Background / History

Eighteen years before the main story, Xu Yong was one of Shenyun City's outstanding young martial artists and a prospective successor to the General Commander. During the Monster Tide, he entered a formation to defend the city's civilians and led troops against a True Bone great demon. The battle damaged his Dao foundation and left Flame Demon Power within him. 74 80 84

Despite his worsening condition, Xu Yong remained commander of Dongyong Camp for eighteen years. The camp's soldiers deeply respected him for his service and rejected Qin Song's demand that he surrender the Military Tally and command. 80 84

When Su Ye offered to comprehend a second Vast Sea Sword Intent to help treat him, Xu Yong recognized the youth's resolve and promised to grant any request if he succeeded. Though Xu Yong admitted he did not truly expect the feat to be possible, he honored Su Ye's confidence. 74
