"Calculation," Tierra said. "Or rather, mathematical models."

"We may not be able to directly copy the experience and formulas of those who came before us, but we can apply the calculation models they constructed," Tierra said. "In other words, based on these calculation models, we can determine our own trajectories within the material, spiritual, and mental dimensions, then calculate the relative distance between ourselves and the Divine Origin, thereby planning our refining experiments."

"Take Professor Horace Slughorn as an example. Some time ago, he completed the calculations for the changing trajectories in his material, spiritual, and mental dimensions. Now, through calculations of those trajectories, he has determined that at 8:57 this morning, he should brew Alpha-36 solvent in an environment with gravitational acceleration of 3.7 meters per second squared and a temperature of twelve degrees Celsius," Tierra said. "However, if it were brewed in our original world, the brewing time for this solvent would be an infinite non-repeating irrational number. So we used the Room of Requirement to alter the length of time represented by a second, making the brewing time easier to control."

"Mm-hm." Hermione suddenly realized something. "Wait, every refiner needs to determine their own trajectory in the material, spiritual, and mental dimensions?"

"Of course," Tierra said with a nod.

"Then if I haven't calculated my trajectory, doesn't that mean I can't help at all?" Hermione asked.

"Of course," Tierra replied.

"Then why did I come here today?" Hermione asked somewhat indignantly, as though she thought Tierra was messing with her.

"To learn," Tierra said. "First, learn Professor Horace Slughorn's potion-brewing techniques. Second, after Horace Slughorn finishes brewing, have him explain the following calculations to you. Perhaps you can't personally refine a Philosopher's Stone, but
