"What's going on? This isn't normal."
Lu Chen felt the flow of spiritual energy within his body and was deeply puzzled.
Although the stone stele's suction was immense, it felt like a battery that had already been fully charged.
Spiritual energy was the charge, and the stone stele was the battery.
"Wind Dragon, didn't you say it required an enormous amount of spiritual energy? Why does it feel like the spiritual energy being consumed now isn't even as much as what the Six Yang Palms that Split the Heavens used up?"
Wind Dragon looked at the stone stele and said, "This is definitely not normal."
As Wind Dragon watched the weakening suction, he circled the stone stele twice. After thinking for a moment, he continued, "Try putting in more force. I think it already has enough spiritual energy."
Bang... creak, creak, creak.
The moment Wind Dragon finished speaking, the sound of turning gears came from within the stone stele.
A phantom Innate Eight Trigrams Diagram appeared in the sky, spinning ceaselessly like a clock.
The phantom slowly projected itself onto the Tower of Time.
Lu Chen stared at the Innate Eight Trigrams Diagram before him, his brows tightly furrowed.
"It opened just like that? I've used up less than a tenth of my spiritual energy."
Wind Dragon was equally astonished as he looked at the phantom Innate Eight Trigrams Diagram.
He had heard of the Tower of Time back then, and he knew it was exceptionally difficult to activate.
"By rights, it should be open. But it really does seem a little too easy. And back then, there didn't seem to be anything like this Innate Eight Trigrams Diagram."
"There wasn't? Then how was it activated before?"
Lu Chen looked at the Innate Eight Trigrams Diagram on the Tower of Time, curiosity stirring in his heart.
Wind Dragon kept shaking his head. "The Innate Eight Trigrams Diagram didn't exist in the past. The Cultivation World has developed too quickly over these years—I only figured it out recently myself."
"Then let's go in and take a look. The Tower of Time is already open, and not going in would be a waste. Maybe we can even dig up some treasures."
Lu Chen strapped the Primal Chaos Greatsword to his back and cautiously approached the Innate Eight Trigrams Diagram.
He placed both hands against the wall and slowly turned the Innate Eight Trigrams Diagram.
Creak, creak... creak... bang.
A familiar suction force came from the Innate Eight Trigrams Diagram.
"Huh? This has the smell of a teleportation gate?"
"Oh no, that dizzy, disorienting feeling again."
Before his words had even faded, Lu Chen was sucked into the Tower of Time.
Ten seconds later, Lu Chen tumbled straight out of the teleportation array.
"Damn my luck, another teleportation array. Every time I run into one, nothing good ever comes of it."
Lu Chen cursed as he climbed up from the ground, briskly brushing the dust from himself with both hands.
"It's so dark here. Wind Dragon, where are you? I can't see."
"Walk forward. I'm right in front of you."
Wind Dragon's voice came from above Lu Chen's head, filled with confusion.
"What's going on? Time is still flowing normally. We didn't enter the Tower of Time."
Following Wind Dragon's voice, Lu Chen walked over to him.
He released a stream of spiritual energy from his left hand, and its glow lit up the surroundings.
"There's no flow? How is that possible? I clearly entered the Tower of Time."
"This place has the style of the Tower of Time, but why is there no time flow?"
Holding up the spiritual light, Lu Chen examined the area around him.
Just then, Lu Chen ran face-first into a wooden face.
"Ah... a ghost!"
Lu Chen instantly spun around and ran in the opposite direction. The entire sequence flowed as smoothly as drifting clouds and running water.
But after only a few steps, Lu Chen stopped.
"Huh? That's not right. I'm a cultivator—why should I be afraid of ghosts? And this is still my own world."
"Hahaha, Little Lu, you're killing me."
Wind Dragon circled through the air. Looking at the piece of wood behind Lu Chen, he was laughing so hard he was nearly out of breath.
"A cultivator is actually afraid of ghosts—and a wooden ghost at that. Hahaha!"
"Wind Dragon, you dare laugh at me? Just watch how I deal with you."
"Kamen Rider!"
Lu Chen summoned the Primal Chaos Greatsword and unleashed the newest move he had learned.
Wind Dragon immediately spiraled around, turning into a dragon-shaped disk that attached itself to the Primal Chaos Greatsword.
"Hahaha, Little Lu, let me go. I won't laugh anymore."
Feeling his body restrained, Wind Dragon hurriedly begged for mercy.
Yet a teasing expression was still brewing in his eyes.
"Hmph, now you know fear. Just wait."
Lu Chen clasped both hands around Wind Dragon's jade token, preparing to release him.
A tremendous wave of mockery suddenly burst from the Primal Chaos Greatsword.
"A cultivator was actually afraid of a piece of wood. Hahaha, just let me die—I really can't hold it in anymore."
By the end, Wind Dragon had become completely unscrupulous, crazily mocking Lu Chen.
Lu Chen's hand over the jade token began trembling without pause.
"You, you, you... just wait. Don't even think about coming out again today."
"Don't move. Even if I'm going to die, let me laugh myself to death first."
"Hahaha, cultivator, ghost, wood—I'm so scared."
Wind Dragon spoke in a bizarrely mocking tone, constantly imitating Lu Chen.
Listening to Wind Dragon, the muscles in Lu Chen's face twitched wildly. His face was turning slightly purple with rage.
"You, you, you... Kamen Rider!"
Unable to think of any other moves in the end, Lu Chen could only grip Wind Dragon's jade token with force.
Wind Dragon's phantom covered the Primal Chaos Greatsword.
Lu Chen gripped the Primal Chaos Greatsword with both hands and continuously swung it around with himself as the center.
As he spun, he muttered, "Let's see if I don't spin you to death."
"Do you surrender?"
"I don't surrender. You can do whatever you want—can't I even laugh?"
Lu Chen's sanity was already on the verge of collapse. "I'll ask you one more time. Do you surrender, Fetish Dragon?"
"Come on, come on, coward. Whoever chickens out is a grandson. Hahaha, I'm dying of laughter."
Seizing this chance, Wind Dragon finally pulled back a victory in their war of mockery.
Ten minutes later, Lu Chen and Wind Dragon had both been spun completely dizzy.
The Primal Chaos Greatsword flew from Lu Chen's hand, and Wind Dragon transformed back into his true dragon form.
"Urgh... do you surrender, Fetish Dragon?"
Lu Chen lay sprawled on the ground, vomiting while constantly thinking of ways to mock Wind Dragon.
"Bleurgh... how could I? I'm not like certain people who were actually afraid of a rotten piece of wood. Bleurgh... I'm dizzy to death."
Wind Dragon lay atop Lu Chen's head, and even between bouts of vomiting, he continued mocking him.
Just then, a tiny branch stretched toward Wind Dragon's head and continuously stroked him.
"Coward, don't use the Azure Emperor Divine Tree to scare me. I'm not like you—I'm not afraid of a piece of wood."
Wind Dragon swept the branch off himself with his tail, grumbling in displeasure.
The branch climbed back onto Lu Chen's shoulder and crawled upward step by step.
"Urgh... I didn't. Put your tail away first."
A breeze drifted past their ears.
"Heeheehee, it's me. Have you decided?"
Hearing the voice by their ears, Lu Chen and Wind Dragon looked up at the same time.
They instantly flashed backward.
"Who's there? I can see you!"
Lu Chen shouted fearfully toward the front.
"Hehehe, it's only been a few days, and you've already forgotten me?"
As the voice fell, a beam of light lit up from the center of the room.
Wind Dragon looked at the wood before him and fell into thought. "A piece of wood? It's just an ordinary piece of wood. What's so frightening about it?"
"No, it isn't wood. I know what that familiar feeling is now. Why are you here?"
Lu Chen swiftly summoned the Primal Chaos Greatsword and fastened Wind Dragon onto it.
Taking up a defensive stance, he shouted toward the front.
"Show yourself. I already know who you are. Stop playing ghost and pretending to be a spirit."
Lu Chen bent his knees slightly, holding the greatsword horizontally across his arms as he slowly approached the piece of wood.
"Hehehe, I'm not playing ghost and pretending to be a spirit. I came to bring you a gift."
A face appeared on the wood, with the Azure Emperor Divine Tree's tentacles on either side of it.
"What do you mean? What exactly do you want? I don't have anything you want."
Every word from the face shook Lu Chen deeply.
Whenever he needed something, the face appeared. And every appearance was so strange, so utterly without warning.
"I don't want anything from you. On the contrary, I can give you whatever you need."
"Just like this Tower of Time. You wanted to use it, so I came."
A breeze passed by. The face emitted a white glow that illuminated the entire room.
The room was nearly a hundred zhang wide.
Yet it was extremely empty, with only an enormous stone stele at its center.
A Small Planet rested atop the stone stele.
The planet was developing at a rapid pace. Time within it flowed nearly a thousand times faster than it did around Lu Chen.
Lu Chen stared at the Small Planet. "After saying all that, what exactly do you want? Do you only want me to agree to you?"
"Hehehe, I told you—I am you. As long as you have a need, I will appear."
"Just like now. You need the Tower of Time, so I came."
"We call it—the on-call 'Daddy Creation Project.'"
The face blew out a breath, and the time flow throughout the room gradually accelerated.
One spherical Small World after another began rising and circling around Lu Chen.
Lu Chen could clearly see that every Small World contained people living within it.
"Have you decided? Are you willing to bear the Myriad Worlds for me? With just one word from you, I can make it acknowledge you as its master."
The face blew out another breath.
A Small World swiftly appeared before Lu Chen.
"Without expending a single thread of spiritual energy, you can become the king of time. Just like me, you can freely control the flow of time in worlds."
"You can give it a try. I'll give this Small World directly to you. You can experience it for yourself."
"Give it to me? A planet?"
Lu Chen looked at the floating planet before him, excitement rising in his heart as his eyes began to grow hazy.
Wind Dragon on the Primal Chaos Greatsword noticed all this. He could already tell that the face was deliberately guiding Lu Chen.
"Little Lu, wake up. No one gives you benefits for nothing."
Watching Lu Chen being gradually guided by the face and approaching the planet, Wind Dragon kept shouting.
"Little Lu, wake up! He's tempting you."
"So noisy. I never expected you to be just as annoying as a child as you are when you're old."
The face blew a breath toward the Primal Chaos Greatsword, sending it flying away.
"Hm? You're tempting me?"
Lu Chen's consciousness was jolted awake, and his steps slowly began retreating.
