Background / History

Admiration Value is the core currency of Su Mu’s Goddess Worship System. Under the System’s normal mode, Su Mu may obtain it by any means that earn a goddess’s admiration, then spend it in the System Mall. The System’s special mode requires a contract with a goddess—such as a master-disciple relationship—and grants Goddess Gift Packs when that relationship produces gains. 1

Su Mu’s first point is awarded after Xiao Yue recognizes that his earlier assessment of Xiao Yan was correct. This first gain unlocks the System Mall. 5 6 From then on, Admiration Value becomes both Su Mu’s main purchasing resource and a practical fuel source for possessing and operating his puppet body. 27

Early gains are usually small, but the amounts rise substantially as Su Mu’s disciples grow stronger and become more convinced of his ability. Su Mu himself concludes that a disciple’s strength appears to raise the upper limit of Admiration Value they can provide. 70 157

By the time Xiao Yi Xian is being considered as a disciple, Su Mu’s total is approximately 480. After Xiao Yi Xian joins, receives cultivation resources, and begins training, his total later exceeds 1,000. 154 173

Acquisition

Normal Mode

Any method may be used to obtain Admiration Value, provided it results in a goddess’s worship or admiration. It is the currency used to purchase items in the System Mall. 1

Contracted Disciples

Su Mu most consistently earns Admiration Value from goddesses with whom he has formed master-disciple contracts. Their admiration is commonly prompted by:

• Demonstrations of Su Mu’s strength or swordsmanship. 26 50 51 157
• Gifts, cultivation techniques, and rare equipment suited to a disciple. 62 108 133 169 173
• Guidance that resolves a disciple’s weakness or improves her prospects. 10 137 169
• The disciples’ recognition of Su Mu’s ability as a teacher. 211 214

Uses

System Mall Purchases

Admiration Value unlocks and funds the System Mall. Its inventory includes cultivation resources, medicinal items, weapons, techniques, puppets, special flames, and unusual utility items. 6 8 154

Puppet Operation

Admiration Value can power Su Mu’s possessable puppet body when his own cultivation is insufficient. One point provides less than ten minutes of operation for the earlier puppet, making this an expensive emergency option. 27

After the puppet is upgraded to Dou King, Su Mu’s own five-star Dou Practitioner cultivation can sustain it for only seconds; he consequently becomes even more reluctant to spend Admiration Value on puppet use. 57

Resurrected True Body

The System permits Su Mu to exchange 10,000 Admiration Value for one minute of use of the Resurrected True Body. It also offers credit, but maintaining the body under that arrangement costs 10,000 Admiration Value per day. 8

Limitations

• Admiration Value must first be earned before the System Mall becomes available. 4 6
• High-end System Mall items are far beyond Su Mu’s early balance, despite the mall containing powerful techniques, strange fires, and other valuable resources. 8
• Su Mu cannot reliably force admiration; he notes that gaining it from talented disciples is difficult and requires him to continue proving himself. 52
• Puppet possession can rapidly consume either Su Mu’s cultivated power or Admiration Value. 27 57
• The Resurrected True Body’s cost makes permanent resurrection unattainable with Su Mu’s documented resources. 8
