"Their Father God and Mother God awakened from their slumber a few years ago and proclaimed the birth of a New Evil God. His birth will end this era and, according to His design, usher in a brand-new one," Professor Frolov said.
"You mean the end of the world?" Mitchell Megan asked doubtfully. "You suspect Mr. Tierra is that evil god?"
"I don't know." Professor Frolov shrugged. By then, they had entered the fishing boat's mess hall, where a pungent salty smell mixed with the stench of fish immediately hit them.
The mess hall was not very spacious. The wooden tables and chairs looked quite old, covered in scratches and stains. An old fishing net and several fishing tools hung on the walls, making the decor seem plain and simple.
The floor of the mess hall was somewhat greasy, as though it had not been cleaned in quite some time.
The smell of food and cooking fumes filled the air, making the entire space feel stuffy and poorly ventilated. The tablecloths were already tattered and covered in greasy food stains.
The kitchen was half-open, with used pots and bowls piled to one side. Traces of cooking still remained on the greasy stove.
The clock on the wall had long since stopped. Its hands rested on an indistinct number, as if no one had noticed it in a very long time.
Several crew members were seated in the mess hall. Their clothes were soaked with salt and fishy odors, their faces streaked with sweat and grease.
They sat around together, chatting and laughing loudly, with the occasional coarse burst of laughter. A few plates of home-style dishes sat on the table. Though simple, they appeared to be seafood freshly hauled from the sea.
