There Was an Unknown Enemy
The Forbidden Forest was made up of countless towering trees and all kinds of plants. A thin mist hung in the night, making it seem even more sinister. The wolf howls that occasionally drifted over from afar left them all feeling uneasy.
Hagrid took the lead, guiding them along a narrow path into the forest and deeper within.
Aaron was especially glad that he had rented a lamp. Otherwise, he might not even have been able to see the path.
After who knew how long, Hagrid spotted a pool of thick silver liquid on the ground ahead, and his brow furrowed.
"What is this?" Harry asked.
"Unicorn blood. I've seen it before." Aaron crouched down and pinched a little between his fingers. "The blood is very fresh. My preliminary judgment is that it was badly injured."
"He's right. A Unicorn died a few weeks ago. Its death was particularly gruesome. Nearly half the blood in its body had drained away. This is the second one. Our job is to find the poor thing and protect it."
"That won't be easy." Aaron considered it for a moment, then said meaningfully, "The forest is very dangerous right now. I'm afraid it isn't just animals and plants. I suggest we postpone our detention, preferably until daytime."
"Yeah! Daytime would be much more convenient, and we wouldn't need lanterns either," Hagrid said. "But the Unicorn can't wait that long. One night is enough for its condition to go from severely injured to dead."
"But I don't think the safety of five wizards is worth less than that of one Unicorn."
Draco's expression shifted slightly, and he swallowed involuntarily. "What do you mean? Don't scare me!"
"Calm down. At least we're safe for now." Aaron patted him on the shoulder
