Stalling Is an Insult to Intelligence
"It seems this Magic Crystal is the key." Aaron tapped the central Crystal Ball, then stroked his chin. "You didn't have this equipment back then, it seems it was just made."
I'm guessing this is Jeans's work?
Both Modo and Dika remained silent, but at this point, silence was tantamount to acquiescence.
"Ha!" Aaron sneered. "It seems the Butler has learned his lesson well, as he actually made a magical item for me."
"As it turns out, it was necessary," Dika chuckled. "We've put it to good use right now."
"This was my oversight, but I won't make the same mistake twice," Aaron said confidently. "The solution is simple."
One is that it must be powerful enough. A powerful Warlock will have a corresponding sense of power and can even destroy this magical item from a great distance.
Of course, that's still a long way off for me.
Another thing is concealing one's own existence, which isn't difficult for me.
Aaron looked at the two silent people and suddenly had a whim, "Why don't I try it out first?"
"There's no need for that," Modo said immediately, but he quickly realized he had been too excited. Just as he was about to explain, he saw the playful look on Aaron's face and his heart skipped a beat.
"Is this thing a fake?"
"Absolutely true," Dika interjected. "I'll stake my happiness for the rest of my life on it."
"Hiss! This price is a bit too high, but it seems like you're just trying to cover it up."
Aaron ignored the two guards' embarrassed and ugly expressions and gently placed the Compass on the table.
He walked around the table once, but was surprised to find that the pointer was not moving.
"What's going on? Is it broken?" Aaron frowned, picked up the Compass, and changed its direction.
The pointer moved, but it didn't point to him; instead, it pointed to Abei, who was wolfing down his food.
"This, this, this..."
Aaron stared in astonishment, his eyes wide. He looked at Abei, then at the Compass, and finally, as if possessed, his gaze fell on the Magic Crystal Magic Crystal, or more precisely, on the drop of liquid inside it. As if trying to understand something, the corner of his mouth twitched involuntarily.
"No wonder you don't want me to test it. If I'm careless, this thing might be usable again. That's what you're thinking, isn't it!"
The two looked at each other and nodded with difficulty.
They sincerely hoped this thing wouldn't be used a second time, but better safe than sorry, who knew if the young master would run away a third time!
"Who do you think you are?" Aaron rolled his eyes, then placed the Compass on the table. "You little ingrate, don't eat yet, you'd better take a look at this."
Abei paused for a moment, looked at the Compass placed in front of him, and gently sniffed it.
"This taste is a bit intoxicating!" Abei pondered for a moment with a serious face, then an incredulous and embarrassed expression appeared on his face. "Could it be that I drooled?"
"Okay! It's confirmed."
Aaron hadn't expected Jeans to be so shrewd, but he could understand.
Setting up a tracker to track one's own young master, no matter how good the intention, is still somewhat presumptuous for someone of his status Butler.
But getting a pet tracker doesn't seem so strict, since he's the one in charge of Abei's weight loss at home, and knowing its exact location is essential.
He and Abei are practically inseparable. If he ever leaves home, this pet tracker can accurately locate their position.
"Good heavens, he's really learned his lesson this time." Aaron couldn't help but exclaim. "Jeans is truly skilled; he deserves to be my father's most trusted Butler."
Not only did they create a powerful tool to track me, but they also perfectly distanced themselves from it, making it impossible to find fault with them.
Hearing this, Abei seemed to understand something and squatted down on the dining table, looking aggrieved.
"I'm sorry, I've been a burden to my master."
"Sigh!" Aaron patted its dragon head and comforted it, "It's nothing serious, you're just too naive and easily fooled."
The probability of me running away from home is extremely low, but he still did this, which shows he was very responsible and put in a lot of effort.
Abei forced back her tears, "I knew it! The Butler had been so nice to me lately, it turns out he was just lying to me."
Aaron glanced at the drop of Dragon Saliva in the Compass, and his eye twitched slightly.
You've misunderstood. He genuinely cares about you; otherwise, getting a single drop of your saliva would be incredibly easy for him.
"Dika, Modo."
"Exist!"
The two of them instinctively sat up straight; they were still aware of the concept of hierarchy.
"Don't be so nervous, I just have some questions I'd like to ask you."
My understanding of Jeans has been limited to the last ten years or so; I want to know what kind of person he was before that.
Just as Dika was about to speak, Modo gave him a look, and he swallowed his words again, feeling embarrassed.
"Us..."
"A contract was signed." ×3.
Aaron seemed to have expected this, calmly looking at the two somewhat astonished people, "Are you surprised?"
During this holiday, the word I heard most often was "contract". It wasn't once a week, but it must have been at least eighty times.
"Everyone uses the same excuse when they don't want to answer 'I don't want to.' Can't we come up with something a little more original?"
Dika hesitated, then unconsciously shrank back.
Modo also looked down at the floor, feeling embarrassed that he could dig out a three-bedroom apartment with his feet.
"Look me in the eye, you two." Aaron curled his lip and said disdainfully, "It's no secret. If I ask Jeans, he'll definitely tell me, but this feels a little abrupt."
"The boss...is very considerate of his subordinates," Dika said. "We are all people he trained. Once, when I was injured, he personally bandaged me up."
Modo couldn't help but turn his face away, but judging from his slightly trembling shoulders, it was clear that he was struggling to suppress his laughter.
Aaron noticed this. "Do you have anything to add?"
"No, he said yes, the boss really takes good care of us."
"Hmm? I hope you tell the truth, because I might ask Jeans for confirmation when I have nothing else to do."
"Actually, there was a wound!" Modo pursed his lips. "The boss did bandage him up, but he was beaten by the boss and suffered a head injury that time."
Aaron couldn't help but laugh. "Is there more?"
"The boss is very strong."
The six of us combined couldn't beat him, but that was a few years ago. Now, well..."
"We probably still can't beat them," Dika interjected. Modo paused for a moment, but didn't deny it.
"I know that. Tell me something useful."
"Reliable."
The two said in unison.
"If we were to consider the seven of us as a team, Lord Jeans would undoubtedly be the Soul Stone team."
He was our most respected teacher and our closest friend.
"Uh..." Aaron blinked, looking at the two of them speechlessly, "It's the same as saying nothing at all."
"Young Master, this is not our fault." Modo said with a troubled expression, "We haven't read many books and don't know how to describe it."
"That's right." Dika nodded in agreement.
"Impressive." Aaron patted his forehead. "If you don't want to say it, just say it. Why beat around the bush like this?"
"Young Master, have you finished eating?" Modo changed the subject. "If you have, please come with us!"
"I..." Aaron blushed, looking at the delicious food that was still more than half left. "Why don't you help share some of it? It's never good to waste food!"
"That means we're full," Dika said with a smile, then exchanged a glance with Modo, and the two of them stood up from their seats in unison.
"Hey! What's going on?"
"You should be mindful of the situation. There are so many Muggle here; it wouldn't be appropriate to start a fight!"
"It's not that complicated, we can use Apparition."
"Of course not here, but it'll be fine further away. Before that, we need to make sure you're within our sight." Dika said, gently grabbing Aaron's arm.
Modo then approached Abei and said, "I know you're very intelligent, so please cooperate. Otherwise, not only will Jeans be angry, but the head of the family and his wife will also be unhappy."
Abei, who had originally intended to struggle a bit, gave her owner a helpless look and crawled into the light purple Backpack.
Aaron:...
Damn it! Did you have to give in so quickly?
"Wait, there's something else I haven't done."
"We can't wait, young master, you're too smart." Modo shrugged. "The longer this kind of thing drags on, the greater the risk."
Delaying any longer would be disrespectful to our intelligence, so... sorry.
"I haven't paid yet!" Aaron said with a look of indignation. "I am the sole heir of the Gaius family, you don't want me to be stigmatized for dining and dashing, do you!"
Upon hearing this, the two looked at the dazzling array of food on the table and couldn't help but smack their lips.
This isn't just a glass of vodka! Although they could ask Jeans for reimbursement later, since the young master has the ability to pay, they wouldn't bother.
After paying the bill, Aaron followed the two guards out of the shop.
"A meal cost four figures," Dika said with a hint of envy. "It feels so luxurious."
"This is a reward for myself after successfully escaping. I won't be so extravagant later," Aaron said helplessly. "But I didn't expect you to find me in less than an hour."
"It's my duty."
"I know, I won't blame you," Aaron said calmly. "And I hope you won't blame me later either."
Both Modo and Dika felt a jolt in their hearts, as if something had slipped out of their control.
Having served as guards for so long, they knew that the young master wouldn't scare people for no reason. Whether it was a bluff or not, it meant that he was still confident of escaping right under their noses again.
That Compass is broken. If the young master runs away again, the two of them will have no chance at all.
Thinking of this, the two exchanged glances. Dika gripped Aaron's left hand even tighter, while Modo zipped up his Backpack and carried it in his hand.
They arrived at an open space and both breathed a sigh of relief, feeling a weight lifted from their hearts.
"Take care, young master. The master and mistress will be very happy to see you," Modo said respectfully, then winked at Dika.
The two used their Apparition, but the gray-white spatial vortex vanished in an instant, failing to function as a teleportation device.
"What happened?"
Dika looked somewhat bewildered, while Modo looked at Aaron.
"Don't look at me like that." Aaron slowly took out his Wand. "I also learned the Anti-Apparition Charm, not long after I learned Apparition."
Although I'm not as skilled as you, it's still effective within a ten-meter range.
"Young Master," Dika said wearily, "Could you please stop playing?"
"It's a pity," Aaron shook his head and said, "You have your responsibilities, and I have my pursuits."
Honestly, I don't know if I should run this time. Many people don't believe in me, and even I don't have much confidence.
This is my only chance, and I'm not ready yet. I know very well that once my mother arrives, I won't have any thoughts of running away from home.
"Young Master, you're forcing us to take action!" Modo said meaningfully. "Jeans gave us orders to persuade your family. If you don't cooperate, we can kidnap you."
"Then give it a try!"
Aaron quickly broke free from Dika's left hand and put some distance between himself and the two.
A yellowish-brown Magic Array instantly appeared, and more than ten brown chains flew out from the ground, rushing towards the two people's legs.
Dika and Modo waved their Wand, shattering the chains and reducing the Magic Array to nothingness.
"Young Master, perhaps in a few days we will no longer be your match. You will still have to come with us tomorrow," Dika said calmly.
"Stop talking nonsense and get going."
"I'm Modo said, then waved his hand forcefully.
The ground cracked open, and rubble and mud, mixed with a powerful hurricane, swept towards Aaron.
"Hey! It can't be that bad!"
What if the young master gets hurt?
"Don't worry, I know what I'm doing, and the young master isn't that weak."
Before he finished speaking, a faint blue light flickered, and a blue Ice Shield appeared in front of Aaron.
Soon, cracks appeared on the Ice Shield, and powerful winds rushed through the gaps, forcing Aaron back half a step.
He immediately waved his Wand, and a pale white light appeared at the tip of the Wand. The Magical Energy belonging to a mid-level Magus was released without reservation, which blocked the gray storm.
"High-level Archmage!" Aaron gritted his teeth. "I'm really no match for him right now!"
"If the young master knows, then so be it." While casting a spell, Modo winked at Dika, signaling him to go and tie up the young master now.
Dika nodded, and just as he was about to act, he heard the whooshing sound of the wind in his ears.
Turning their heads, they saw that Aaron's magic had actually surpassed that of Modo, and the gray storm was blowing towards them.
"Are you kidding me? Even if you were to go easy on people, you wouldn't go this far!"
"I'm not joking." Modo's face was grim. "Something seems wrong. Come help me quickly, hurry up."
