Fair Trade
Spinel is a common magical gemstone, and elves like to use it to make exquisite ornaments.
Magicians grind some low-grade spinel into powder. This magical powder can be added to parchment Magic Scroll or used to make magical dyes, which will amplify the magical power of the runes when drawing Magic Rune.
High-grade spinel is quite precious and is almost always sold by the piece in Magic Shop. Spinel can be inlaid into various magical devices or at the top of a staff, amplifying the power of spells when magicians use the staff to cast spells.
Spinel and Spinel Mine, although they only have one suffix in their names, have very different prices.
No one can guarantee that every Spinel Mine will yield high-quality spinel; even the most skilled jewelers dare not make such a promise.
The bags now laid out in front of Roy were filled with polished spinel, and judging from their color, they were all top-quality spinel...
Roy glanced at the Gray Dwarf Dashel, Dashel was followed by two other Gray Dwarf. They looked younger, with shorter beards, and carried pickaxes and Stone Hammer on their waists. They looked as strong as bulls.
They looked behind the Dark Moon Elves, their eyes filled with deep fear, suggesting they had suffered greatly at the hands of the Dark Moon Elf in the past.
Roy pointed to the linen sacks and asked Dashel, "Is this all?"
Dashel pounded his chest a few times with his fist, then said confidently, "If that's not enough... there are some more in the Mine Road. We didn't have any barrels with us, so we had to bring some more."
Roy nodded.
At this moment, the Dark Moon Elf had unloaded a barrel of rum from the wheelbarrow and placed it in front of the three dwarves.
You can smell the faint aroma of wine without even opening the cork.
Roy waved his hand behind him, and a group of Dark Moon Elf carried over a large bathtub and an empty wine barrel.
After the Dark Moon Elves laid the large bathtub flat, they began pouring buckets of water into it without waiting for Roy's instructions...
The three Gray Dwarf were a little confused. Did they mean that everyone had to bathe and change clothes before making a deal?
The Dark Moon Elves Dark Moon Elves only stopped when they had filled the large tub with water, and the water was about to overflow the rim...
The Dark Moon Elves then scooped water from the bathtub into an empty wine barrel next to them until the barrel was full.
Roy then explained to the three dwarves:
"Now... all we have to do is fill the large bathtub with spinel until the water is about to overflow, which means that the spinel will just fill a wine barrel."
The three dwarves were surprised that the spinel was measured in this way. They tried to explain, but couldn't find any fault with it.
Then they watched as the Dark Moon Elves poured bag after bag of spinel into the bathtub, and only when the water in the tub was about to overflow did they begin to scoop out all the spinel.
After going through twenty rounds of trouble to collect twenty barrels of top-grade spinel, the Dark Moon Elf finally handed over the barrel of priceless rum to the three Gray Dwarf.
During the sorting process, since these spinels had all been washed with water, some spinels with cracks, flaws, and opaque colors were picked out by the Dark Moon Elves.
These spinels could only be classified as inferior spinels and were placed in a large Wooden Box.
"Would you like to exchange these low-grade spinels for ale?" Roy asked the three Gray Dwarf.
After saying that, he had the Dark Moon Elf fill three large cups with ale and handed them to the three Gray Dwarf, Dashel, Malanduo, and Maigedi. The three Gray Dwarf excitedly took the ale and, without thinking, drank it down in one gulp.
After finishing the ale, he vigorously shook the wooden glass before bursting into a satisfied laugh.
Dashel's eyes darted around, and he asked Roy, "So, in the future, if we select lower-grade spinels... can we also exchange them for ale?"
"Of course, but it's best not to mix these low-grade spinels with the high-grade spinels. It's better to pack them separately," Roy said casually. Then he added, "I've already given you the entire Northern Mining Area in the mine. You can go there and mine spinels without worry."
After saying that, he instructed the Dark Moon Elf to load all the spinels onto the wheelbarrow, and then handed a few salted fish and Breadfruit to the three Gray Dwarf, saying, "May our next transaction go just as smoothly!"
Dashel was overjoyed to see that Roy had prepared some extra gifts. He received salted fish and Breadfruit and quickly said:
"I'll be here waiting for you all again tomorrow..."
Only Malanduo and the Maigedi brothers muttered with some disappointment, "... It's a pity there's no stinky cheese or liver pie."
Dashel quickly had the two Gray Dwarf brothers lift the wine barrel, and the three dwarfs left happily...
The crane boom along the edge of the mine creaked and groaned incessantly. Although Roy had made some targeted reinforcements, the boom was still not up to par.
It took two trips to transport all twenty barrels of spinel back to the ground, and the old crane was still at risk of breaking down at any time.
This time, Mulin didn't go down into the mine with Roy. She waited until Roy came out of the mine before coming to the side. Looking at the spinel in her pocket, she asked in surprise, "You even had those Gray Dwarf polish the Gemstone Mine into spinel?"
"I guess these spinels are probably their stock; they didn't dare go out to mine ore last night."
Roy gripped the edge of the well with both hands, stepped out of the Wooden Box, and said to Mulin.
Mulin clicked her tongue and said to Roy, "These spinels must be very valuable in the Elf Continent, right?"
"I think so, but I haven't been paying attention to the market for magic gems before, so I'm not sure about their exact value," Roy replied.
At this moment, Captain Kepler walked in from the main gate. Hearing Roy and Mulin's conversation, he took out a spinel the size of a fingernail from his pocket and said to them:
"Just this big piece is enough to trade for a barrel of rum!"
Then Captain Kepler said to Roy, "The Logistics Regiment from the Valley Camp will arrive at our Second Mine tomorrow. In addition to rum, ale, and wheat flour, they will also bring the iron ingots and timber you requested. Furthermore, craftsmen will also be coming with the Logistics Regiment."
"That's great. An elven craftsman has come to repair this crane. At least we won't have to worry about riding in the gondola anymore..." Roy said.
Roy prepared to inventory and store the spinels, with Captain Kepler and Mulin helping him.
Fortunately, the Logistics Regiment Logistics Regiment will arrive at the Second Mine tomorrow, at which time they can transport these spinels back to the mine camp.
"Roy, I don't quite understand. Those Gray Dwarf have been locked up in the mines for so long, don't they ever think about escaping?" Mulin whispered to Roy.
Roy thought for a moment before saying, "They were probably scared by the Highland Headhunters on the ground."
The Captain Kepler beside him shook his head and said:
"Perhaps. We often deal with the Gray Dwarf Pirates in the Empress Ivini Islands. They are arguably the most treacherous and cunning pirates. Even with the Silver Pegasus Battle Group, we have not been able to wipe them out after so many Gray Dwarf. In fact, their numbers are increasing year by year."
"I think one reason is the Highland Headhunters on the ground. Another reason is that these Gray Dwarf are very afraid of the Dark Moon Elf, which is why they hide deep in the Mine Road and don't dare to come out normally."
Roy said.
