The gun on him was confiscated, he was handcuffed, and taken straight back to the Kansas FBI branch. By the time Jell woke up, he was already locked into an interrogation chair.
Jell looked startled and utterly bewildered. He moved his restrained wrists, looked at the branch director, then glanced at his familiar colleagues and asked in confusion, "Director Hayden, what is this? Why am I being arrested?"
The branch director narrowed his eyes and stared at Jell with an unfriendly expression. "Jell, I never expected you to do something like that. Now, tell us everything."
Jell's eyes flickered. He thought of all the rules he had broken before, including taking American Airlines' money this time to frame Jiang Hao. But why exactly had they arrested him? There were too many possibilities, and he did not know which one to confess to. He was afraid that the more he said, the more mistakes he would make.
"Director Hayden, I... I haven't done anything."
"Jell, do you think I'd arrest a senior FBI agent without evidence? You'd better not resist. You know what methods we use on people," Director Hayden said.
Jell naturally knew how the FBI tortured people. He had personally used those methods on quite a few people himself. He did not want to suffer, and besides, at worst he had only used his position for personal gain. That was not enough to get him killed.
"All right, I'll talk. Five years ago, when I was investigating the drug dealer Jerome, I took forty thousand US Dollars from him and let him go."
The branch director froze. There was something like that too?
"No, not that," Director Hayden said.
Jell's expression turned ugly. There were too many incidents, and he did not know what he was supposed to say.
