Magic Airships
From the Plateau City to Padesto City.
If traveling by land, one needs to start from the mountain pass in the Southern Plateau, follow the treacherous cliff road to the foot of the mountain, then pass through the Hilly Mountain Area to reach Griffon Bulwark, and then turn north through the dense jungle to reach Padesto City.
Even for Leishande's caravan, the journey would take a month.
If the Griffon Cavalry fly directly east, they can reach Padesto in just three days and three nights.
Roy departed from the Plateau City, riding Kaka's griffin along this air route. The griffin only needed to fly into the Wind Stream Layer, spread its wings, and glide all the way to quickly fly over the Nikoba Mountain Range and enter the airspace Land of Ruin.
When there are no clouds, Roy, riding on the back of a griffin, can clearly see the sharp, razor-sharp mountain ranges below.
Even flying through the sky, Roy could see the mountains rising higher and higher, with countless rocks breaking off and collapsing, then crashing into the deep ravines on either side.
The earth's crust in this region is constantly in motion, with countless mountains rising from the ground and countless others collapsing rapidly amidst flying dust.
This is the Land of Ruin between the Pagisto Plateau and the Padesto Forest...
The griffin flew over this Land of Ruin for a whole day. When it reached the edge of the Land of Ruin, the violent tremors of the earth's crust subsided. The precipitous mountains became gentler here, and countless swamps and lakes were nestled between the mountains. These lakes converged into rivers that flowed into the Padesto Forest.
Roy saw a vast sea of forests in his sight, and he knew that he would arrive at the Padesto City soon.
This time, Kaka took him along, braving the bitter cold to fly through the Wind Stream Layer, because Roy wanted to survey the airway in the Wind Stream Layer.
He was going to Pattington Island to check on the progress of the Magic Airship's modification. After the first Magic Airship was successfully modified, Roy planned to open a shipping route between Padesto City and the Plateau City.
A large amount of Metal Ingots are now stockpiled on the Pagisto Plateau, but Leishande's three caravans have limited transport capacity and simply cannot transport these Metal Ingots to the Padesto City.
Once we have Magic Airship, we can greatly alleviate the problem of insufficient transport capacity between Padesto City and the Plateau City...
After the griffins arrived in Padesto City, they landed in an orchard outside the city. Roy would rest in the orchard for the night before riding to Padesto City.
Kaka rode his griffin to Rampart Town overnight, where he would wait for Roy.
When Roy arrived in Padesto City, he went straight to the warehouse to meet with Langbo. The warehouse was completely empty of Elementary Magic Herbs, and what was left were just ordinary Metal Ingots that were not very valuable.
"Roy, where did you find these buyers? They have huge appetites; they devoured all of our Elementary Magic Herbs in one go."
Langbo held a thick stack of invoices in his hand and said excitedly to Roy.
"Langbo, is there a market in Padesto City that trades magical beast materials? I have some magical beast hides I want to sell," Roy pulled Langbo aside and asked in a low voice.
"Right now, the trading of monster materials is all done through the Silver Pegasus Legion's designated Trading Company. They drive down the purchase price here to an extremely low level, and then transport the goods to the Elf Continent to sell them at a high price, making a profit from the price difference. You'd better send your things to the Elf Continent. As long as you can get through that door in the Central Square, the price can at least triple." Langbo whispered to Roy.
Roy thought it would be better to take it to the Elf Continent to sell, since he was going to Pattington Island to check on the progress of the Magic Airship's modification.
"Okay, got it."
Roy didn't stay at the warehouse. He rode to the Silver Pegasus Military Department to sign in, and then went to the City Defense Guard to visit Commander Berkeley.
"You've come at the right time. The investigation team sent by the Buenos Elven Council of Elders left Padesto City quietly a week ago. They didn't even use the guides provided by the Silver Pegasus Legion, but instead hired a local Adventure Group in Padesto City. They probably plan to sneak into the Pagisto Plateau."
When the Commander Berkeley saw Roy, he immediately told him some bad news.
Roy nodded and smiled, saying, "Without the help of the Silver Pegasus Knights, it would have taken them at least another month to reach the Southern Plateau. I still have plenty of time..."
"The price of Magic Herbs on the Elf Continent is soaring right now. I must say, you really have a knack for business!" Commander Berkeley praised, then asked Roy, "What brings you here this time?"
Roy chuckled at Commander Berkeley and said, "I plan to build an airport on the outskirts of Padesto City, and I need your support for that!"
"... Air Port Dock... Roy, you want to buy Magic Airship? To open a route on the Pattington Plane?" Commander Berkeley stared wide-eyed at Roy.
"Yes, the first Magic Airship is being modified on Pattington Island," Roy replied.
"Roy, you're really bold. Have you thought about what to do with the Magic Airship you spent so much money modifying if the Air Port Dock application isn't approved and the plan falls through?" Commander Berkeley asked Roy somewhat anxiously.
"Then let's transport this Magic Airship to the Plateau City and have it fly in circles around the Pagisto Plateau..."
Roy said somewhat casually.
"... You really have a lot of guts."
Commander Berkeley pointed to Roy's forehead and said.
Roy only left the city defense camp after the Commander Berkeley agreed to help Roy apply for the construction of Air Port Dock of Padesto City.
Upon arriving at the Central Square, Roy led his horse to the Teleportation Portal and stood at the end of the line, waiting to pass through Teleportation Portal.
He was quite lucky today. When he arrived at the Central Square, the Teleportation Portal was right on the way from Padesto to Pattington Island. A large amount of supplies that had been stockpiled in the Central Square had already been transported there, and now it was the elves with passes who were passing through the Teleportation Portal.
Roy discovered that the vast majority of the elves who could freely enter and exit the Pattington Plane were Silver Moon Elf.
Upon arriving at the Teleportation Portal, the Half-Elf guards didn't even check Roy's Teleportation Pass. They simply saluted and let Roy pass through the Teleportation Portal amidst the astonished gazes of countless Silver Moon Elf.
Pattington Island was crowded and busy because a large shipment of supplies from Padesto City was piled up in the town square.
When Roy walked over, many carriages were parked around the square, busily transporting these supplies.
Arriving at the edge of the square, Roy was already very familiar with the town.
He chose to take a detour out of the town.
Upon arriving at the beach, Roy could see the area where the Three-Masted Sailboat were anchored. He found a Flying Fish Boat on the shore, negotiated a price with the Flying Fish Boat, and the Half-Elf owner then took Roy to the Safe Harbor the Three-Masted Sailboat were anchored.
"After the economic recovery in the Pattington Plane, life on Pattington Island must have improved a lot, right?"
Roy, sitting on the feathered boat, asked the Half-Elf piloting the fishing boat.
"Yes, almost every month a large amount of supplies are transported from the Pattington Plane. When we are short of money, we just have to go to the dock and wait, and someone will take the initiative to hire us..." The Flying Fish Boat adjusted the angle of the wind vanes, and a gust of wind blew by, and the Flying Fish Boat cut through the waves and moved forward.
The Flying Fish Boat approached a Three-Masted Sailboat that was being modified. From a distance, Roy could see six support frames being installed on the port side of the ship, and a group of craftsmen were still busy on the Three-Masted Sailboat.
Roy steered the Flying Fish Boat closer...
The Half-Elf Warrior on the Three-Masted Sailboat noticed a Flying Fish Boat approaching, and several Flying Fish Boat immediately surrounded it.
When the Elf Warrior saw that the person who had come was Roy, they immediately sent Roy to the Three-Masted Sailboat that was being modified.
The old dwarf Maggs was standing on the deck, leading a group of Half-Elf crew members to dismantle a large Wooden Box Wooden Box containing a brand-new Floating Device. Maggs himself tore off the dust cover from the Floating Device.
The Floating Device has an outer diameter of more than two meters and a height of about one and a half meters. It will take some effort to fix it to the bracket on the edge of the ship's side.
However, the old dwarf Maggs had already installed a pulley system on the mainmast, and with the help of the crossbar on the mainmast, he had transformed it into a gantry that could rotate in place...
Under Maggs's command, the Floating Device was steadily hoisted and slowly moved toward the support frame.
Once the Floating Device reached its designated position, Maggs instructed two dwarf apprentices to place several wooden wedges underneath it to aid in Floating Device, and then allowed the Floating Device to slowly descend.
The Floating Device was thus securely mounted on the support frame on the ship's side.
Then the wooden wedges around the device were removed, and the Floating Device was firmly fixed to the support frame with some iron rivets.
The elves and dwarves who were busy all around cheered happily.
Roy walked up from behind. The old dwarf Maggs noticed that many Half-Elf crew members were focused on one spot. He glanced in that direction and saw Roy walking towards him.
The old dwarf Maggs's body, which had just relaxed, immediately tensed up again...
"Don't be nervous, I just came to check on the progress of the Magic Airship's modification. It seems to be going quite smoothly?" Roy smiled and waved to the old dwarf.
The old dwarf Maggs took a handkerchief from his pocket, wiped the sweat from his brow, and then respectfully said to Roy:
"Boss Roy, the modification project of the Floating Device on both sides of your sailboat will be completed soon. After that, two sets of Propulsion Device need to be installed at the stern, which can only be done after the Floating Device are installed and tested..."
Roy nodded.
The Half-Elf crew began installing another Floating Device.
Roy called the old dwarf Maggs to his side and asked him, "After this Three-Masted Sailboat is converted into Magic Airship, can it be put into use immediately?"
"Yes, but it needs to be checked systematically before it can be put into use."
The old dwarf Maggs rolled his swollen eyes and honestly told Roy.
"How much longer will it take to complete the modification of the first Magic Airship?" Roy pressed.
"If all goes well, it will probably take another four weeks. The main task next is to build a repair stand for a Three-Masted Sailboat on the beach. We need to elevate the Three-Masted Sailboat so that we can install the Propulsion Device at the stern."
The old dwarf Maggs had just taken out a blueprint from his pocket, and then pulled Roy to a table on the deck, pointing to the blueprint and explaining it to Roy.
Roy could barely understand many of the technical terms spoken by the old dwarf Maggs, but he still gave Maggs an encouraging look.
Roy stayed on Pattington Island for three days before all twelve Floating Device were finally installed.
Imperial Merchant from Castleton Harbour also took the opportunity to come to Pattington Island, this time bringing with them two Propulsion Device and a human mage.
With all twelve Floating Device installed on the Three-Masted Sailboat, the Three-Masted Sailboat was about to enter its first test run. The Magic Rune Array of these Floating Device required a mage to operate them.
To be on the safe side, the old dwarf Maggs sent a human mage who lived on a ship in the harbor to this place to personally operate the twelve Floating Device.
The magician inserted Magic Crystal Stone one by one into the gem slots of the Floating Device. Roy and the Imperial Merchant stood side by side on the Lookout Platform at the top of the Ship Building, quietly watching the scene unfold before them.
"The first batch of Elementary Magic Herbs was loaded onto the ship and left port two days ago to begin its journey home," the Imperial Merchant told Roy.
"This entire shipload of Elementary Magic Herbs, if converted into Magic Crystal Stone, would be enough for you to modify three Magic Airship. We only brought thirty Floating Device with us to the Elf Continent this time, which can only modify about two Magic Airship for now. The remaining Floating Device may have to wait another year before they can be transported from the Dwarven Kingdom."
Roy turned to stare at the Imperial Merchant, who hadn't mentioned before that they could only modify two Magic Airship.
"How many Propulsion Device are there in total?" Roy asked.
"I brought ten of them this time."
"So, the existing Propulsion Device can accommodate five Magic Airship?" Roy asked again.
"Um!"
The Imperial Merchant never expected that Roy was actually a major herb supplier. Even if they put all their chips on the table, they couldn't match the value of the first batch of Magic Herbs.
Roy frowned and said, "I also bought a few Floating Device before. If I transport those Floating Device back, it will be enough to install about three Magic Airship. In addition, I need to install support frames on all the Three-Masted Sailboat so that I can use the Floating Device to transport them to other places. The modification project of these eleven Three-Masted Sailboat Three-Masted Sailboat continue."
"Alright, I'll have Maggs keep an eye on things here to ensure the quality of the renovation project!" the Imperial Merchant said tactfully.
Roy nodded.
At this moment, under the adjustment of the human mage, the Magic Rune Array of eight Floating Device were already running rapidly.
The immense buoyancy caused the entire Three-Masted Sailboat -Three-Masted Sailboat to shake violently, and then it slowly detached from the seawater and floated in the air...
