The Dark Land could not breed living beings, yet they required living creatures to be tainted by darkness in order to obtain Immortal Emperor scriptures. Thus, they devised this method to mass-produce beings that had fallen into darkness.

The Ancient Artifact of Origin was the source of contamination, while the Ancient Hall of Guidance was a passage linked to the Dark Prison, specifically meant to guide and capture those with potential and bring them to the Dark Land.

Countless ages ago, Butcher's ancestor and some of the founders of the Immortal Realm joined forces to bring down an Ancient Hall of Guidance. They uncovered some secrets concerning the Dark Land, but they also touched upon a taboo. Though both were artifacts forged by Quasi-Immortal Emperors, the Ancient Hall of Guidance could not compare to the Ancient Artifact of Origin. The Ancient Artifact of Origin was equivalent to a Quasi-Immortal Emperor weapon. It contained the will and primordial spirit of a Quasi-Immortal Emperor, and would awaken if certain taboos were touched upon, unleashing power capable of fighting a Quasi-Immortal Emperor.
