359 Pursuit
More than 500 Half-Elf -Half-Elf miners gathered in the camp. All of them looked up, their eyes fixed on Roy and Mulin on the stone platform.
A Divine Light shone above Roy and Mulin's heads; though faint, it illuminated their faces clearly.
Mulin wore silver metallic armor, which stood out conspicuously in the dim light.
Mulin took half a step forward and stood in front of the stone platform.
At least a third of the miners in the audience were mixed- Half-Elf Half-Elf from the Pagisto Plateau. It was easier for them to accept her when she stood up and communicated with them.
Mulin hugged the helmet to her chest and said excitedly, "I know that many of you here are Half-Elf from the Pagisto Plateau, and so am I."
Over the past three years, the Pagisto Plateau hunters have been conducting a frenzied hunting campaign against us.
Initially, they captured my family and friends and threw them into this dark and gloomy mine.
Later, they went even further, burning down our villages and displacing us.
During this time, we formed a Resistance Army specifically targeting the Highland Slavers, and at the same time established a refuge in the southwestern mountains, where at least 15,000 Half-Elf from various parts of the Pagisto Plateau have gathered.
I am able to stand here now because, with the help of the Silver Moon Elf army, the Mine Owners has fled.
The Silver Moon Elf military has now taken over the mine. A week ago, we lowered a Rope Ladder and a notice at the mine entrance. The Silver Moon Elf military released all the miners from their slave status, but unfortunately, none of our compatriots have climbed out of the mine to this day.
So today we came down here and saw the hard life here!
What I want to say is that you can come back to the surface with us now. You are no longer mine slaves; you are free Half-Elf.
Those who wish to leave with us, please pack your belongings shortly, and then we will break through the Dark Moon Elf Prisoners blockade together and leave in batches!
Mulin's words immediately excited the Half-Elf below, and the entire crowd erupted in cheers.
The Half-Elf in the audience were overjoyed and cheered, echoing Mulin's sentiments:
"We'll go with you!"
"We can finally go out!"
"This is wonderful! I've been waiting for this day for over twenty years. I thought I was going to die in this mine..."
Most of the Half-Elf miners began to take action.
However, a small number of Half-Elf stood still, looking at Mulin with suspicion.
A Half-Elf woman emerged from the elven herd. She wore a tattered linen dress, the hem of which was completely torn off, and there were several severely worn areas on her body. She had a well-proportioned frame, but she was too thin.
She walked step by step to Mulin's feet, looked up at Mulin, her eyes filled with doubt.
When the Half-Elf saw her come out, their steps suddenly faltered, and their gazes fell upon her.
"I disagree!"
The Half-Elf woman's voice wasn't very loud, but her words instantly cooled down the jubilant atmosphere.
She was holding the hand of an elf girl when she heard him say, "The group of Dark Moon Elf guarding the mine entrance are very strong, so strong that we have no ability to resist them at all."
"Initially, Yi Jisen also wanted to lead us away from here, but what happened in the end? The young soldiers who stood with Yi Jisen were still killed by them, weren't they?"
Once they discover any unusual activity on our side, they will kill all the disobedient elves, and then you and I will be killed by them too.
Many of those Dark Moon Elf Prisoners were assassins.
If you don't have the strength to deal with them, then please don't harm us. If you do have the strength to deal with them, then please drive them away first before taking us out.
I'm sorry, perhaps I'm being selfish, but I really don't want them to go and die. Life here may be tough, but at least they're alive.
She glanced down at the elven girl beside her, and a hint of tenderness appeared in her bitter eyes.
The elf girl gently tugged at the elf lady's skirt, raised her little face, looked at the elf lady with her clear eyes, and said in her childish voice, "Mommy, I want to go with them. I'm not afraid of those bad guys."
The elven lady gently shook her head, stroked the girl's dirty hair, and said to her, "They will kill you."
The girl pouted stubbornly and whispered a retort, "I'm not afraid of death. I want to see the outside world. Dad said he would take me outside to bask in the sun."
Mulin looked around with some confusion, then frowned and asked a somewhat older-looking Half-Elf in the audience:
"Please tell me, are those Dark Moon Elf Prisoners really that terrifying?"
The old Half-Elf squinted his cloudy eyes and said to Mulin, "They are the sons of the night. In this dark and sunless mine, we have no way to fight. They can hide themselves in the cave at any time and then stab us with knives. They can pop out anytime, anywhere, and we can't see them at all."
After the old Half-Elf finished speaking, he placed his finger on his right rib, where there was a scar.
"I tried it back then, and this scar is from that time. I almost died that time, but luckily I survived!"
Mulin said all this to the Half-Elf in order to make things simpler. If they could persuade these Half-Elf here and lead them out of the mine, then everyone would not have to return to this hellish place.
In the eyes of the elven lady and the Old Elf before them, the Dark Moon Elf in the mine were like a nightmare, terrifying everyone...
Mulin looked at her arm, not feeling that she had made any breakthroughs in martial arts recently! But in the battle in the shaft just now, Mulin easily dealt with a Dark Moon Elf assassin. How could they think that the Dark Moon Elf here were extremely terrifying beings?
Upon hearing Half-Elf said, Roy immediately realized that something was wrong.
The squad entered the shaft and encountered two Dark Moon Elf. At that time, he had already activated ' Glimmer Illumination Spell '.
When fighting the Dark Moon Elf, Roy's ' Glimmer Illumination Spell made it impossible for them to hide.
To these Half-Elf, the Dark Moon Elves, who could become invisible, were undoubtedly incredibly powerful...
However, for their squad, no matter how well the Dark Moon Elf hid, they couldn't escape Roy's Divine Light. Perhaps those two Dark Moon Elf didn't even know that their hiding place had already been exposed...
A series of alarm bells rang, and the mixed-bloods who had been gathered in the camp scattered, running quickly towards the various cave entrances.
The scene was chaotic.
Roy tried to stop everyone, but none of the Half-Elf were willing to pay him any attention.
All the Half-Elf miners were fleeing in all directions, and no one believed Roy and his companions.
The elf girl didn't want to leave, but her mother dragged her into a cave.
The Old Elf was also frightened and was about to run away, but when he saw Mulin and Roy still standing on the stone platform in a daze, he quickly stopped and reminded them:
"The Dark Moon Elf Prisoners are coming soon. You'd better find a hiding place quickly."
Standing to the side, Ge Lan was also terrified and said to them, "They're coming! You'd better run!"
Vitas remained silent, while Roy and Mulin glanced at him.
Mulin roared, "Let's charge straight over there and wipe out all those Dark Moon Elf Prisoners..."
"Stop talking nonsense! Do you know how many of them there are? Hurry up and leave!" The Old Elf stopped and tried to dissuade Mulin from her recklessness.
Ge Lan, with a pained expression, stammered, "You should leave. Ariel is right; only by bringing more reinforcements can we be saved."
Then she added quietly, "Let's go quickly, don't drag us down with us."
Seeing Mulin glaring at her angrily, Ge Lan suddenly became incredibly pitiful, adopting a pleading and obsequious demeanor, and whispered to Mulin:
Please.
Seeing Mulin's face turn pale with anger, Vitas quickly said, "I'll go with you. Don't make things difficult for them. If they wanted to resist, they wouldn't be in this state today..."
As he spoke, he pulled Mulin along and quickly walked towards a cave.
On the way, Mulin couldn't help but complain to Roy, "Roy, we should have turned around and gone back just now..."
"It's not too late now. I heard they have a lot of people. We should find a battlefield that's advantageous to us," Roy said casually as he followed behind Mulin.
Upon hearing Roy's words, everyone stopped in their tracks.
It was already quite far from the cave, Mulin really wanted to go back the way she came.
Captain Kepler, also stopped and pointed to a narrow cave nearby, saying:
"I think this place is pretty good. I reckon they should be able to catch up soon..."
Inside the cave, the scattered Half-Elf miners were once again gathered together by the Dark Moon Elf Prisoners.
However, the number of mining slaves they gathered was very limited; only a few dozen Half-Elf were gathered together.
A Dark Moon Elf Leader with dark blue skin, though shirtless, wore leather trousers and carried a military dagger in his hand. His fierce gaze swept across the faces of these Half-Elf.
Nearly a hundred Dark Moon Elf Prisoners surrounded the Half-Elf.
The Dark Moon Elf Leader spotted a stone platform where Roy and Mulin had just been standing...
He nimbly stood on it, then turned to the Half-Elf miners below and said:
"I know that they are hiding here. Their presence can still be felt here."
I don't care what their relationship is with you, what I want to do now is find out about those outsiders.
They angered me, but ran away without a word, so we followed the tracks they left behind and came here. If you hand them over, I promise to forgive your wrongdoing today. As long as you pay enough ore each day, we will still provide you with some food."
His voice was relatively calm for the first few sentences, but suddenly rose in pitch for the last one, causing the Half-Elf miners to tremble.
The Dark Moon Elf Leader squatted on the stone platform, using his military dagger to lift the chin of a Half-Elf and raise his head.
Blood immediately flowed down the Half-Elf's chin, and the Half-Elf trembled even more violently.
He struggled to lift his chin, trembling with fear as he made muffled noises, unable to utter a single word.
The Dark Moon Elf Leader glanced at the Half-Elf miners below the stage, his voice softening again. "I know that with so many elves, the amount of food allocated to you each day is a bit small for you, but what can I do? The amount allocated from above each day is simply not enough for all of us."
After saying that, he pointed to the top of his head.
He then sheathed his military dagger and haphazardly wiped his dirty hands on the blood-stained chin of the Half-Elf.
He brought his fingertips to his mouth and licked the blood off them.
A sinister glint appeared on the Dark Moon Elf Leader's face, which vanished instantly, replaced by a smiling Half-Elf below the stage:
"I think you all know in your hearts that they come from above. If we can capture them, we can use them to blackmail the spirits above and get them to provide more food. If this succeeds, I believe that we will all be able to stop eating those disgusting dried mushrooms."
The dozens of Half-Elf miners looked at the Dark Moon Elf Leader, but no one spoke.
A Dark Moon Elf in the audience immediately grabbed the messy hair of the Half-Elf next to him, pressed his head onto the stone platform, and plunged the iron dagger in his hand directly into the back of his hand.
The Half-Elf miner let out a piercing scream...
"I think... it's best to avoid this kind of thing from happening as much as possible!"
The Dark Moon Elf Leader's face turned cold, and he spoke sternly to the dozens of Half-Elf.
An Old Elf, finally unable to bear it any longer, stood in the crowd and said, "They've all left..."
Two Dark Moon Elf immediately pushed through the crowd and escorted the Old Elf to the stone platform. The Dark Moon Elf Leader squatted on the platform, tilted his head, stared at the Old Elf, and asked with a smile:
"At least I need to know which way they went, you must know, right?"
The Old Elf pointed timidly to the entrance of the mine where Roy's team had disappeared, and said hesitantly, "They left through this entrance."
Immediately, a Dark Moon Elf Prisoners ran over to check, and soon emerged from the mine, nodding to the Dark Moon Elf Leader in acknowledgment of the message.
The Dark Moon Elf Leader patted the Old Elf's face, wiped the dagger on his linen clothes, and sheathed it again.
A sly grin spread across his face as he said, "If you had said so earlier, none of this unpleasantness would have happened."
He finished speaking and jumped down from the stone platform, ordering the surrounding Dark Moon Elves, "Chase them!"
