Captain Jones
A sharp whistle sounded outside, startling all the Elf Warrior awake. They jumped out of bed, some without even putting on their Elf Warrior, grabbed the Elf Long Sword hanging on the wall, and ran outside as fast as they could.
Roy and Langbo were also awakened by the piercing whistle. They both slept in armor with their weapons by their pillows. Now, they got out of bed and rushed out of the dormitory.
Captain Jones was already waiting in the corridor. Seeing that his Elf Warrior weren't fully armored, he couldn't help but scold them:
"Hurry up and put on your armor! Do you think those headhunters are the kobolds of the Whisperwind Grassland?"
The Elf Warrior ran back to their dormitories to put on their Light Armor and then ran out to regroup.
Captain Jones's expression was grave as he addressed his Elf Warrior: "This isn't the first time you've faced the Highland Headhunters. I won't say more. These Highland Headhunters are ruthless. Don't engage them in direct combat. Our Silver Pegasus Legion's advantage lies in our superior equipment and exceptional martial skills."
"Yes, Captain!" a group of Elf Warrior responded.
Roy and Langbo stood among the group of Elf Warrior and echoed their sentiments.
Roy then began to chant the prayer of ' Strength Blessing ' continuously.
Divine runes lit up in front of Roy, and fist-shaped marks appeared one after another on each of the Elf Warrior in the Tenth Reconnaissance Squad.
As the Elf Warrior walked past Roy, they all playfully bumped into him with a punch.
Everyone knows that Roy is bestowing 'divine power' upon everyone, and this power can last for about fifteen minutes.
During the battle, everyone could clearly feel that they had inexhaustible energy.
The last ' Strength Blessing ' landed on Captain Jones, and Roy felt that the Holy Light Power in his body was almost exhausted.
When Roy ascended to become Priest, the nine tentacles of the Sacred Tree within him merged into a main root, and the Sacred Tree also fused with Roy's body. Now that Roy is a fifth-level Priest, countless fine roots have sprouted from this main root, constantly absorbing the Holy Light Particle around Roy every day.
The Sacred Tree, nourished by the Holy Light Particle, also slowly grew...
Seeing Roy cast ' Strength Blessing ' on more than a dozen Elf Warrior in succession, Captain Jones patted him on the shoulder with concern and asked, "Roy, do you want to take a break?"
Roy quickly waved his hand and explained to Captain Jones, "He'll recover soon, Captain Jones."
"Don't be reckless during the battle later," Captain Jones patted Roy on the shoulder.
Captain Jones was naturally eager to keep such a Priest in the reconnaissance team as a prized possession.
Roy's divine spell can boost the combat power of his Elf Warrior by a small level. The recent repeated commendations from the Vanguard Regiment to the Tenth Reconnaissance Squad are largely due to this divine spell.
A group of Elf Warrior ran up the corridor stairs toward the City Wall.
The sounds of fighting on the City Wall grew clearer and clearer, with roars and shouts of battle mingling together.
Chaos had already broken out on the fortress City Wall. When Roy climbed to the top of the City Wall, he saw the Highland Headhunters wielding spears emerging from the corners of the City Wall.
The Highland Headhunters are incredibly ruthless in battle.
Their spears may not be sharp, their leather armor may not be sturdy, but they are absolutely fearless. Every Highland Headhunters is extremely ruthless; they will risk serious injury to kill their opponent.
A Highland Headhunters was stabbed in the abdomen by Elf Warrior. Instead of dodging, he gripped the blade tightly with one hand while the spear in his other hand pierced the Elf Warrior's eye socket...
Although the Elf Warrior were skilled in combat, they were far less ruthless than the Highland Headhunters. Although they were warriors of the Seventeenth Silver Pegasus Legion, an elite force of the Silver Moon Elf Kingdom, they had never experienced such a brutal and bloody battle before, and were momentarily frightened by the ruthlessness of the Highland Headhunters.
The Elf Warrior were fully armed and stood in neat rows, with three rows in total, attacking in alternating shifts.
Originally, this military formation was like a steel Giant Beast devouring the Highland Headhunters in the corner of the City Wall, but it was thrown into disarray by the Highland Headhunters ' desperate counterattack.
Even though the Elf Archer on the surrounding Arrow Tower kept shooting arrows to snipe the Highland Headhunters, the Highland Headhunters still managed to break through little by little.
When Captain Jones led the Tenth Reconnaissance Squad to the City Wall, he saw that three rows of Elf Warrior had been reduced to only two rows by the Highland Headhunters. Without Captain Jones giving any orders, the Elf Warrior at the front began to regroup and fight.
Elf Warrior clad in Light Armor huddled tightly together on the City Wall, all simultaneously pointing their swords at the Highland Headhunters opposite them, unleashing a coordinated attack...
Amidst the flashing swords, the ebony spears were all severed, and the Elf Warrior once again gained the upper hand.
On the surrounding City Wall, one after another Highland Headhunters kept rushing up.
Many Highland Headhunters hadn't even gotten a foothold on the City Wall before they were pierced by arrows shot by Elf Archer and fell to the ground.
Roy and Captain Jones were the last to reach the City Wall, and could only squeeze at the top of the stairs, unable to rush to the front of the battle area.
However, the Elf Warrior of the Tenth Reconnaissance Squad were extremely brave, and with the sturdiness of their Light Armor, they once again forced these Elf Headhunters into a corner of the city wall...
But just then, a loud bang came from the gate below the fortress.
With a loud 'bang,' the entire City Wall trembled slightly, and a dozen seconds later, another loud crash came from the gate.
Captain Jones's face turned extremely grim. He hadn't even had time to gather the Elf Warrior of the Tenth Reconnaissance Squad; he only managed to shout, "Tenth Reconnaissance Squad, follow me..."
The Elf Warrior of the Tenth Reconnaissance Squad, who were engaged in a chaotic battle in the midst of the army formation, didn't even hear Captain Jones's roar. Only Roy, who was standing next to Captain Jones, heard it clearly and hurriedly carried the heavy Hammer of Judgment Book downstairs.
Only a few Elf Warrior from the Tenth Reconnaissance Squad heard Captain Jones 'Captain Jones footsteps, running downhill.
The Highland Headhunters launched another attack on the army formation. Blood flowed across the City Wall, and many Mine Private Army lay dead at their feet.
Magic Signal Flare soared into the sky, like fireworks during a festival...
The Highland Headhunters no longer concealed their presence and began to storm the main gate of the fortress amidst the chaos.
Hearing the shouts of battle coming from the City Wall, a group of the Mine Private Army, who were hiding not far from the main gate, immediately emerged from their hiding places.
After they worked together to push over a statue at the fortress gate, more than eighty Mine Private Army took out ropes as thick as their arms and lifted the statue up.
These private soldiers stood at the city gate, pointing the raised arm of the statue at the heavy gate inlaid with black iron spikes, chanting in unison, and moved step by step to the gate.
Then, eighty Mine Private Army simultaneously pushed forward, slamming the giant statue against the fortress gate.
'boom'
A dent appeared on the fortress gate, the heavy wooden planks on the gate were cracked, and several black iron spikes fell off the wooden door and rolled onto the gate opening.
The entire City Wall was shaken by the impact...
The eighty Mine Private Army joined forces again and used the statue at the entrance to smash the gate.
'boom'
No one knew the mine fortress's weaknesses better than this Mine Private Army. The giant statue only struck it twice, and cracks appeared in the seemingly foot-thick heavy wooden door. The bolts behind the door also became somewhat twisted, and the hinges of the door on the left side came off the wall.
The Mine Private Army gained confidence, and the Highland Headhunters hidden behind them also gathered from all directions.
The Elf Warrior guarding the first gate saw that the heavy wooden door had become extremely twisted, and even one of the three bolts on the door had been broken. They quickly ran out of the gate and pushed two wooden battering rams loaded with ore, which had been prepared in the courtyard, into the gate to block the entrance.
They then tightly locked the second door inside the doorway, and hurriedly added several supports behind it.
Then they closed the third door inside the doorway...
Before they could even close the third gate, the Mine Private Army outside had already smashed down the first gate of the fortress with a giant statue.
After the wooden door collapsed, the Mine Private Army quickly began clearing the obstacles from the doorway.
They began to ram the second gate of the fortress, carrying the giant statue...
When Captain Jones and Roy arrived at the fortress gate, the first gate had just been smashed down by the Mine Private Army using a statue.
When the gate collapsed, the entire stone floor shook violently.
The Elf Warrior guarding the gate were also dumbfounded. There were only eight Elf Warrior here. Once the Mine Private Army outside broke down the gate, these few Elf Warrior would not be able to stop the Highland Headhunters's charge.
Captain Jones considered for a moment, then turned to Roy and instructed, "Roy, go open Second Warehouse. You guys carry all the Spinel Ore out and pile it up at the third gate!"
"Yes, Captain Jones!"
Several Elf Warrior who had run down with Captain Jones quickly agreed.
Roy ran in front, holding the key to Second Warehouse. They were all bewildered by the sudden turn of events. A reconnaissance team was lurking inside Second Warehouse, guarding the entrance to the Secret Passage, and the door to Second Warehouse was also open...
Roy was very familiar with Second Warehouse. He pulled out two flatbed carts from the warehouse entrance and pushed them directly into the warehouse.
These large Wooden Box filled with Spinel Mine were so heavy that it took four Elf Warrior working together to lift Wooden Box from the shelves onto the flatbed cart.
They then used a flatbed cart to push these large Wooden Box to the front of the third gate and placed them behind it.
The two flatbed carts made seven or eight trips in a row, but only a layer of Wooden Box was piled up in front of the third wooden door before the third door began to shake slightly.
Unexpectedly, the Mine Private Army outside broke through two gates so quickly, and now they are starting to rush the last gate.
Once this gate is breached, the Highland Headhunters can rush directly into the mine fortress, making climbing the rock walls much easier...
Captain Jones then lifted the lids of two earthenware jars in the courtyard that resembled water vats. Roy leaned over and took a look, only to find that they contained not water, but viscous kerosene.
Captain Jones found a long-handled ladle, scooped up some oil from the earthenware jar, and quickly poured it onto the Wooden Box filled with ore.
He then urged Roy, "Why stop? Hurry up and bring over a few more crates of ore, the more the better..."
Roy hurriedly pushed the flatbed cart and ran towards Second Warehouse.
The Elf Warrior guarding the door followed Captain Jones and poured the kerosene onto the Wooden Box.
The sounds of impact outside grew louder and louder, the third door began to loosen, and even cracks appeared in the walls.
If it weren't for the large amount of ore behind the wooden door, the third door might have been broken down long ago...
As the black iron spikes above the gate fell off, the gate began to tilt inward, but was stopped by the ore Wooden Box. Captain Jones grabbed a torch from the wall and casually tossed it onto the Wooden Box, which were soaked in kerosene.
With a 'whoosh,' the flames spread outwards along the path of the spilled oil.
The entire pile of ore burst into flames.
Roy pushed out the Wooden Box filled with Gemstone Mine, only to find that the Gemstone Mine piled up at the third gate had caught fire, and the Wooden Box quickly began to burn.
"Push this box of ore over there too..."
Captain Jones ran over while giving instructions, helping Roy and the others push the cart.
Enduring the scorching heat, Roy and several other Elf Warrior pushed the Wooden Box into the flames.
With another loud bang, the third gate was finally breached by the Mine Private Army. But behind the gate lay Spinel Ore. The ore was originally packed in Wooden Box, but now those Wooden Box had been burned to ashes, and the ore, covered in kerosene, was glowing red-hot.
As soon as the third gate was breached, ore burning like red-hot coals poured into the doorway from behind it. The dozen or so Mine Private Army standing at the front had no time to dodge and were buried alive by the scorching ore.
The Mine Private Army standing behind immediately started crying and running away.
The Highland Headhunters, who was following behind, saw the third gate being breached and was about to rush into the fortress with the Mine Private Army when he bumped into the Mine Private Army that was escaping from the gate.
Thick, pungent smoke billowed out of the doorway, Mine Private Army fled out, crying and screaming.
The Highland Headhunters, who were trying to storm the fortress through the main gate, could only retreat a few steps with ferocious expressions...
Seeing the collapsed pile of ore into the doorway, the Elf Warrior in the inner courtyard breathed a sigh of relief. Captain Jones pointed to the half-full vat of oil by the wall and instructed the Elf Warrior:
"Once the fire on the ore pile gets smaller, try to pour some oil on it. As long as the fire doesn't go out, the Elf Headhunters outside won't be able to break through the gate..."
"Yes, Captain Jones."
The eight Elf Warrior guarding the door answered.
Captain Jones looked up at the City Wall, where the battle was still raging.
He said to Roy, "Let's go check out the situation up there..."
After saying that, he led the slightly weak-legged Roy up the City Wall. The Elf Warrior following behind him were all members of the Tenth Reconnaissance Squad.
