After buying the wine, Uchiha Gen arrived at Orochimaru's residence only to find that Orochimaru was nowhere to be seen. Without standing on ceremony, he climbed in through a window, found a place to sit, and silently refined Chakra.
About half an hour later, Uchiha Gen heard movement outside. Opening the door, he found that Anko had arrived.
"Where's Sensei?"
"Not here."
"Sigh, I never thought Sensei would actually be passed over. What a surprise!"
Anko followed Uchiha Gen inside, then plopped down on a seat. She looked dejected, and her tone was equally dispirited.
"Is failing to become the Hokage's disciple really enough to upset you this much?" Uchiha Gen asked blandly.
"Hey, that's being the Hokage's disciple!"
Seeing how calm Uchiha Gen was, Anko became displeased. She sat up straight and emphasized her point.
"Then I suggest becoming Senior Minato's disciple. With Sensei Orochimaru's abilities, he should be able to make it happen."
"No, I don't want to."
Anko shook her head like a rattle drum. Compared to becoming the Hokage's disciple, continuing to be her teacher's disciple was more important.
"Alright, while Sensei Orochimaru still isn't back, let's go buy some things at the market."
"You can cook?" Anko looked utterly incredulous.
There really were not many men in this world who could cook.
"What did you think?" Uchiha Gen rolled his eyes.
"Right, you're the same as me..."
"So, what are we making tonight?"
Uchiha Gen rubbed his chin. "I heard Sensei Orochimaru likes eggs. How about oden tonight?"
"Sure, sure."
Anko was thick-skinned by nature. She had been despondent just moments ago, but at the thought of delicious food, she could not help swallowing, already lost in her fantasies.
"Let's go."
"Mm."
The two went to a nearby market, shop, and supermarket to buy ingredients.
