"Report: the massive meteor that might have landed in our country suddenly broke apart in midair. The fragments fell into remote areas of Russia, Siberia, Outer Mongolia, Kazakhstan, and other countries. There were no casualties. The alert has been lifted."
The director of the monitoring center reported to the leaders.
"It exploded? That's really good news. We had no confidence in intercepting it at all. Do we know why it broke apart?" a leader asked.
"We still don't know, but according to satellite monitoring, the meteor seemed to have been struck by an immense external force and shattered directly," the director said.
The leader was puzzled. "Could Russia have launched missiles or some other weapon?" he asked the person beside him.
"We haven't received any notice from the Russian side, and it doesn't seem to have been missiles. If missiles had been used, our satellites would have detected them."
