Dwarf Blacksmith
"Boss, we found a Blacksmith Furnace inside the mine, and there are three Gray Dwarf over there claiming to be blacksmiths!"
Captain Timothy, the Dark Moon Elf, found Roy again and reported excitedly.
Roy sat in the mine, looking at the group of strong Gray Dwarf in front of him, considering how to manage them.
The Dark Moon Elf in the Third Mine might not be able to control these Gray Dwarf.
Upon hearing Captain Timothy's words, Roy's eyes lit up, and he stood up to ask, "Where are they?"
"I've brought them back," Captain Timothy chuckled and replied.
He decided to bring the three dwarf blacksmiths along because Roy had given the old dwarf Putejisi a lot of preferential treatment, and he knew in his heart that Roy had a different attitude towards dwarf craftsmen.
The mine was still a chaotic scene, with a group of Half-Elf miners queuing in front of the shaft, waiting to ride in a gondola back to the surface.
More than 170 Gray Dwarf squatted inside the mine, awaiting their fate.
The Half-Elf Warrior, working alongside the Dark Moon Elf Warrior, searched the mines for any remaining survivors.
The Dark Moon Elf miners had also gathered in the nearby mine. Roy had already had the elves bring some food from the warehouse and distribute it to them to fill their stomachs...
Roy followed Captain Timothy to see the three dwarven blacksmiths, who were sitting together nervously. Although they were not bound by ropes, two Half-Elf Warrior were staring at them with serious expressions.
The three dwarf blacksmiths all looked like old men with long beards, and they were all dirty and had burns all over their arms.
Roy walked over and asked the three dwarf blacksmiths about their origins.
According to them, they originally traveled to the Elf Continent on a merchant ship, intending to exchange forging tips with the Elf Continent artisans. However, they were kidnapped by Gray Dwarf Bandit and taken to Pirate Island, where they have been forging weapons and armor for the Gray Dwarf ever since.
Until the elven army conquered the Pirate Island, they and the Gray Dwarf became prisoners of war. After several transfers, they were finally sold to the Pattington Plane.
However, the Slave Traders in Padesto City seemed unaware of the difference between the Gray Dwarf Bandit and the dwarf craftsmen.
They locked all the dwarfs up together and sold them in bulk.
They and a group of Gray Dwarf were thrown into the mine. The dwarven craftsmen had no choice but to return to their old trade in the mine. They managed to build a simple Blacksmith Furnace with great difficulty, but unfortunately there was not enough coal or iron ore suitable for smelting in the mine. So they could only modify some pickaxes and make some metal armor plates for the Gray Dwarf Bandit.
Roy didn't care how much exaggeration the three dwarf blacksmiths' story had! Since they were dwarf blacksmiths, they were skilled workers, and the mine happened to need them. So he said to the three old dwarf blacksmiths, whose ages were hard to discern:
"I have captured all the Gray Dwarf Bandit in this mine. Their fate is to spend the rest of their lives digging for Gemstone Mine in this mine."
"Now I'm giving you two choices: one is to stay and mine with them, and the other is to come with me to the mine. I'm planning to build a Blacksmith Workshop there. Your daily tasks will be repairing tools, shoeing horses, and making some simple tools, etc. These kinds of things shouldn't be too difficult for you."
So, should I choose option one or option two?
Roy wasn't going to give these dwarven blacksmiths much time to think. Even if they chose one, Roy would probably bring them to the ground, build a simple blacksmith shop, and have the three of them work there.
After all, they were three blacksmiths, and Roy had witnessed their craftsmanship firsthand.
It has to be said that it is quite difficult to modify one end of a pickaxe into an axe blade without compromising the pickaxe's balance.
Among the three dwarf blacksmiths was a Red Beard Dwarf who blinked his small, beady black eyes, hesitated for a moment, and then asked timidly:
"If I choose the second option, will you serve wheat cakes and stewed meat with onions?"
Roy replied without hesitation, "Of course. If you do a good job, you can have a glass of ale with dinner. In addition, you can enjoy a day off for every six days you work. You can go hunting on the grasslands or sunbathe on the rooftop lounge chairs all day long. It's up to you."
The three dwarf blacksmiths stared wide-eyed at each other, and all said:
"I'm fine with it, I can go with you anytime."
"I'm fine too..."
"..."
And so, Roy brought three dwarf blacksmiths up from the mine.
Although there was no blacksmith shop, no small smelting furnace, no anvil, and no coke in the Third Mine, these were not problems.
The missing materials can be requested from the Silver Pegasus Legion.
Roy didn't have high expectations of them. These three dwarven blacksmiths didn't need to forge sophisticated or complex weapons and armor; they just needed to be able to repair tools.
With the problems underground in the Third Mine resolved, the Gray Dwarf in the mine became the main miners.
The Half-Elf miners were rescued from the mine by Roy and regained their freedom. However, they heard that life in the settlement was not easy either. The Pattington Plane was still under lockdown, and they could not return to the Elf Continent for the time being. In particular, the Highland Slavers were robbing Half-Elf everywhere, so they were full of worries about life outside the mine.
Some Half-Elf who originally lived on the plateau naturally went to the settlement to find their relatives.
A large portion of the Half-Elf also came from the Elf Continent. They had come from all over the Elf Continent to seek their fortune in Padesto City. However, once they arrived in Padesto City, they discovered that it was not as good as the rumors suggested. Although there were Half-Elf everywhere, they were still under the control of the Silver Moon Elf.
While they were wandering aimlessly in the Padesto City, they were inexplicably captured and brought to this place.
Decades have passed in the blink of an eye, and they seem to have gotten used to the dark and gloomy life underground.
Now that they have heard that they have regained their freedom, they are overjoyed at first, but when they think about their future life and this unfamiliar dimension, they still dare not leave the mine.
The Pattington Plane has only one Elf City — Padesto.
Apart from Padesto City, they had nowhere else to go.
But the shadow cast by the Padesto City was too great. They heard that if they stayed in the mine, they could continue to go down into the mine to mine, and they could return to the mine dormitory to rest after each day of work. If they found Gemstone Mine, they could also get a sum of money.
Of course, Roy didn't have time to say any of this, as he was busy helping the dwarf blacksmith build Blacksmith Furnace these past two days.
Roy was surprised that Half-Elf would dare to stand in the corridor and ask him a question:
"Boss, if I continue to work in the mine, can you pay me a salary?"
"Yes... yes!"
Roy stopped and looked at the gaunt-faced Half-Elf, then answered.
He couldn't quite understand these Half-Elf. They had gained their freedom and could have left the Pagisto Plateau and gone anywhere to breathe fresh air. Why did they still have to carry pickaxes and crawl into dark mines to dig for stones?
However, he did not say these words aloud.
The number of elves in the Third Mine is still quite small. It would be good if some Half-Elf were willing to stay.
As for the Dark Moon Elf Prisoners, they would have to remain in the mine, Roy recorded the name of each Dark Moon Elf Prisoners.
The management system for them is exactly the same as that for the Second Mine. As long as it is determined through investigation that they have served their full sentence, these Dark Elf will regain their freedom.
However, Roy did not intend to select Assassin Squad warriors from among these Dark Moon Elf.
Their main job underground was to supervise the Gray Dwarf as they worked.
Roy also used the same tactics he used against the Dark Moon Elf at the Second Mine, setting up tents in the mine, providing ample food, and even building bathrooms...
The Dark Moon Elves ' life underground became much more comfortable, and they had something to look forward to in the future.
In a room near the kitchen in the Third Mine, three dwarven blacksmiths had already built a makeshift Blacksmith Furnace, and the Red Beard Dwarf had even made a bellows out of wooden planks. They had also brought in large pieces of scrap stone from outside, intending to use these Lapis Lazuli as a temporary substitute for an anvil.
The day after the simple Blacksmith Furnace was repaired, a wisp of smoke began to rise from the chimney of the Blacksmith Workshop.
Around noon, the sound of the dwarf blacksmith clanging away in his shop could be heard...
In fact, the three dwarven blacksmiths did not expect that their first task in the blacksmith shop would not be a simple repair job, but rather to forge a type of shackles suitable for the Gray Dwarf.
Moreover, it was specially made to fit the size of a dwarf's ankle, meaning this thing can only lock up dwarves.
