Background / History
Gigue was originally an orphan on Earth who supported himself through part-time work and graduated from university before dying in a fall while intoxicated. He awoke in the body of an eight-year-old boy named Gigue, retaining almost none of the body's original memories. 1
While exploring the island where he awoke, Gigue encountered Kuma, Ginny, and Ivan. Recognizing them from his memories of One Piece, he determined that they were trapped in God Valley during the Celestial Dragons' slave hunt. The four children became a group, with Gigue using his foreknowledge to pursue the Paw-Paw Fruit as their best route to escape. 1 2
Before his time in God Valley, Gigue had been born in Mary Geoise as the son of Figarland Gurando Saint and the nephew of Saint Garling. Gurando and Vegapunk used him in experiments intended to combine Mink and Lunarian genes with a future body-transference plan. The experiments caused Gigue's body to collapse; Gurando considered him dead and disposed of him as a slave. 12
Gigue obtained the Dark-Dark Fruit during the God Valley conflict. After Kuma acquired the Paw-Paw Fruit, Garling revealed Gigue's surname and Kuma sent him away from the island. 7 9
Six years later, Gigue had become a priest in the Sorbet Kingdom, using darkness to heal injuries and illness. After reaching a personal bottleneck, he decided to join the Marines to receive Zephyr's instruction, gain combat experience, and develop Haki. 14
Appearance
At age fifteen, Gigue stood roughly 1.9 meters tall and had grown into a notably mature, imposing figure. 14 His appearance changes significantly when he draws on his modified lineage factors and Devil Fruit powers. 67 113
- Wears black gloves and a Marine greatcoat with black epaulets and cuffs during his time as a Vice Admiral. 96
- Possesses crystal-clear, jade-like skin in his Mink-derived transformed state. 67
- Can manifest large black bat wings and golden pupils. 165 323
- Displays a golden right pupil during periods of abnormal physical change. 185
- Wears the white, gold-epauletted Fleet Admiral greatcoat in battle. 323
Personality
Gigue is calculating and opportunistic. At God Valley, he deliberately allowed other slaves to enter a suspected Devil Fruit location first rather than exposing his own group to an ambush. Later, he openly challenged Sengoku's defensive strategy and secured Kong's approval for an offensive campaign against the Roger Pirates. 4 236
He pursues power with unusual focus, treating the Marines, Haki training, genetic experimentation, and Devil Fruit acquisition as means to surpass his limits. He accepts extreme risks, including consuming multiple Devil Fruits, despite Garling's concern. 14 111
Gigue can be protective toward people he considers his own. He intervened when Ginny and Gion were overwhelmed, escorts Tiger toward Fish-Man Island, and works to place Shanks on a path toward becoming Pirate King. 170 185 295
His protection does not extend to his enemies. He is capable of calculated cruelty, including torturing King Beckley with transferred pain, killing defeated opponents, and treating fear as a tool of authority. 14 170 398

- Can scout locations before arriving, as when he checked approaching warships near Roger and Whitebeard's meeting. 164

- Is stated to possess potential immortality. 124
Gravity-Gravity Fruit

- Generated gravity waves powerful enough to crush Whitebeard into the ground and shatter his bones. 327
- Combines gravity with darkness in attacks such as Dark: Universal Pull. 63
Shadow-Shadow Fruit
Gigue acquired the Shadow-Shadow Fruit from Moria. 282
- Materializes shadows as physical constructs. 282
- Can transform into bats. 282
