Treasure Map
Apart from this largest cell, the rest of the Bottom Cabin consisted of rooms arranged along both sides of the corridor.
The corridor was filled with a layer of soft silt, which was dry enough that it did not stick to the feet. Under the Divine Light light, the traces of the seawater spreading up the wooden walls on both sides were still preserved, and some seaweed was still stuck to the bottom of the walls.
Roy emerged from the Bottom Cabin where the Naga mermaids were imprisoned and tried to open the hatches on either side of the corridor. When the ship was salvaged from the port, the Bottom Cabin was filled with seawater, and the supplies inside had not been moved.
Many rooms were filled with shelves, which were filled with large Wooden Box.
If the Bottom Cabin weren't used to imprison Naga mermaids, these rooms would probably be used for storing cargo.
Roy stood in front of the shelf, asked Abbott for a dagger, pried open a Wooden Box, and found it contained Fish Spear Shaft wrapped in oiled paper and wax. Each shaft was jet black and shiny, with one end riveted to the arrowhead and the other end attached to the tail feathers.
This metal Fish Spear Shaft is very heavy, and was clearly intended for Fish Spear mounted on the ramming post of a ship.
The room had three rows of shelves, each with four large Wooden Box, which looked like they contained these metal gun barrels.
As expected, it was a warehouse on the ship. Roy then went to check the other two cabins, and unsurprisingly, in addition to the gun barrels, Roy also found Barbed Arrow with Wolf Teeth, some of which were a foot long.
The tail feathers of this harpoon do not appear to be made of feathers; they look more like fish fins, embedded in a metal rod, with a swivel at the back for connecting the hook line...
Roy was surprised that the Elf Ranger at the port hadn't gone into the lowest level of the ship's hold. They probably thought the Bottom Cabin was filled with seawater and that it was impossible to store supplies there.
They actually kept these brand-new harpoons.
The Wooden Box was damp inside and out, and each oil paper package was wet. It probably needs to be dried out as soon as possible.
Not every Bottom Cabin contained supplies. The Bottom Cabin near the stairs contained many Wooden Box, but they were empty and clearly ransacked. Apparently, some Elf Ranger braved the stench of the seawater to search through several rooms in the Bottom Cabin, probably assuming Wooden Box Wooden Box were empty, and thus overlooked the rest of the Bottom Cabin.
Abbott looked at the dozen or so crates of harpoons and whispered to Roy:
What should we do with these things?
"Let's just leave it here... If no one mentions it, then it belongs to us."
After saying that, Roy came out of the cabin and closed the hatch, which was somewhat deformed from being soaked in seawater.
Actually, this ship has three decks. The Bottom Cabin is the second deck below the main deck, and there is an enclosed lower deck at the bottom. This lower deck is to ensure that the ship will not capsize even in the biggest storms, and it is filled with rocks for ballast.
Roy walked to a Bottom Cabin near the stern. It was in this room that the Naga assassin had opened a hole in the ceiling, led him into the bedroom above that only captain-level crew members were qualified to live in, and escaped the ship through the window.
A beam of light shone through the opening in the ceiling. This cabin was the most disorganized, with the wooden frame leaning against the wall already collapsed.
However, just as Roy walked away from the collapsed wooden frame, he discovered that there was still a painting hanging behind it. Although the painting had been completely submerged by seawater, the frame was still intact. Due to the long period of seawater filling the Bottom Cabin, the frame was about to fall apart, and the left side of the frame had completely separated.
"Many of the wooden planks here are rotten. If we renovate the Bottom Cabin in the future, these will all need to be replaced."
As he spoke, Roy reached out and touched the picture frame on the wall.
Roy didn't expect that just by casually touching it with his hand, the painting would completely fall apart and crash down.
This startled Abbott was standing nearby.
Roy walked towards the door, continuing, "The wooden planks on the outside of the hull were burned and coated with a thick layer of paint for protection against rot and insects. These shelves inside aren't so sturdy, you see..."
Abbott, holding the shimmering Divine Light in his hand, had already reached the wall and said to Roy:
"Roy, come quick and see what this is..."
Roy turned to look at Abbott and saw that the guy was standing on the stack of shelves, staring at the spot where the picture frame had fallen. There was a small storage compartment exposed in the wooden wall there.
Abbott had already drawn the dagger from his waist and pried open the wooden board sealing the storage compartment, revealing a small space.
After Abbott reached inside and groped around, he pulled out a sealed parchment tube, handed it to Roy, and then took out a leather pouch from inside.
The leather bag's rope was completely rotten. Abbott carefully lifted the bag with both hands, his eyes shining with a mixture of trepidation and excitement.
"Let's go up to the deck..." Roy felt that the place was a bit dark and not suitable for opening the sealed paper tube in his hand.
But whether it's a parchment tube or a leather bag, since it can be hidden in this secret compartment, it must have some value in being hidden.
The two ran up the stairs one after the other and saw Jasper still sitting at the bow of the boat in a daze, so they called him over...
This guy has been sitting at the bow of the ship for who knows how long; Tiffany obviously hasn't come.
Where have you two been?
Jasper saw the two men, covered in dirt, climbing up from the cabin below deck and asked curiously.
Abbott chuckled and boasted to Jasper, "We just re-examined the ship's Bottom Cabin and found these in a hidden compartment behind a shelf..."
As he spoke, he opened the leather bag right in front of the three of them.
Roy leaned closer and saw that the bag contained half a sack of black stones the size of walnuts, with wrinkles on the surface like those of walnuts.
I remember that the reward that Second Nerev gave to Jasper was this kind of black stone.
"My God, a whole bag of magic cores!" Jasper exclaimed dramatically, "We're rich..."
Abbott also said with a beaming smile:
"Haha, yesterday we were worried about where to get some money to repair this Great Sea Ship, and today we found a bag of magic cores! Roy, Roy, we're rich..."
"This thing is very valuable?" Roy didn't know much about magic cores.
Abbott and Jasper nodded repeatedly.
Jasper said with a delighted look, "Of course, this thing contains Magic Crystal Stone. Do you know how many Kole one Magic Crystal Stone can be exchanged for?"
Abbott immediately chimed in, "One Magic Crystal Stone can be exchanged for five hundred Kole."
Roy looked at the pocket full of magic cores and clicked his tongue, saying, "Wow, that's really worth a lot of money!"
"Roy, hurry up and see what's in the tube!" Jasper urged.
Abbott, sitting to the side, chuckled and said, "I hope it's a Treasure Map inside, detailing the wealth left to us by the ship's captain..."
Without saying a word, Roy placed the paper tube on the deck, picked up Abbott's dagger, cut open the wax seal on the edge of the tube, pried open one end of the tube with the tip of the knife, and poured the contents onto the deck.
It was a tattered Parchment Scroll, its surface not only yellowed, but also had many blackened edges.
But as soon as Roy unfurled a corner of the parchment, Abbott and Jasper simultaneously raised their hands and howled like wolves.
Because the pattern drawn on the parchment was clearly a nautical chart, what else could a nautical chart that was qualified to be hidden in a paper tube be but a treasure? Roy was also a little excited, and his hands were trembling slightly.
This was the first time he had ever encountered something like this...
Once the parchment was fully unfolded, a Treasure Map appeared clearly before the three of them.
Surprisingly, the Treasure Map contained a half-foot-long Golden Key, which felt quite heavy in the hand. The key was in the shape of a standard clover, with a golden tube at the other end. The tube was engraved with intricate patterns, which were very deep and exquisite.
Roy didn't pick up the Golden Key, but instead examined the somewhat tattered parchment chart. The chart was still relatively intact, but the parchment itself wasn't perfectly square. Some islands were hand-drawn on it, and the handwriting was very messy, so Roy couldn't understand much of it.
"Is this a Treasure Map?" Abbott leaned closer and asked excitedly.
"Maybe," Roy said, pushing the sheepskin Treasure Map in front of him.
Jasper also came over, holding the Golden Key in his hand, and said excitedly:
"In my opinion... we should use this money to repair this ship properly, and then set sail to find this treasure..."
Abbott looked at the Great Sea Ship, which was over sixty meters long, and reminded Jasper:
"Even if we repair this Great Sea Ship, I don't think the three of us will be able to sail it out of the harbor. We might as well just find a Flying Fish Boat at the dock; at least the three of us can operate it."
"Yes, then let's rent a Flying Fish Boat!"
Roy rolled his eyes and reminded the two whimsical Novice Priest:
"Captains, it's the rainy season now, and storms are common at sea. The Flying Fish Boat might be able to stay in the nearshore waters, but it probably won't be able to go any further..."
Abbott stared at the parchment chart, then suddenly realized something. Pointing to the Treasure Map, he asked Jasper and Roy, "By the way, do you guys know where this is?"
Jasper squinted and examined him for a while, then looked up at Roy with an expectant expression and asked:
"Roy, aren't you studying navigation at the Elf Academy? You should know that!"
Roy said, utterly speechless:
"Gentlemen... please note that I have only been attending classes at the Elf Academy for three weeks, and my elective courses are Elementary Martial Arts training, Elf Continent Geography, and Modern Elf History Elves. Therefore, I can only be certain that this place is definitely not near Castleton Harbour!"
"Oh..."
Jasper and Abbott sat down with expressions of disappointment.
