Monday, August 27th.
After pulling a night shift at Channese Gate, Klein returned home. After Mr. Devil's good morning greeting, he slept soundly until noon, only to be brutally awakened by Mr. Devil during lunch.
Fortunately, the odd-job maid hired yesterday was very diligent. As soon as he woke up, she immediately prepared a hot lunch, which comforted Mr. Fool's wounded soul.
After his rumbling stomach was soothed by lunch, Klein picked up a copy of the Tingen Honest Man Newspaper and used reading it as a cover for his thoughts.
He had received two days of leave after his shift at Channese Gate, and he planned to use this opportunity to advance to Clown.
After all, although the conflicts between Extraordinary individuals in Tingen City had gradually stabilized, neither the Emissaries of the Aurora Society, the yet-to-be-born Evil God Progeny, nor the Spectator hiding in the shadows had shown any intention of revealing themselves.
Coupled with Mr. Azk's departure for Backlund, his thirst for power had reached a critical point.
"I'll buy the extraordinary materials after the Tarot Club meeting..."
Klein thought this, quickly finished his lunch, and returned to his bedroom to consider how to disguise himself for his outing.
"Done." Sno reread the documents in front of him. After confirming there were no oversights, he burned them to ashes. He had many goals for today's Tarot Club meeting, so his plan was written with particular detail.
As time passed, Sno gradually shook off his lethargic demeanor. With the burst of deep red light before his eyes, he reappeared before the ancient, mottled Bronze Long Table. Opposite him, the sole lady of the Tarot Club, Miss Justice, stood up as usual. However, it was clear she seemed a bit anxious this time, not greeting everyone in her usual order:
"Good afternoon, Mr. Fool. I apologize, but I did not obtain Emperor Roselle's diary this week. However, the situation in Backlund has improved, and I should be able to attend some gatherings in Extraordinary circles this week!"
"Alright." Although Klein was somewhat disappointed, he maintained the dignity of The Fool. After Mr. Fool's response, Audrey immediately said somewhat eagerly, "Mr. Sun, did you get the 'Mind Reader' formula?"
Mr. Sun's credibility was naturally excellent. Although he had to sell off belongings to finally gather enough money for the Mind Reader formula and the extraordinary materials needed for The Worshipper, he didn't show it. Instead, with Mr. Fool's help, he readily wrote down the potion formula.
And Mr. Fool, very thoughtfully, helped Miss Justice change the names of the materials to their modern equivalents.
Perhaps due to not obtaining Emperor Roselle's diary, Miss Justice felt a little guilty after receiving the formula and immediately said, "Mr. Fool, to express my apology and to compensate for the price difference in this transaction, I am willing to provide 350 pounds in funding for your attendant."
"350 pounds?!" Mr. Fool, who had expected to part with his beloved money today,'s eyes lit up. However, he still pretended to be indifferent to money and calmly said, "A fair transaction."
Speaking of which, Klein remembered that Miss Justice didn't have a messenger. He then presented the unused Backlund bearer account on a piece of parchment to Miss Justice, while also muttering to himself—
"Messengers are really too useful. Perhaps I should ask Mr. Azk how to get a messenger?"
After clarifying his financial situation, Klein held the parchment with neat handwriting, which Mr. Devil had silently materialized and should be called Perrdax's diary. Without rushing to read it, he looked at Mr. Sun—
"What compensation do you wish to receive?"
Upon hearing this, Mr. Sun thoughtfully considered for a moment before replying honestly, "I don't have any items I urgently desire recently. However, I should be able to digest the 'Worshipper' potion quickly, so I'll accumulate the compensation for now. Hmm, consider it preparation for the Sequence Eight formula, or necessary materials."
"Even if I knew the materials, I couldn't send them to you... If you are truly in the Land of the Abandoned, even a messenger couldn't reach you, right?" Although Klein didn't know if the Land of the Abandoned could summon messengers, it was a place with Sequence IV powerhouses. If mere messengers could enter and exit freely, they wouldn't have been trapped there for so many years.
Just as Klein nodded, intending to read Perrdax's diary, Miss Justice also noticed the word "digest" in Mr. Sun's words and asked after some deliberation, "Mr. 'Sun,' have you mastered the Acting Method?"
Upon hearing this, Mr. Sun showed a hint of confusion in his eyes, but he still answered frankly, "There's nothing strange about that. The general knowledge classes in Silver City teach the 'Acting Method'..."
"Crack!"
Just as The Hanged Man and Miss Justice were both surprised that general knowledge classes taught such knowledge, a light sound suddenly came. Everyone turned their heads in unison, only to find Mr. Devil, who had always seemed unfazed by anything, displaying a look of shock that even the Gray Fog couldn't block.
"Mr. Devil is so flustered? That shouldn't be!" If anyone was most surprised at this moment, it would be Mr. Fool, sitting at the head of the Bronze Long Table, as he was likely the one among them who knew the most about Mr. Devil's background.
An Extraordinary individual who possessed extraordinary items likely from a high Sequence, held intelligence related to deities, and had family heritage—how could he be shocked by the popularization of the Acting Method?
Unless, this Acting Method held a deeper secret!
With this thought, Mr. Fool slowed down his movement to pick up the diary, and Mr. Devil, as he had "hoped," asked in an unprecedentedly serious tone:
"Can you tell me your faith and population in Silver City?"
"Why is Mr. Devil asking this? General knowledge classes teaching the Acting Method, what does that have to do with faith and population?"
Perhaps noticing everyone looking at him with curious eyes, or simply feeling there was nothing to hide, Mr. Sun nodded slightly. "We in Silver City believe in the Lord who created everything, the omniscient and omnipotent God. The entire city has over two thousand people."
Under the gaze of the Tarot Club members, Sno took a deep breath and then said in a serious and profound tone, "Although I'm not entirely sure if your so-called omniscient and omnipotent God is the one I know, nor if your Silver City is in the place I know, if my guess is correct, He hasn't responded to you for a long time, has He?"
"How do you know that? What else do you know? Can you tell me? I'll exchange anything I can offer!"
