Feeling his body crumble away bit by bit, Gigue's expression only grew calmer. Kong, meanwhile, looked as though victory was already in his grasp. Seeing that Gigue showed no further reaction, the corner of his mouth curled up as he said,
"Have you given up resisting? A wise choice. Needless resistance will only increase your pain."
Gigue ignored him. At that moment, he was gathering every bit of energy in his body toward the spot between his brows. Beneath that silver mark lay power enough to destroy everything.
Just as Gigue prepared to release it, a blue figure suddenly flashed past him. The next second, Otsutsuki Kong was sent flying backward, leaving behind an enraged roar.
"How dare you..."
Kong was hurled away so quickly that he had flown several miles in the blink of an eye, and his voice soon vanished.
His ability could no longer be maintained. Gigue's damaged body immediately began repairing itself at a visible speed. Yet he paid no attention to his own condition, instead staring at Otsutsuki Tsukishiki, who stood ahead of him.
Tsukishiki slowly turned around, her expression complicated.
"Tsuki already told you to be careful of his ability. How were you still stupid enough to let him catch an opening?"
For once, Gigue did not argue with Tsukishiki. He merely said softly,
"It was my mistake. I was careless and fell for it."
Tsukishiki had not expected Gigue to speak to her in such an apologetic tone. She froze for a moment, then bit her lip and said,
"It's good that you realize it. Don't expect Tsuki to save you every time. Just now, Tsuki only wanted to vent a little. Tsuki has disliked that guy for a long time..."
Gigue continued to go along with her, speaking gently.
"Mm. I understand."
