The two men before him were Themistocles, the naval commander who had won the Battle of Salamis before being exiled—the very man Scathach had happened to shelter—and Miltiades, the renowned general who had organized tens of thousands of Athenian Heavy Infantry, commanded the Battle of Marathon, and defeated the Persian army. Comparatively speaking, Miltiades was better at concealing his talents and handling people.

Thus, though he too had been sidelined by the Mount of the God of War after his great victory, he had not fallen as miserably as Themistocles, who was unpopular and foul-tempered.

At present, the two of them were Athens's finest pillars of sea and land. Having both been burned by the Mount of the God of War and plunged into the depths, they were only restored to office and entrusted with important duties after Samael, the sage king, returned.
