By custom, before training began each day, Zephyr would first explain that day's training objectives.
Today, he was teaching the Six Powers.
Before Gigue and the other two arrived, Zephyr had already taught the others the training methods for the Six Powers. But the Six Powers were not so easily mastered. Forget all six—among the trainees, those who could skillfully use even one technique were still few and far between.
Even future veteran Marine vice admirals like Momonga and Onigumo had only mastered two or three techniques at most. Even Akainu and Kizaru had yet to learn them all.
Since new recruits had joined, Zephyr took the opportunity to teach the Six Powers again.
Of course, there was no need to master every single one. It depended on the individual. Someone like Kizaru had absolutely no need to learn Geppo; the Glint-Glint Fruit gave him aerial mobility far superior to Geppo by nature.
Of the Six Powers, Kizaru had mastered Finger Pistol best, because it greatly increased the power of the lasers he fired from his fingers.
After carefully watching Zephyr demonstrate and explain each of the Six Powers, Gigue immediately ruled out Iron Body and Kami-e.
Kami-e was especially useless to him, since with the strength of his Observation Haki, he had no use for such a skill at all.
As for Iron Body... wasn't that basically an illusion technique?
With those two excluded, the remaining four techniques would all be of great help to Gigue.
Finger Pistol and Tempest Kick made up for Gigue's current weakness in single-target attacks, while Shave and Geppo could greatly improve his mobility.
After Zephyr finished explaining, he dismissed the group and told the trainees to reinforce what they had learned. He then walked over to Gigue and the other two, intending to teach them personally.
After all, Gigue and the other two had arrived late, so it was only natural for Zephyr to give them some extra instruction.
Looking at the three of them, he asked,
"Did you understand everything I just explained? Do you need me to demonstrate it again?"
Ginny and Kuma both nodded. Only Gigue said nothing.
Zephyr assumed Gigue was digesting what he had just learned, so he did not disturb him and began guiding Ginny and Kuma first.
He started with Shave. Just as he reached the middle of his explanation, Gigue suddenly moved.
His feet tapped the ground several times at a speed too fast for the naked eye to follow, and his body instantly flashed several meters away.
Zephyr froze mid-motion at the sight. Several trainees who saw it were left standing there in a daze as well.
Akainu caught Kizaru's incoming fist and turned sideways as he said,
"Was that Shave? Gigue already learned it?"
Still, he was not overly surprised. Using the Six Powers depended on one's physical ability to begin with. The stronger one's body, the faster one learned, especially with a relatively "simple" move like Shave.
Gigue himself did not think much of it. He tried it several more times, growing faster and faster, until afterimages even appeared where he stood.
The sight made some trainees who still had not mastered Shave feel like crying, and they could only curse the heavens for being unfair.
Ginny tilted her head and said to Zephyr,
"Teacher Zephyr, why don't we just go learn from Brother Gigue later? You can move straight on to the next technique."
"Uh, all right. Actually, Shave is a very basic technique. Once you master it, it means your leg strength has reached the standard. Then you can begin learning Geppo and Tempest Kick..."
Whoosh!
A green slash swept across half the training ground and struck the wall at its edge, leaving behind a deep crack.
Watching Gigue kick through the air with rapid bursts in midair, Zephyr no longer knew what to say.
In less than the time it took to drink a cup of tea, most of the trainees had not even finished their warm-up movements, yet Gigue had already learned three of the Six Powers.
Such talent was simply unheard of. It had already crossed into the realm of monstrosity.
Someone on the training ground had already dropped to their knees, wondering what the point of their existence was.
Gigue frowned in midair and muttered to himself,
"The power is still a little lacking. Let's try this..."
Crack!
Gigue stomped hard through the air and shot straight into the sky. During the ascent, a violent burst of lightning bloomed around his left foot, and then he kicked downward.
"Tempest Kick: Raiton!"
A crescent-shaped slash wrapped in electric arcs descended from the sky. It struck the ground and triggered a violent explosion, with raging lightning erupting from within and illuminating the blank faces across the field.
Landing steadily, Gigue looked at the scorched crater in the ground and finally showed a satisfied smile. Now this was the effect he wanted!
Zephyr had already gone numb. He waved his hand weakly and said,
"You two should just go find Gigue. Those three techniques will be enough to keep you busy for a while..."
Ginny cheered and happily dragged Kuma toward Gigue.
In that short time, quite a few people had already gathered around Gigue. Momonga stared at the crater Gigue had kicked into the ground and muttered,
"Teacher Zephyr never taught that move..."
The more level-headed Kashou patted him on the shoulder and said earnestly,
"Stop looking. The longer you look, the worse you'll feel. Just practice your own techniques well. Don't compare yourself to Gigue. He isn't the same kind of person as us."
Ginny did not care about any of that. She stood prettily beside Gigue and said in a sweet voice,
"Brother Gigue, Teacher Zephyr told us to come find you. I'll be troubling you today~"
Seeing this, Kuma immediately said,
"Big Brother Gigue, teach Ginny first. I'll practice on my own."
Gigue nodded and found a corner with Ginny, where he began giving her one-on-one guidance.
Ginny copied his movements with great seriousness, her long, fair legs swinging back and forth before Gigue and making his blood surge.
He shook his head and explained several key steps to Ginny with no distracting thoughts. Yet Ginny's attention did not seem to be on the training at all. Rather than learning, it was more like she was deliberately showing herself off.
Seeing that Gigue simply would not take the bait, Ginny lightly bit her lip when he moved close to correct her posture, then suddenly raised one leg high.
This threw her off balance. Her lower leg landed directly on Gigue's shoulder while her upper body tilted to one side. Gigue instinctively reached out, wrapped an arm around her waist, and steadied her.
The two stood there in an extremely strange pose. Ginny's face was pressed tightly against Gigue's chest, and the powerful sound of his heartbeat made her whole body burn as her breathing grew heavier.
Gigue was not having an easy time either. Ginny's figure was simply too good. If he did not react at all at such close range, he might as well go hang around with Ivan from now on.
Taking a deep breath, Gigue carefully shifted his shoulder, wanting Ginny to put her leg down first.
However, Ginny had no intention of cooperating. A sly glint flashed through her eyes, and when Gigue relaxed, she exerted force again. The two of them fell backward, pressed tightly together...
