At dusk, the carriage entered a market town and stopped in front of an inn. Jiang Hao jumped down and reached out to help Lu Zhi alight. By then, Lu Zhi had changed into men's clothes and tied up her hair, looking like a handsome young gentleman.
The inn clerk hurried out to greet them.
"Prepare one superior room, arrange a room for the driver, stable the carriage, and make sure the horses are fed plenty of fodder," Jiang Hao instructed.
"I'll see to it right away. Please come in, honored guests," the clerk replied with a smile.
Their so-called superior room had a sitting area outside with a table. The inner room held a large bed resembling a tatami mat, only about twenty centimeters off the ground, covered with cleanly wiped straw mats.
