Storming the Mine
Mine Owners Mine Owners Grantham, with a group of Half-Elf Warrior, hid in the battlements atop the fortress. Through the gaps in the wall, he saw thousands of Silver Moon Elf Warrior gathered at the foot of the mountain. At that moment, Grantham's mind went blank.
He had heard a month earlier that the Silver Moon Elf's Silver Pegasus Legion had invaded the Pagisto Plateau.
Just over ten days ago, he was still fantasizing that these Silver Pegasus Warrior wouldn't be able to find his mine, and that as long as he stayed obediently inside the fortress, he could avoid this trouble.
He even sent Highland Slavers to provoke the Silver Moon Elf cavalry in an attempt to draw their attention.
Just a few days ago, these Highland Slavers were driven away by a group of Silver Pegasus Warrior.
At that time, Mine Owners Grantham realized that things were not going well...
These Mine Owners had been living a peaceful life on the Pagisto Plateau for so long that they had forgotten how dangerous the Silver Moon Elf army was.
Previously, these Mine Owners cooperated with the Silvermoon Elven Nobles in Padesto City. They could exchange ore for some Elf Slaves, and then throw these Elf Slaves into the mines. With just a small amount of water and food, they could harvest some high-quality ore every day.
Later, a riot broke out on the Pattington Plane. The Silvermoon Elven Nobles in the Padesto City committed crimes, and the Slave Traders were wiped out by the Silver Pegasus Legion.
The supply of Elf Slaves was cut off, and no Elf Slaves were brought into the mines for a long time. As the number of slave miners in the mines decreased day by day, the Mine Owners Grantham began to think of ways to solve the problem.
With the Elf Slaves gone and the Pattington Plane sealed off, the Mine Owners began to make contact with the headhunters on the plateau.
The Mine Owners ' requirements were simple: as long as they could bring back some Elf Slaves, they would buy them at the market Elf Slaves, regardless of where the Mine Owners Elf Headhunters obtained them.
In fact, it was only after the buying and selling began that the Highland Slavers inflicted harm on the Half-Elf.
Grantham had assumed that this would be how his life would continue...
He never imagined that a Silver Moon Elf Silver Pegasus Legion would march into the Pagisto Plateau.
Yesterday morning, more than a dozen Silver Pegasus flew across the sky.
Silver Pegasus Warrior, bows and arrows in hand, hover high in the sky.
Mine Owners Grantham's heart sank...
At first, he hoped that the elven army was just passing through and would not discover the fortress disguised as a cliff.
When he saw the Silver Pegasus Warrior in the sky, he felt a sense of despair, but he did not give up completely and prayed that these Silver Pegasus Warrior were just passing by.
The Grantham Mine Owners's heart sank completely when the Cavalry Vanguard Regiment was stationed at the foot of the mountain.
Since last night, Grantham has lost his appetite, and even inside the fortress, there's a general sense of unease.
Before me stood a Silver Pegasus Legion with a distinguished military record.
He possessed a Lord's Private Army Lord's Private Army guarding the mines, which was no match for the Silver Pegasus Warrior.
An elven cavalry officer rode a warhorse, facing the fortress, and drew his Elf Long Sword, pointing it at the mine's fortress...
The Mine Owners knew that this battle was inevitable sooner or later. He looked anxiously at the elven cavalry below, his heart filled with extreme panic.
However, the elven private soldiers hiding beside him were also dumbfounded. Looking at the murderous elven cavalry at the foot of the mountain, the last bit of courage in their hearts was extinguished.
"Boss, those elven cavalry are about to attack. What should we do?" the private army leader asked in a hoarse voice.
He had no intention of fighting the Silver Moon Elf regular army. If the Grantham Mine Owners insisted that they fight the Elf regular army, then he and his group of Elf Warrior would simply tie up the Grantham Mine Owners and hand him over to the Silver Moon Elf army.
"What else can we do? Open the gates of the fortress and let them in, and we'll surrender," said the Grantham Mine Owners.
After saying this, he couldn't help but look up at the Silver Pegasus Warrior in the sky.
He even regretted not buying a few Cloud Piercing Ballista from the Gray Dwarf Bandit. If there were a few giant crossbows on the fortress, he would definitely have a good fight with the Silver Pegasus Warrior.
But now...
The Silver Pegasus Warrior only need to scatter the arrows from their quivers into the sky, and even his private elven army probably couldn't withstand it.
Upon hearing that the Mine Owners Grantham was preparing to surrender, the surrounding Elf Warrior all breathed a sigh of relief.
If this battle could be avoided, everyone would be more than happy to do so.
The private army leader was conflicted. He felt that he had handled the matter rather humiliatingly, but he couldn't wait to hang up a white flag.
He raised the white flag to the top of the flagpole, and then ordered his Elf Warrior to open the gates below the fortress to welcome the elven cavalry from the foot of the mountain into the fortress.
The flag was first spotted by the Silver Pegasus procession in the sky.
After consulting with their superiors, the two Silver Pegasus Warrior rode down in a Silver Pegasus motion.
As expected, once they entered the archers' firing range, the elven private army on the fortress walls did not make a move.
The Silver Pegasus Warrior did not land on the City Wall; they hovered in mid-air, only about three meters above City Wall. The Silver Pegasus flapped their huge wings, creating gusts of small tornadoes.
"All elves, lay down your weapons, place your hands and feet on the ground, do not put up any futile resistance, everyone stand on the City Wall..."
"Open the gates of the fortress, and all elves shall lay down their weapons and be subject to inspection by the Silver Moon Elf Warrior."
The two Silver Pegasus Elf Warrior kept shouting loudly.
Sure enough, it wasn't long before the elven private army pushed open one of the gates below the fortress, and squads of elven soldiers came out of the gate, piling up all the weapons they were carrying.
Commander Hekelis also arrived at the fortress gate with a squad of elven cavalry.
To be honest, if only the Cavalry Vanguard Regiment had attacked this mine, even if all five thousand elven cavalrymen had died... they might not have been able to breach the fortress.
However, there was now a formation of Silver Pegasus Warrior in the sky, so under their overwhelming power, the Mine Owners decisively surrendered, which showed that he was very pragmatic.
Commander Hekelis recaptured a mine without lifting a finger.
He stopped his horse in front of the large pile of weapons, watching the disarmed Mine Private Army. He waved to the elven cavalry behind him, signaling them to charge into the fortress.
The elven cavalry behind them bypassed Commander Hekelis and charged into the fortress.
Roy was also among the cavalry; he was currently a member of the Tenth Reconnaissance Squad and therefore had priority in exploration.
Captain Jones led everyone on horseback through the castle gates. There were even a few fruit trees under the courtyard. This U-shaped fortress was full of life. The inner corridors stretched upwards in circles, with clotheslines strung along them, on which bloodstained bandages were drying.
Some Half-Elf women peeked out from the terrace, looking at the group of elf cavalrymen before them with great trepidation.
There were even some wounded lying in the lower-level corridors, and the fortress was in a mess.
This was Roy's first time entering a fortress with such strong elements of daily life. He followed Captain Jones quickly to the second floor, where the rooms looked like dormitories, each with two single bunk beds.
Some walls still bear weapons, as well as some magical materials of commemorative significance...
Roy, mimicking Captain Jones, chased the elves they had found out of the room, leaving them to stand in the corridor and silently endure the Cavalry Vanguard Regiment's search.
Roy had been looking for the entrance to the mine, but the inner courtyard contained only two wells and some green plants.
Roy couldn't find the mine entrance. Logically speaking, a mine like this must have a very large entrance.
But now, Roy hasn't found the mine entrance at all...
On the second level of the fortress, all the female elves in these rooms were driven out, and almost every room was left in a mess.
"Your Mine Owners has surrendered. Now, everyone, please remain where you are. If anyone does not follow our rules, we will lock the troublemaking elves in iron cages, and those who commit more serious offenses will be killed on sight!"
Captain Jones kicked open a wooden door, Half-Elf lady inside clung to the wall in fright. These elf ladies were probably servants.
Roy rushed to the outside of the corridor and saw that it was crowded with elven women.
There were quite a few Elf Warrior standing in the courtyard.
Elf knights have already begun counting the number of elves in the mine...
Roy followed Captain Jones to the third floor, where the rooms were slightly better. Each room had only a bed and some furniture for daily life. Although the rooms were very simple, at least they had private rooms.
The elven servants living in these rooms likely held a certain status within the fortress.
Some of the elven servants were not even aware of what had happened outside, and when they saw the elven cavalry rudely barging in, they let out a series of loud screams.
The Silver Moon Elf then had to find a way to control these elven servants...
The entire mine fortress was in chaos, but as a large number of Cavalry Vanguard Regiment knights entered the fortress, the mine was quickly brought under control.
Teams of elven captives emerged from the fortress, and Captain Jones continued a thorough search of the rooms.
Roy stood at the doorway and watched as a group of Elf Warrior escorted a Mine Owners downstairs.
Captain Jones rummaged through a desk and found a bag of unpolished, orange-yellow gems, which looked like they had been found in a mine.
Commander Hekelis stood before the Mine Owners, looking at the pampered Half-Elf. He reached out and patted the Mine Owners's fat face forcefully, saying, "I heard you've been secretly buying Half-Elf from the Highland Headhunters lately. As a miner in the mine, is that true?"
The Gransam Mine Owners felt his face go numb from being slapped.
However, at this moment, with his life in the hands of the opposing officer, Gransam dared not resist in any way.
He forced a bitter smile and said to Commander Hekelis, "I don't know about other Mine Owners, but I definitely don't have any here. Why would I do such illegal things?"
After saying that, the Grantham Mine Owners pretended to be very innocent and said to Commander Hekelis, "Sir, did you and your soldiers come to my mine just to check these things?"
Commander Hekelis gave a cold laugh.
"Since we went directly to the plateau to arrest you, it means we've conducted an investigation into you..."
"I swear I didn't. Although I've been slandered by other elves, I'm not going to make these pointless excuses. I've brought you into the fortress in the hope of clearing up these misunderstandings..." the Grantham Mine Owners said eloquently.
After saying this, he took out a treasure chest from his Magic Pouch and carefully placed it at Commander Hekelis ' feet. Looking carefully at Commander Hekelis' cold face, he said with a smile, "This treasure chest is a gift I give to you because I admire you, Commander."
Commander Hekelis didn't even glance at the treasure chest at his feet, but instead stepped on it.
Then he ordered the elven rider beside him, "Take him away and lock him in a room..."
"Yes, Commander!"
Two elven cavalrymen stepped forward and took the Grantham Mine Owners away.
Commander Hekelis, his face grim, led a group of elven cavalry to the top of the fortress, where a group of the Mine Private Army awaited their arrival.
The Silver Pegasus Warrior held the highest point of the fortress and had completely taken control of the situation.
Commander Hekelis circled the top of the fortress and remarked to his adjutant, "This fortress is very well built..."
"Moreover, there are disguises set up outside, making it easy to overlook if you don't know the details here," the adjutant whispered in agreement.
"First, imprison all the personnel in the mine, and then we will officially take over this place," Commander Hekelis said. "Arrange for some elven cavalry to be stationed in the rooms of the fortress to figure out how this mine operates."
"Yes, Commander," the adjutant replied quickly.
Commander Hekelis wearily rubbed the corner of his eye and continued to ask his adjutant, "Have you found those Half-Elf miners?"
"We haven't found the entrance to the mine yet, but we expect to have definite news soon!" the adjutant said hurriedly.
Meanwhile, after searching the third floor, the Tenth Reconnaissance Squad did not continue upwards.
Led by Captain Jones, the Tenth Reconnaissance Squad returned to the first floor, where a large group of mine elves had gathered.
The elves were walking out in a line. Among these Half-Elf, there were more maids than servants. Everyone's eyes were filled with panic, and some of the Half-Elf maids even had tears on their faces from fright.
Captain Jones walked up to a Half-Elf who appeared to be in charge, stopped him, and asked:
Where is the entrance to the mine?
