Descendant of the True Savior
Aaron resolutely refused. Clea was the eldest daughter of the hidden Darwin Family family, and they were childhood sweethearts, but he never thought that one day they would form a family together.
"It can't be that bad!" Lisana said half-jokingly. "You and Lyon have always had a good relationship!"
"I had a good relationship with him, but only on the condition that I didn't make a move on his sister," Aaron said with some indignation. "I was only seven years old that year, and just because I pinched Clea's cheek, he decisively threw aside our brotherly bond and challenged me to a duel. Our friendship capsized in an instant."
"But you won!" Vico said. "I remember your grandfather praising you back then."
"Hehe!
There are many ways to win, one of which is a Pyrrhic victory. "Aaron's face fell. "The potential of a sister-obsessed little sister is limitless. I paid a heavy price, getting bruised and battered, just to barely defeat her. Since then, I haven't dared to have any physical contact with Clea."
"Son." Lisana couldn't help but chuckle and patted Aaron on the shoulder. "That was years ago. You're all grown up now, you shouldn't hold grudges like that."
Moreover, Clea has said more than once that she wants to marry you when she grows up, and she still thinks so now.
We've also discussed it with Darwen's patriarch; if you're willing, we can get engaged immediately, and you can walk down the aisle a year later.
Upon hearing this, Aaron was completely dumbfounded and stunned.
What's going on? Is my charm that great?
But considering the love letters he received at Hogwarts, he had to humbly admit it.
"What about Lyon? What did he say?"
Aaron desperately hoped that his brother would show his sister-complex, so that as long as he said no, he could smoothly and tactfully refuse: It's not that your brother doesn't like it, it's that your brother doesn't like it.
"I don't know!" Vico shrugged. "He was away from home when we arrived, but it's none of his business."
Clea herself was in favor, both sets of parents were in favor, and unless he wanted his sister to live alone for the rest of her life, he would convince himself otherwise.
"Now it's just your opinion left. You know Clea better than we do. Her character, personality, family background, abilities, and looks are all perfect..."
"I don't agree," Aaron interrupted Lisana. "I've always considered her a sister."
"Sigh!" Vico sighed, looking at his son with a complicated expression, and said with emotion, "That's what I told your mother back then, but facts have proven that feelings can be cultivated."
Aaron:...
Lisana smiled meaningfully, "Anything is possible."
Aaron pursed his lips, deciding not to dwell on it and to just brush it off for now.
It's possible for one thing to happen, but it's still far off.
There are still five years until his death, and who knows what will happen in those five years?
After a moment of silence, Aaron smiled and nodded. "I'll consider it."
"Then we'll inform the Darwin Family," Vico asked tentatively.
"Huh? I only said I'd consider it, not that I'd agree immediately!"
"So what exactly do you mean?"
"Hmm... I personally think it's best to let things happen naturally, after all, we're still young..."
"Are you trying to stall for time?" Lisana asked, somewhat exasperated. "I know this is a bit sudden for you, but we really think she's the best candidate."
Aaron took a deep breath and then looked at his parents. "Could you please consider my feelings at least a little?"
You said it was just an option, but you're acting like you want me to walk into the grave of marriage right away.
I'm only thirteen! Clea is a year younger than me!
Upon hearing this, the two exchanged a glance and fell silent.
After a dozen seconds, Vico said earnestly, "We won't force you to make a decision, but keeping this list is fine, right?"
"This will do." Aaron quickly gathered the parchment from the table and put it back in the file folder. "I'll put it in my bedroom. You'll be satisfied with that, right?"
Lisana didn't say anything, but she felt a little regretful.
When Aaron came downstairs, he saw Vico with a serious expression and was stunned for a moment. This was the first time he had ever felt the patriarch's authority from his father.
"The secret that the Gaius family has guarded for thousands of years is finally going to be passed on to the next generation."
Tell me, Aaron Gaius, are you ready to die?
Aaron was utterly speechless. It was as if he could postpone it just because he wasn't prepared.
"Get ready to go to bed."
"Then come with me!"
"Don't I need to change my clothes or do any preparation?"
"Unnecessary."
Vico strode out of the living room and led Aaron to the door of the vault.
Lisana followed silently behind the two. Abei, whom she was holding in her arms, seemed to sense the solemn atmosphere and behaved exceptionally well.
He took a black key from his pocket and handed it to Aaron, saying, "It's better if you open this door yourself."
Aaron took the key, carefully inserted it into the lock, and slowly turned it.
Although he hadn't really made any preparations, he was still quite excited about the upcoming encounter with the core of the family.
"Calm down." Vico smiled and shook his head at his son, placing a hand on Aaron's shoulder. "You've walked through this door countless times."
"But this time is different."
"It's definitely different. Why don't you try to guess what's inside?"
Aaron glanced at Vico, then pushed the door open and went inside.
The truth was right in front of him; he had no time to play guessing games!
"My son is much more decisive than you," Lisana chuckled, leading Abei inside.
As soon as they entered, the door to the Secret Chamber quickly closed and disappeared into the space.
Aaron stared wide-eyed at the space that appeared in the void, and couldn't help but swallow hard.
This Secret Chamber seems to be the center of a universe, boundless and vast, like an independent world, full of mystery.
A Giant Tree stands in the very center of the world, above which is a sky full of stars, with almost every leaf connected to a star, obscuring the entire starry sky.
Below it is a magnificent altar, with Giant Tree rooted in it, occasionally emitting a dazzling light.
A huge book slowly turned its pages before the altar, with various literary styles and graphics constantly appearing and disappearing on the pages, as if it could never be fully written down.
"This is absolutely spectacular!"
"I had the same thought as you when I first saw it." Vico walked to the altar and respectfully bowed to the huge book.
"Come and pay your respects; this is the true history of our family."
Aaron did as instructed, but for some reason he felt joy and excitement from the book.
"You should be able to tell that this tree is the coat of arms of the Gaius family."
What does that remind you of?
Aaron frowned. "Could it be that the origins of the Gaius family are related to this tree?"
"No." Vico shook his head meaningfully. "To be precise, this tree was created by Gaius."
Several thousand years ago, an unprecedented genius appeared in the Magic World; he was our ancestor.
He had no surname, but his given name was passed down as a surname by later generations.
"Darling," Aaron said impatiently, "I know all of this."
"Ren, then tell me something you don't know."
Gaius was born with the ability to control his own magic power, reached the High-level Mage at the age of four, Magus at six, a grand Archmage at nine, Grand Archmage at twelve, and entered the realm of Holy Magus at sixteen. At the very end, he entered the Divine Realm.
"This is impossible," Aaron said incredulously. "Even if God fed him himself, he couldn't grow this fast."
"Son," Vico smiled dismissively, "Do you believe in the existence of God?"
"Uh..." Aaron replied uncertainly, "Perhaps it doesn't exist!"
"God exists, and so does Satan." Vico pointed to the books behind him. "They are recorded in detail here."
Aaron blinked, then turned to look at his the Mother in astonishment. "Please tell me this is a joke."
Lisana smiled without saying a word.
"It seems this isn't a joke."
Why do I say this?
"To give you some mental preparation, after Gaius entered the Divine Realm, he vaguely sensed a higher level of barrier."
To go further, he chose to leave this world and explore new paths.
But the exploration was destined to be anything but smooth sailing. In this process, he often witnessed gods of all sizes fighting each other in the universe, whether for faith, for resources, or for ridiculous personal grudges.
The protracted Divine War has been going on for ages, and it seems it will never end.
Countless planets collapse, shatter, and regenerate amidst fierce battles, with Reality Stone and virtuality intertwined, and turbulent currents of spacetime visible everywhere.
He was also forced into the fray, but his talent and strength were too great. Not only did he suffer no damage, but he also calculated his opponent's abilities during the battle and incorporated them into himself.
He constantly refined his laws through battle, breaking through to higher levels of mastery, and even gaining control of a portion of the Universe.
"This... this has to be so exaggerated?" Aaron was so shocked that he couldn't speak for a while before he managed to say, "Even ancient books don't write like this."
Vico curled his lip in disdain. "Don't limit your thinking. There will always be someone who can surpass your imagination."
Aaron was speechless. "You continue."
"He ended the war of the gods with absolute power, but he did not kill anyone. Instead, he organized them to sign a pact."
Aaron:...
No wonder my family likes to use contracts so much!
The secret has been found! It turns out it's an heirloom!
"The gods each perform their duties and shall not infringe upon the authority of others without cause, nor shall they kill mortals at will. Thus, the balance between good and evil in the world is achieved."
"By the way, among these people is the so-called God," Vico said sarcastically. "Although he stopped the world from being continuously destroyed, the world itself is already overburdened and teetering on the brink of collapse."
Our ancestor noticed this and tried to heal the universe, but all his efforts only slowed its collapse.
"And then?" Aaron asked eagerly.
"Then Gaius returned to this world," Vico said with emotion. "He didn't build himself into a god, but lived as an ordinary person, without even revealing any magic."
While experiencing life, he fell in love with a woman and formed a happy Warlock family.
Besides marrying and having children, Gaius also took on three exceptionally talented apprentices, teaching them different types of magic.
"Wait, stop." Aaron suddenly realized something. "Three apprentices? Could it be..."
"That's right, it's them," Vico said, counting on his fingers. "Darwen is responsible for spreading knowledge and recording all the correct history."
Ishkar is responsible for prevention and protection. If the world is engulfed in war, they will take immediate emergency measures to protect all Warlock, including those of Muggle-born.
As for Klein, he was responsible for deterrence, and it is thanks to them that the world has not been invaded by foreign forces so far.
Gaius, on the other hand, was responsible for establishing connections with other worlds; there was a reason why the four Hidden Family would help each other.
"So that's how it is!"
Aaron used to find it surprising that the relationships between their families could last for thousands of years without deteriorating.
The case has now been solved. The master-disciple relationship between the two thousands of years ago was similar to that of the two disciples. To put it more bluntly, their families were distant relatives.
Do you think this is the end?
"Isn't that so?"
"Of course not." Vico shook his head with a smile. "After his wife passed away peacefully, he returned to the starry sky."
He felt that his life had been wonderful enough, so he wanted to do something more meaningful.
He relinquished his authority, sacrificed his body and Soul Stone, and mended the gaps in the universe.
In fact, only he could do this, not because he had partial permission to control the universe, nor because of his great strength, but because only he was willing to do this.
Because, in the eyes of those high and mighty gods, the destruction of the universe is only a matter of time.
Powerful gods will create new divine realms in other universes, and less powerful gods will do the same, but their living space will be much smaller, and if they are unlucky, they can only survive under the protection of others.
After hearing this, Aaron was stunned for a long time.
He knew his first ancestors were extraordinary, but in his view, the most extraordinary thing they could do was save the world, or, to exaggerate a bit more, save the Milky Way. If the God of Magic put in a little more effort, it wouldn't be impossible.
But he never expected that his ancestor had saved a universe. That's incredibly awesome!
"That's amazing, but I wouldn't follow his example if it were me," Aaron exclaimed. "I don't have my ancestor's abilities, nor do I have his mindset."
Perhaps he sees the sacrifice as profoundly meaningful, but I would probably never do something like that.
As soon as he finished speaking, Aaron received a slap on the head.
"Sometimes sacrifice is necessary." Vico taught his son, exasperated by his son's lack of ambition, "The Gaius family is what it is today because of the sacrifices of our ancestors."
"I didn't say anything wrong!" Aaron said, feeling wronged. "Dad, you know me. The idea of sacrificing oneself to save the world has nothing to do with me."
"I'm glad you think that way." Lisana breathed a heavy sigh of relief. "Our ancestors were great, but your the Mother wishes you could be a little more selfish."
Upon hearing this, Vico rolled his eyes speechlessly.
That's true, but is it really appropriate to be so blunt?
