The cemetery was very quiet. High Priest Reed crouched in front of the grave, the nameplate lying flat in his palm.
"She neither returned to the Moon Goddess's embrace nor jumped into the Moon Well. She also refused to remain in the library when she died, yet she became a wraith in the cemetery. That really is a rare situation!"
High Priest Reed's gaze was gentle, and his tone calm.
"Why do you say that?" Exon asked curiously.
Another Elf Ranger leaned closer as well, wanting to hear High Priest Reed's explanation.
High Priest Reed sighed. "If she had borne immense resentment at the time of her death, this wraith would certainly have remained in the library. Yet her soul followed her body all the way to the cemetery and became a wraith here. It seems she still had deep feelings for the library, but because of some unresolved attachment, she was unwilling to enter the Moon Goddess's embrace."
Exon's heart stirred, and he asked tentatively, "So... her death had nothing to do with the library?"
High Priest Reed shook his head. "I can't confirm that for you. Let's see what else she can remember."
He turned his gaze toward the grave, straightened up, handed the nameplate to Roy, and extended both hands before him...
Normally, this sort of matter was the responsibility of the Moon God Temple priests. Perhaps because the deceased had been a Half-Elf, the Moon God Temple had been unwilling to help, which was why the two Elf Rangers had come to the Goddess of Freedom Temple.
It was Roy's first time taking part in something like this, and he did not know what he was supposed to do. He simply obediently stayed beside High Priest Reed and waited for instructions.
