It was only after Erza knocked Natsu down that Lucy, who had completely forgotten about it, finally arrived.
"Eh? Is it already over?"
She opened her mouth, looking a little helpless. She had been so focused on going home to write a letter to her mother that she had forgotten Natsu was supposed to challenge Erza.
Wendy, sitting on Feng Ye's shoulders, was slightly surprised when she saw Lucy approaching. Then she waved and greeted her. "Morning, Lucy."
"Morning, Wendy."
Lucy was briefly surprised as well, but quickly greeted Wendy with a smile. She also waved to Feng Ye. "Morning, Feng Ye."
"Morning."
Feng Ye smiled faintly.
Lucy looked curiously at Wendy and Feng Ye. "What are you two doing...?"
Feng Ye gently closed his eyes, and his body silently dissolved into a beam of light before reappearing about a foot behind where he had been.
Wendy slid down from his neck. He caught her with both hands and set her on the ground.
"Wendy is still a little too cute."
Feng Ye reached out and patted Wendy's little head as he chuckled.
Lucy blinked at Feng Ye's actions. Clever as she was, she quickly figured out what had happened. Imagining Wendy being blocked behind the crowd, anxiously waving her arms and jumping up and down without being able to see inside, she could not help but burst into laughter.
"Who won?"
After laughing briefly, she looked toward the center. Natsu had already been helped to his feet, while Mira walked over and handed Erza a towel.
"Erza won," Wendy said. "Natsu was still a little short."
"Figures."
Lucy was not particularly surprised. Seeing how terrified Natsu usually was of Erza, it was easy to guess that he had never been able to beat her.
