The Elves' Happiness
As the sun set, the entire mountain range was bathed in a pale gold glow. The logistics team formed a long line on the mountain, with each horse carrying heavy loads of ore. They could only move slowly along the ridge as if walking on thin ice.
It's estimated that this group of Silver Moon Elf might not be able to cross this ridge of the Second Mine until the middle of the night.
The adjutant wouldn't set up camp on the rocky ridge before leaving the mountain range, at least not to give Roy a reason to laugh at him. The adjutant's hasty departure from the Second Mine before sunset was an expression of his dissatisfaction with Roy.
Unexpectedly Roy would produce so much low-grade Spinel Mine, forcing his caravan to set off fully loaded...
Even before leaving the Second Mine, Silver Moon Elf was already grumbling under his breath. The setting sun cast a long shadow of him, and the adjutant following behind the caravan grew increasingly gloomy...
Roy stood on the City Wall, watching the logistics cavalry slowly advance along the ridge. Roy turned to Mulin beside him and asked, "Mulin, what do you usually eat on the plateau?"
"When we were in the village, there were bushes around our dwellings. Our main food was Red Berry and Four Seasons Berry. There were also some wild fruits to eat in the nearby mountains. When those Highland Headhunters burned down the village, they destroyed even the berry bushes. Now, the supplies in the settlement are very scarce. In order to find food, the gathering team has to go a long way to find something to eat," Mulin said with some difficulty.
"Are there any of those Red Berry you mentioned near the mine?" Roy asked again.
Mulin replied, "I know two places nearby with berry bushes..."
"Then you'll have to work hard tomorrow and take some people to collect some berries."
After Roy finished speaking, he walked down the City Wall.
Back in his room, Roy sat at his desk, picked up Quill Pen, and wrote a letter to Leishande, saying that he was currently operating two mines and needed a caravan to transport some supplies from Rampart Town to the mines.
After writing the letter, Roy handed it to a young Half-Elf, instructing him to ride back to the settlement the next morning and deliver the letter to Leishande.
Although the logistics department delivered far fewer fresh apples this time, they did send over a hundred boxes of Elf Biscuit.
Elf Biscuit are the rations for elves on their marches. Eating one meal will keep them from feeling hungry for several days in a row, so even if the mines are cut off from supplies, they can last for at least two months.
In addition, Roy also had a small bucket of Tree of Life Sap.
The Tree of Life Sap is not only a drink that quickly replenishes energy, but regular consumption can also improve the physical condition of elves. If they occasionally experience symptoms such as headaches or fever, drinking a cup of diluted Tree of Life Sap can quickly relieve the symptoms.
The quota was too small. According to the list, there were originally two small buckets of Tree of Life Sap, but the adjutant intercepted one of them.
Roy's reason for not wanting to compromise is simple: if he compromises once, it will become a habit...
The Second Mine was bustling with activity...
More than two hundred Half-Elf were building a long wall outside the mining fortress using waste stone and mortar dug from the mine. This was the prototype of the stable, and a roof would be built on the wall in the future. There was not enough wood in the mine, so Roy planned to have the Half-Elf in the settlement cut down some Red Pine and then have the caravan of Leishande transport the wood over.
After the wooden frame of the roof is erected, a row of planks is nailed on, covered with some twigs and pine branches, and then moss is laid on the outside. Only then is the stable considered complete.
The Half-Elf were very familiar with the climate of the plateau, and these buildings could only withstand the cold north winds of the plateau by being constructed in this way.
Mulin led a group of Half-Elf away from the Second Mine for a whole day, only returning just before dark, bringing back more than twenty baskets of Red Berry.
That evening, the Half-Elf cooked some sour soup made from Red Berry in the kitchen, adding some maple syrup. It tasted alright.
Having learned about the Gray Dwarf ' mining speed, Roy immediately stipulated that he would only bring out a barrel of rum to trade spinel with the Gray Dwarf every five days.
Seeing that the Dark Moon Elf wouldn't come out to rob the ore, the Gray Dwarf delivered the Gemstone Mine to the mine exit, where they could exchange ten barrels of Gemstone Mine for one barrel of rum.
After arranging one thing after another at the Second Mine, Roy, along with Captain Kepler and Mulin, decided to formally establish the Second Mine Guard Team.
The Guard Squad is tentatively set at 500 Elf Warrior. In addition to the 300 young Half-Elf that Mulin brought back, Roy also selected 200 Elf Warrior from more than 600 Half-Elf miners.
The selection of five hundred Half-Elf Warrior Guard Squad has become the talk of the town among all the elves in the Second Mine.
Even the Dark Moon Elves in the mines seemed to have heard about it, and they were even worried that Roy would abandon them in the mines again after forming Mine Guard.
The comfortable days have only lasted a few days, and nobody wants to go back to the way things were before.
The Elf Warrior of the Mine Guard stood in neat rows in the courtyard. Roy stood on the second-floor terrace, his hands gripping the railing, and addressed the Half-Elf Warrior below:
"Everyone, I had Captain Mulin invite you to the Second Mine so that we could form a Guard Squad to fight the headhunters on the plateau."
"That's right, your opponents are a group of treacherous, cunning, vicious, and ruthless Highland Headhunters. It was these Highland Slavers burned down your villages, kidnapped your relatives, and made you homeless..."
"Now I want you to take up arms and fight, to declare war on the Highland Headhunters."
"The elves are not so easy to bully."
These young Half-Elf elves had spontaneously formed Resistance Army, but they lacked various military supplies in their settlement and could only stay in the mountains, relying on the treacherous terrain around them to deal with the Highland Slavers.
Now Roy says that the Guard Squad at the mine are going to fight the Highland Headhunters, which hits the nail on the head for these Half-Elf.
"Mulin will serve as the captain of the Mine Guard."
After saying that, Roy had Mulin stand beside him.
These young Half-Elf had almost all followed Mulin, so naturally they supported Mulin becoming the captain of the Guard Squad.
Roy had the elves open Warehouse Number Six, which contained weapons and armor left behind by the previous Mine Owners. Although there were only a little over two hundred sets of armor, not enough to provide every Elf Warrior with a set, the Elf Warrior could at least wear armor and carry weapons during their daily patrols.
Roy is also preparing to build an Shooting Range on the west side of the fortress, so that all the Half-Elf Warrior can become proficient in archery.
Seeing that Roy had assembled a Guard Squad of 500 men in just two weeks, Captain Kepler was amazed and prepared to lead the Silver Moon Elf Guard Regiment away from the Second Mine.
The First Mine under Roy's jurisdiction is currently also home to a Silver Moon Elf Guard Regiment.
In reality, they were a group of Silver Moon Elf Warrior assigned by Captain Kepler's Guard Regiment.
Now, Captain Kepler is preparing to withdraw from the Second Mine, and the Silver Moon Elf Warrior from the First Mine will also leave with Captain Kepler.
Roy then left Mulin to guard the Second Mine while he led two hundred Half-Elf guards to the First Mine.
The First Mine, located in the same vein as the Second Mine, appears from afar as a huge cliff protruding from the North Slope the mountain. However, at this moment, the banner of the Silver Pegasus Legion is fluttering in the wind atop the cliff, allowing Roy to spot the mine fortress at a glance.
The Elf Warrior patrolling the city walls seemed to have noticed Roy's group as well. Soon after, Roy saw Bolang standing on the City Wall, waving excitedly at Roy.
Then, the gates outside the mine fortress were opened early.
Roy rode his horse slowly into the mine fortress, followed by two hundred Half-Elf Warrior.
The fortress at the First Mine has been rebuilt with three gates, and all the holes drilled in the outer walls have been plugged with mud.
Passing through the deep doorway and entering the fortress, the courtyard was also clean and tidy.
A crane was parked next to the mine shaft, and a huge Wooden Box was placed on the edge of the shaft; everything had been restored to its original state.
The bloodstains and scorch marks left from that battle have been cleaned up, a layer of mortar has been applied to the walls, and there are even some potted plants on the railings of the corridor.
Langbo rushed down the stairs and bumped shoulders hard with Roy.
"Hey, Roy, you're finally back," Langbo said with a laugh.
"Well done, Langbo, you've managed the First Mine very well!" Roy praised, standing in the courtyard and looking around.
Among the Half-Elf behind Roy, many of the younger ones knew Half-Elf and kept Langbo Langbo the group.
Langbo was also pleasantly surprised and asked his friends in the gathering, "Ha, what brings you all here?"
"It's all because of that girl, Mulin. She told us a lot about the battle situation here and how much the mine needs manpower, so we followed her here!" a Half-Elf said to Langbo.
Langbo walked over and greeted his friends, "It's so great that you guys came. I dream about the Highland Headhunters climbing the City Wall every night. Sometimes I wake up from my dreams in a fright. Now that you're here, we can share the burden. Hehe."
A group of young Half-Elf shouted, "Langbo, you're still the same as before, you haven't changed at all..."
Inside the fortress of the First Mine, besides the hundred Half-Elf Mulin brought, there were only Elf Warrior from the Silver Moon Elf Guard Regiment.
The Silver Moon Elf Warrior heard that Captain Kepler would arrive at the First Mine a little later, and that Captain Kepler would then lead all the Silver Moon Elf Warrior back to the Valley Camp.
Upon hearing this news, the Silver Moon Elf Warrior all happily raised their fists.
Langbo arranged dormitories for these Half-Elf. All the Half-Elf in the mine gathered in the dining hall. Dinner was simple, but the elves played beautiful accordions...
Cheerful notes drifted out of the restaurant, proving that happiness can be so simple.
