Background & History

Lin Feng was originally a diligent young man from the 21st century who had been working through the night on his thesis. He awoke in the Great Xia Dynasty as an unpaid intern constable in Qingyang County, then immediately became trapped at the Mass Grave while pursuing the bandit One-Eyed Dragon with Old Wang. Cornered by a Living Corpse, he activated the Critical Strike System and used it to perfect the only martial skill he knew, the Basic Constable Saber Technique. 1 2

After beheading the Living Corpse, Lin Feng became a formal constable. He rapidly established himself in Qingyang County by killing Black Tiger Gang hall master Liu Mazi, resolving the Water Ghost case, defeating Zhao Hu, and eventually eliminating the Black Tiger Gang entirely. County Magistrate Zhao Dehai promoted him to captain, while the corrupt Li Gang was arrested for collusion with bandits and other crimes. 2 4 6 7 12

Lin Feng infiltrated Steward Zhang’s banquet after suspecting a Moon Worship Cult trap. He rescued Huang Fugui from the underground demon den, slaughtered the cultists and their Three-Eyed Demon Ape, then burned the chamber and its evidence to leave no witnesses. Lin Feng is a handsome nineteen-year-old man whose composed, deep eyes make him appear unusually experienced for his age. Chu Mengxi notes that he lacks the impulsive sharpness expected of a young prodigy, instead carrying an almost mist-shrouded calm. 15 23

Lin Feng is intensely strength-driven and treats demon-slaying missions as opportunities to accumulate Crit Points. He prefers direct action over prolonged negotiation, believing that a problem solvable with one strike does not require a second. 4 29

He is calm under pressure, neither deferential to authority nor easily provoked by threats. This composure lets him face the Demon Suppression Division, hostile cultivators, and powerful demons without exposing the full extent of his abilities. 15 18 45

Lin Feng is also ruthless and pragmatic. He killed the Skin-Peeling Demon despite knowing that its death would also kill Li Tianyu, and he eliminated assassins targeting Li Tianhe rather than interrogating them. 40 49 However, he considers himself bound by a personal standard: his blade should kill only demons and people who deserve it. 42

Romance and status do not interest him. He rejects Ling Yue’er’s pursuit because he is focused on becoming strong enough to kill an Immortal on Land with one strike. 41
