Background

Gen’s Two-Tomoe Sharingan was born from loss: it first awakened when his parents died in battle, then evolved after the deaths of his teacher and teammates. His parents had not awakened the Sharingan, leaving their household classified as a branch family and their residence outside the clan’s core area. 1 25

At thirteen, Gen entered the Third Great Ninja War with battlefield memories but little personal combat experience. Captain Uchiha Yashiro initially tried to keep him close for protection, but Gen refused special treatment and chose to operate alone. 2 On the battlefield, he began harvesting enemies’ souls and lifespans with the Soul-Soul Fruit, then used Soul Infusion to create his first Homies. 3 4

After the Battle of Kikyo Mountain, Gen assisted with the Uchiha’s cleanup and resettlement work before creating Zhurong, his first advanced Homie, by sacrificing a portion of his own soul and lifespan.
