Judgment
A commotion suddenly erupted inside the courtroom.
Priest Sandaike rose from the witness stand next to Priest Theodore, still wearing the black Moon God Temple Priest Robe, with his hair down and a crescent-shaped ornament on his forehead, making him look very devout.
Two other priests sat beside him.
The Priest Sandike stood up, looked around, coughed lightly, and then spoke to the presiding judge with utmost composure:
"Your Honor, I am ready."
After saying this, Priest Sandike raised his head and looked over at High Priest Reed, even giving Roy a deep look.
The presiding judge, with his hands resting on the hanging basket, stood opposite Priest Sandaike and asked him, "Priest Sandike, someone saw you in contact with the deceased Pelius in the Lower District. What explanation do you have?"
For a time, many elves in the courtroom were discussing it, making the courtroom quite noisy.
The Priest Sandike blinked and said confidently:
"That's not true. I was just passing through that alley in the Lower District and knew nothing about Pelius's death..."
Upon hearing this, High Priest Reed couldn't help but look up at Priest Sandike.
The courtroom suddenly fell silent. Everyone was eager to hear the next question, and in an instant, the Hall of Judgment was quiet again.
The presiding judge was also somewhat uncomfortable, but he kept a straight face and asked Priest Sandike, "Priest Sandike, can you tell me how you obtained this Wisdom Holy Grail?"
Priest Sandike immediately said, "The Holy Grail is hidden in a drain in the Lower District..."
Seeing that the courtroom had quieted down, he paused for a moment, placed his hands on the table, and leaned forward. "When I was passing by that alley, I accidentally stepped on a stone slab of the drainage ditch. I originally intended to pick it up and put it on the side of the ditch, but unexpectedly I found the Wisdom Holy Grail deep in the ditch. After that, I brought it to Master Claire Latin's treehouse."
The judge stared at Priest Sandike and asked again, "Since you are a witness, what evidence do you have to prove that Priest Theodore killed Pelius?"
The Priest Sandike spread his hands, shook his head, and explained to the presiding judge:
"I cannot prove that Priest Theodore killed Pelius. I am here to testify that Priest Theodore agreed to the conditions proposed by me and Master Claire Latin in order to retrieve the Wisdom Holy Grail!"
"At that time, I happened to meet Priest Theodore, who was performing Holy Light Healing on Master Claire Latin in Master Claire Latin's treehouse."
"Priest Theodore wanted me to give him the Wisdom Holy Grail, and I wanted him to use the Wisdom Holy Grail to heal Master Claire Latin's illness. So we made this agreement: as long as Priest Theodore was willing to heal Master Claire Latin, whether he lived or died, we would eventually give the Wisdom Holy Grail to Priest Theodore."
"In fact, we are also certain that we will keep our promise and return the Wisdom Holy Grail to Priest Theodore."
The presiding judge waved his hand, signaling everyone to quiet down again.
Then the presiding judge approached Priest Theodore Priest Theodore and asked him, "Priest Theodore, do you agree with Priest Sandike's statement?"
Priest Theodore responded in a hoarse voice:
I agree!
"So, does anyone have any further objections to this trial?"
The judge flew above all the elves and asked them in a loud voice.
The surroundings fell completely silent...
Now that Master Claire Latin is dead and Priest Theodore has confessed, there are no other witnesses to prove that Priest Sandike and Master Claire Latin were involved.
And so, the Priest Sandike became a witness.
His only mistake was handing the Wisdom Holy Grail over to Priest Theodore.
Even so, the deceased Master Claire Latin would share responsibility with him, so the judge did not continue questioning other witnesses.
He slowly circled the Hall of Judgment three times before stopping again. "Then please, Arbitration Committee, give your final ruling!"
This period of time was rather long, and everyone could only sit in their seats and wait patiently.
The Arbitration Committee had a heated discussion in private, probably because differing opinions emerged among them.
After a long debate, the presiding judge suddenly flew above everyone's heads and stood inside the basket to announce:
"Given that the deceased Pelius, was the thief, and that Priest Theodore, as Priest of the Goddess of Freedom Temple, had the right to reclaim the lost Holy Grail, although he accidentally killed Pelius in the ensuing dispute, this situation is understandable. Therefore, the Arbitration Committee ultimately decided to convict Priest Theodore of murdering Pelius, Priest Theodore will serve 50 years in Parrham Island Prison."
Roy never expected that a court hearing would end like this...
It was clearly a conspiracy between Priest Sandike, Master Claire Latin, and Priest Theodore, with Priest Sandike ultimately killing Pelius and Windsor. Yet now it has become Priest Theodore chasing after the thief who stole the Holy Grail, accidentally killing him in the process.
Therefore, the Arbitration Committee believed that the matter was not very serious.
Since Priest Theodore took full responsibility, the trial proceeded exceptionally smoothly, and even Priest Theodore sentence was very lenient...
Neither Master Claire Latin nor Priest Sandike were implicated in the incident.
After the court hearing, High Priest Reed looked rather grim.
He did not raise any objections in the courtroom, but instead led Jasper, Abbott, and Roy out of the courtroom in a line.
As soon as they stepped out of the courthouse, they saw Priest Sandike standing at the entrance, flanked by a row of priests from the Moon God Temple. Under the shade of the Tree of Life, Priest Sandike appeared quite pleased with himself.
Seeing High Priest Reed emerge from the hall, he greeted him with a smug smile.
"High Priest Reed, in any case, I must congratulate you. The Wisdom Holy Grail has finally been found."
After speaking, Priest Sandike extended a hand to High Priest Reed High Priest Reed, wanting to shake hands with him.
High Priest Reed, however, wore a cold expression and said to him, "Although I don't know what price you paid to persuade Theodore, to be honest... I regret it a little. I should have let you stay at the Goddess of Freedom Temple when you came to me that day..."
Priest Sandike's expression changed slightly upon hearing what High Priest Reed said.
He stopped trying to embarrass himself and his smile froze on his face, making him look extremely awkward.
Roy, Jasper, and Abbott walked past him without the Priest Sandike giving them another glance.
As Roy boarded the carriage, he was still thinking about the Arbitration Committee ' verdict. He never imagined that killing a Half-Elf with a prior theft conviction would only result in a fifty-year prison sentence.
No matter how you look at it, this trial has a strong smell of conspiracy.
Moreover, Windsor's death was not mentioned at all during the trial, as if no one had ever heard of the name...
