Background

Tang Yelan first aided the impoverished original Song Ankang because of his filial piety, lending him money for his parents' treatment without intending to collect it. After his parents died, she paid for their funerals; Song Ankang then insisted on repaying her by entering the Tang Family, eventually becoming her live-in husband. 2 238

Tang Yelan openly defended Song Ankang when Tang Quanli tried to remove him from Chaoyun Manor. By redirecting Tang Quanli toward Chaoyun Manor and placing Song Ankang in charge of White Jade Mulberry Forest, she turned her uncle's scheme into a strategic loss for him. 75

She later used evidence of Tang Quanli’s embezzlement to have him removed as Forest Lord and ordered to repay the stolen funds. 84

Fang Family Suppression

When Fang Zuhong humiliated the Tang Family and demanded the Golden Silkworm Garden, Tang Yelan initially chose restraint to prevent open conflict. Once the Fang Family’s demands crossed the family’s bottom line, she rejected further concessions and led the Tang Family in resisting them. 197 201
