I can't just leave empty-handed. I'll just consider it an opportunity to broaden my horizons."
Jeans:...
That makes so much sense, I'm speechless.
The lava was moving slower than Aaron had expected. When the dark red lava was less than a meter away from him, he placed his hand on top of the stone pillar.
Click!
The barrier shattered instantly.
The lava, volcano, and thick smoke vanished in an instant, and Aaron finally reached the true Secret Chamber.
After escaping danger, the first thing Aaron did was walk up to Jeans, raise his Wand, and cast a crimson spell.
Jeans' lips twitched, and a white light flashed around him, deflecting the spell in another direction.
"Young Master, please calm down."
"I can't stay calm," Aaron said angrily. "I've tolerated everything before, but you can't go this far!"
I almost fell into the lava pool several times; I've never been so thrilled in my life.
"I know," Jeans said helplessly. "Actually, I also think it's a bit excessive, but it's your father's order."
"Come on, you think you're so great just because you're the head of the family!"
I will write to my grandfather right now and ask him to come and seek justice for me.
"I'm afraid that won't work." Jeans shook his head, looking at Aaron with some sympathy. "Young Master, I'm going to say something you don't like to hear, but it's very Reality Stone."
Your father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, and so on—everyone has experienced the utter humiliation of this Secret Chamber. Do you understand what I mean now?
"You mean..." Aaron pursed his lips, "My grandfather is also waiting to see me make a fool of myself."
Jeans was silent for a moment, then said, "If nothing unexpected happens, that's how it will be."
One sentence shattered the last glimmer of hope in Aaron's heart.
This isn't because there are bad people among the masses; it's because he's the only good person among them. The contrast is too great.
"How so?"
"If it weren't for this, I, a mere Butler, wouldn't dare to arrange this kind of scenario for the young master."
However, the young master's performance was truly outstanding. Although he acted a bit childish at the finish line, it was harmless.
Aaron gave a bitter smile. "What was it like when Vico encountered a volcanic eruption?"
"Um... the patriarch arrived at the finish line in the last half minute, but he was in a much worse state, with his clothes in tatters."
Aaron looked at his relatively clean clothes and a surge of pride welled up inside him.
He's definitely much better than his father; he's a prime example of the younger generation surpassing the older.
"Can we leave now? I'm a little panicked about staying here."
Jeans glanced at his watch, a hint of hesitation flashing in his eyes, as if he wanted to say something but stopped himself.
"Is it okay or not?" Aaron said impatiently. "Give me a straight answer."
"The head of the family means three hours a day. There are still one hour and forty-five minutes left, so you may have to come again."
Upon hearing this, Aaron was so angry he felt like he was about to explode.
Even a tiger won't eat its own cubs.
"Three hours, is he trying to kill me?"
"The head of the family absolutely has no such intention," Jeans said immediately. "I can guarantee that."
"Uncle Jeans," Aaron said with a fawning smile, "You watched me grow up, how can you bear to see me struggling to survive amidst all sorts of natural disasters every day?"
"Of course I can't bear it, young master, you're still young."
I also explicitly protested to the head of the household that this training method was too extreme for a child; once a week would be about right.
Aaron nodded in deep agreement. "That's right, absolutely right."
Vico himself was brought to this Secret Chamber when he was sixteen years old, so why should he have to suffer like this three years earlier?
However, he soon heard the word "but," and his heart sank to the bottom.
As we all know, if a sentence contains a "but," then everything before that is just nonsense.
"However, my suggestion was rejected."
The reason is simple: people are different.
Geniuses have their own training methods. If you use methods meant for cultivating talent, it's undoubtedly a waste of their potential. And you, young master, happen to be the most outstanding person in the Gaius family in ten years.
Aaron rolled his eyes speechlessly, determined to hide the existence of the Thought Form until the time was right.
The training methods for geniuses are already terrifying enough; if they were to go to an even higher level, his fragile mind might not be able to withstand it.
"In fact, I don't really agree with this statement."
"Even the most talented person needs time to grow, and a thirteen-year-old child is not suitable for these things," Jeans said. "The head of the family seems to have realized he was being a bit hasty, so he decided to decide based on your performance in your first class."
If you failed just now, young master, then it will be once every three days, and the time cannot exceed one hour.
But you persevered, young master, and accomplished a task that no ordinary person could possibly complete. In particular, that unfinished ultimate Magic Array truly amazed me.
According to the head of the family, after you succeed, you must experience at least three hours of practice each day... or more.
Rumble!
Aaron was completely stunned. Being too outstanding is a sin!
"Uncle Jeans, it's just the two of us here."
"How about this, you turn a blind eye, and I'll be free."
"Young Master, I actually wanted to help you, and I even suggested just now that you could give up," Jeans said helplessly. "But the patriarch received the news as soon as you touched that black stone pillar, so even if I wanted to favor you, I couldn't."
Upon hearing this, Aaron felt utterly hopeless, and a bitter expression appeared on his face.
Guo Xing, your father will always be your father. Even Vico Ju Xing thought of that.
"But if I waste three hours on this class every day, won't the other teachers be unhappy?"
"No need to worry about that." Jeans had anticipated this and calmly took out a class schedule.
Aaron's eye twitched slightly. "You even prepared this?"
"Dang.
As the young master's Butler and temporary guardian, I prepared two schedules in advance: one for one hour of extreme training every day, and the other for three hours of extreme training every day.
This is the latter; I specifically discussed it at length with more than ten adults in the Secret Chamber.
"That's incredibly thoughtful," Aaron said through gritted teeth.
"Thank you for the compliment," Jeans said modestly. "This is all for the young master's growth; my hard work is nothing."
Aaron:...
This doesn't look like a compliment to you at all!
"Time is limited, you should move on to the next extreme challenge." Jeans tried his best to smile kindly and encouraged him, "I believe you can do it, young master."
After he finished speaking, the floor beneath his feet lifted him into the air again, and the environment in the room changed once more.
What was once an erupting active volcano is now a white snow-capped mountain. The biting wind howled and seeped into Aaron's clothes, making him shiver.
Fortunately, he was physically fit enough, otherwise the low temperature would have been enough to kill him.
"Wait a minute."
Aaron looked at Jeans and shouted, but as soon as he spoke, a mountain in the distance began to collapse, falling into the abyss along with the white snow.
Gollum!
Aaron couldn't help but swallow hard; he already knew what he was about to face.
An avalanche, and not just any avalanche.
From where he was, he could see almost no color other than white; if this snow were to settle, it would definitely settle much faster than lava.
"What's wrong, young master?" Jeans asked.
Aaron lowered his voice, "Can I rest for a bit?"
Jeans glanced at his watch, feigning nonchalance. "There's only an hour and a half left, and things can change in an instant. The enemy will only take advantage of your vulnerability and won't give you any time to rest."
"Alright! I can't refute that reason." Aaron's face darkened. "Then I have another question."
"Speaking."
"At least tell me where the exit is!"
"Unfortunately, there is no exit from this instance."
Young master, what you need to do is ensure your survival for one and a half hours.
"Of course, it's okay if you fail, but believe me, being swallowed by ice and snow definitely doesn't feel good."
"Is that so?" Aaron looked thoughtfully at the snowflakes dancing in the sky, a playful smile appearing on his lips. "I don't want to experience the feeling of freezing to death."
Seeing Aaron's confident demeanor, Jeans said no more, and with a light wave of his Wand, the snow-capped mountain began to shake violently.
The white demon, carrying immense force, swept down with incredible speed and power.
"Cut!"
Aaron pursed his lips, but he remained remarkably calm in the face of this terrifying natural disaster.
"Young Master," Jeans couldn't help but remind him, "You only have less than thirty seconds."
"Calm down, calm down." Aaron waved his hand. "I can't outrun an avalanche, let alone draw an ultimate Magic Array in half a minute. Besides, even an ultimate Magic Array of this scale couldn't stop it!"
"You can't just sit here and wait to die!" Jeans shouted urgently, looking at his young master with a hint of disappointment. "At least try to struggle!"
"Don't worry, I have my own ideas."
Aaron raised his Wand and drew an ice-blue Magic Array, summoning a huge block of ice.
"I still know some basic Transfiguration."
As soon as he finished speaking, the shape of the ice cube changed.
But as the specific shape appeared, Jeans stared in disbelief, his face filled with astonishment.
