Background and History

Qingchu previously helped Uncle Li in Origin Sect's herb garden and memorized the Hundred Herbs Scripture. Because of this knowledge, she was assigned to attend the recuperating Lin Xiao at his residence near Encrusted Spirit Lake. She initially addressed him formally as “Sect Guest Lin,” but he encouraged her to call him Brother Lin instead. 33

Her large blue-green birthmark, caused by innate cold poison, made her deeply self-conscious. She habitually lowered her head and spoke timidly, having endured years of ridicule and mistreatment from senior disciples. Lin Xiao identified the condition as treatable and promised to remove it. 33 40

When Qingchu delivered Lin Xiao's massive medicinal order to Medicine Mountain, Princess Xiu, County Princess Jie, Miss Ya, and two male disciples assaulted and humiliated her. Lin Xiao intervened, protected her, and used his Consecration Token to secure the requested ingredients. The incident strengthened Qingchu's trust in him. 34 35

She accompanied Lin Xiao during the construction of the Pill Frying Furnace on Skyfire Peak, assisting him with daily tasks and worrying intensely while he cultivated amid dangerous flames. 35 36 37

Lin Xiao later prepared a medicinal powder from fire-attribute Fine Gold, exquisite jade, and spiritual herbs to remove her birthmark. After a month of treatment, the cold poison was expelled without scarring; she then took a Beauty-Nourishing Pill he reserved for her, leaving her skin fair and lustrous. 40

Qingchu's only friend besides Li Le was Little Qing, a sentient patch of moss on Medicine Mountain. When the moss became unstable from absorbed medicinal energy, Qingchu summoned Lin Xiao for help. He taught it the Wood Spirit Art, enabled its transformation into the girl Yaoying, and entrusted Yaoying to Qingchu's care. 41 42

Appearance

Qingchu is a petite girl, described as barely over four feet tall and appearing around thirteen or fourteen. Before treatment, her otherwise delicate face was marked by a palm-sized blue birthmark on her left cheek. 33

Personality

Qingchu is timid, deferential, and easily frightened, particularly around higher-ranking disciples. Her caution stems from prolonged bullying over her birthmark and her low status as a handyman disciple. 33 34 40

Despite this insecurity, she is compassionate and loyal. She saves spiritual fruits for Li Le, worries over Lin Xiao's safety, and treats Little Qing as her closest companion even when doing so risks punishment. 36 41 42

After her birthmark is cured, Qingchu becomes more resolute and self-assured, though she remains modest and emotionally sensitive. 40
