The fighter appeared in the night sky, then docked at the shore like a ship.
Scott, Ororo, Logan, and Jean stepped onto Liberty Island. Following a narrow path to the Statue of Liberty, they found Aaron and Rogue sitting in front of the steps.
"What can I say?" Aaron looked at them teasingly. "You arrived more than ten minutes later than I expected."
"Why are you here?" Jean asked with a frown.
Aaron shrugged and whistled. Fawkes flew down from the top of the Statue of Liberty and landed steadily on his shoulder.
"So that's how it was." Jean suddenly understood. She had nearly forgotten that Fawkes could Teleport.
"How did you save her?" Logan looked at Rogue, who seemed to have just cried. She looked a little disheveled, but she was completely unharmed.
Aaron took out his phone and played the footage of Senator Kelly liquefying once more.
"I showed this video to Magneto and his Mutant brothers. Then I appealed to both emotion and reason, laid out the stakes, and he rationally gave up on the plan."
"It was that simple?" Scott asked incredulously. Since when had Magneto been so easy to talk to?
"What else did you expect? It wasn't as if he was stupid enough to declare war on the entire world.
"The last Mutant who did that is already dead. Apocalypse is the perfect cautionary tale!"
"If it was so easy, why didn't you discuss it with us?" Ororo asked in confusion.
"If Jean hadn't gotten on the plane with you, I wouldn't have wanted anything to do with this mess!"
