The Reason for the Change

Hiruzen Sarutobi waved his hand. He did not think it had been particularly hard. He had accepted his shishou's dying request in a time of crisis, so he had to shoulder Konoha.

Otherwise, his shishou would not be able to rest peacefully even in the Pure Land, and his own conscience would never be at ease.

"But with Danzo helping you from the side, things should have been manageable, right?"

For a moment, both Hiruzens were confused, their faces equally bewildered.

Hiruzen Sarutobi said, "Help me? I'd be lucky if that old man didn't cause me trouble!"

How could Hiruzen Sarutobi not understand Shimura Danzō's intentions? He merely tolerated him out of their childhood friendship.

But that old man had only become more brazen. Hiruzen Sarutobi figured that if anything happened to him, the old man probably would not feel the slightest bit of grief.

Hiruzen shook his head. "It seems the differences between our worlds have surfaced again. Danzo in our world is actually quite decent. Though that old man usually looks sinister, he is warmhearted underneath."
