Jiang Hao returned to his room to sleep. Ma Xiaoling and Zhenzhen lay on the bed, and Zhenzhen looked at the sulking Ma Xiaoling.
"Xiaoling, what's wrong with you? Why are you angry with Brother Jiang? The moment he learned you were in danger, he rushed out to help you."
Ma Xiaoling said nothing.
In truth, she did not know why she was angry either.
Was it because of those things Jiang Hao had said?
Ever since Great-Aunt's death, she really had been lax in her cultivation. Though Great-Aunt occasionally appeared to nag her, she still did not work hard, and Great-Aunt had called her the weakest exorcist in the Ma Family.
What Jiang Hao had said would not actually have dealt her much of a blow.
Then what was it?
When he had suddenly appeared and defeated that monk in just two moves, Ma Xiaoling had even felt a trace of admiration for Jiang Hao.
This guy was more formidable than she had imagined.
And then—
Then Jiang Hao had reprimanded her.
At that instant, she had suddenly and inexplicably felt terribly wronged.
But why did she feel wronged?
She could not make sense of it either.
Her heart was in turmoil, tangled and complicated.
"Zhenzhen, I'm a little tired. I'm going to sleep," Ma Xiaoling said softly.
"Okay, go to sleep."
The room fell silent for a while. Then Ma Xiaoling suddenly said faintly, "Actually, I'm not angry at Jiang Hao. Maybe I'm angry at myself."
Zhenzhen moved closer and held Ma Xiaoling in her arms. Neither of them spoke again.
The next morning.
Jiang Hao was doing his morning exercises in the courtyard. After only a few breaths, he spotted a beauty in a miniskirt approaching through the morning mist.
"Why are you up so early today?"
