"Yes, a fair trade." Aaron said solemnly. "I'm a civilized man. I prefer relatively civilized, gentle methods to resolve problems. If I don't have to fight, I won't."
"Let's hear it." Aro smiled with interest. "I'm curious where a human got the nerve to trade with the immortal race."
"The terms are simple." Aaron looked at Jane Volturi behind Aro. "I want her."
The moment those words fell, everyone present was utterly stunned, including Aro and the Cullen family, who already knew his purpose.
Demanding someone so openly was practically treating the Volterra Family as if they did not exist.
"Has he lost his mind?" Garrett asked Carlisle quietly. "With that kind of provocation, is he tired of us dying too slowly?"
"Don't worry. Aaron knows what he's doing," Jasper said. "Even if you don't trust him, you should trust Alice!"
Hearing that, Garrett asked no more questions.
The ability to foresee the future was far too mysterious. Perhaps Aaron's current behavior was part of Alice's plan.
"Seeking death."
Alec snapped, releasing black mist from his palms once more.
The Volterra Family had always been the ones taking people. They had never been robbed before, much less of his sister, the fourth-ranking figure in the Volterra Family.
Jane was the commander of the guard. Within the Volterra Family, her status was second only to Aro and the other two elders.
"Alec." Aro shook his head, stopping him.
"A trade requires both parties to be equally strong.
Human, do you think you have that ability?"
"I should." Aaron shrugged. "Otherwise, I wouldn't have come here."
"Good. I admire your courage.
Since you want Jane, Jane will test you herself.
As long as you can endure it, I'll acknowledge that you're qualified to trade." Aro smiled meaningfully, then beckoned to Jane.
