"What luck, really. Good thing Mordo refused to let me use the Temple Gate to get back to New York." Slipping the Sling Ring onto his finger, Shen Fei was extremely excited.
Kamar-Taj had gates connecting the three Holy Temples, allowing free travel between them, but only those within Kamar-Taj could use them.
No wonder he was so thrilled—having a Sling Ring versus not having one was a world of difference. With a Sling Ring, a Kamar-Taj mage could teleport anywhere in the universe, as long as their magical power was sufficient.
In the Endgame battle, hadn't Doctor Strange directly teleported back from Titan with Spider-Man, the fool, and the others?
"Plane ticket wasted, money down the drain." Using the Sling Ring, Shen Fei was back in New York in an instant. With such a convenient method, he couldn't be bothered to sit through a long flight.
"Truly a world where money makes the ghost turn the mill. With money, everything gets done." Even though he hadn't been back in two years, the house was as clean as ever, and the furniture was all brand new.
During those two years in Kamar-Taj, the New York house hadn't sat idle. From Kamar-Taj, Shen Fei had arranged through a law firm to rent it out, and before returning, he'd commissioned the same firm to renovate it.
"Room." After using the Op-Op Fruit's ability to thoroughly inspect the entire house, Shen Fei finally felt at ease and began practicing magic in the room.
"That Stark guy, always busy chasing skirts. It's a wonder Pepper stays by his side without leaving. And hey, if you've got time to chase women, at least build the Arc Reactor first." Watching the news show Tony Stark at the Stark Expo, arms around two women, with Pepper smiling beside him, Shen Fei couldn't help but roll his eyes.
Stark Group had a large-scale Arc Reactor powering the entire Stark Tower and showing off to the public. The company had always claimed they couldn't miniaturize it.
But considering Stark had built a small Arc Reactor by hand in a cave, that excuse was hard to swallow. The only real reason was probably that Stark was lazy now, or without a life-or-death crisis, he lacked the motivation.
Vanity Fair, Victoria's Secret—those were the places Stark frequented. He'd graced nearly every cover model of Vanity Fair for the year.
Stark alone kept countless tabloids alive.
After all, Stark had money.
"The Stark Expo is worth checking out." The expo, a tradition since Howard's time, was always a major event in New York. It showcased products from numerous high-tech companies, most of which ordinary people had never heard of.
Plus, if you had a good enough piece of technology, you could directly approach Stark Industries for investment.
Since he'd ended up in this world, Shen Fei naturally wanted to see it—there was plenty of cutting-edge tech and forward-thinking ideas on display.
"Pym Technologies." But before heading to the Stark Expo, Shen Fei needed to look up Hank Pym's address. As a former high-ranking S.H.I.E.L.D. member, his location was top secret, unknown to most. Luckily, Shen Fei's hacking skills were decent, and he found it in Pym Technologies' records.
After all, Hank's daughter worked at Pym.
Pym Particles had always been a target for S.H.I.E.L.D., or rather Hydra, given their wide applications. But since even Howard hadn't succeeded back then, and given Hank's seniority, even Hydra didn't dare move against him lightly.
It wasn't that Hydra was kind—it was that Hank was too important. If Hydra dared to touch him, they'd likely be exposed soon enough.
Why was Hydra so powerful? Not because of how long they'd existed or how many resources they had, but because they were parasitic on S.H.I.E.L.D., a UN organization, which gave them immense authority.
"Alexander was an idiot. An organization that can't see the light, and he had to drag it into the open. Ended up wiped out." Shen Fei thought Hydra was brain-damaged. They had all that power hidden inside S.H.I.E.L.D., but they had to jump out and try to rule the world with Project Insight.
The result? Hydra died the moment it saw the sun.
Without S.H.I.E.L.D., without the authority granted by the UN's five permanent members, Hydra was nothing. It looked strong, but it was just a flower in a mirror, a moon on the water.
And Project Insight was launched after Asgard and the Chitauri had already been exposed to everyone on Earth.
They never considered: even if Project Insight succeeded, what about the next alien attack? Would they just re-parasitize S.H.I.E.L.D. again?
And even if no aliens attacked, what if Insight's targeting locked onto Kamar-Taj? What if it locked onto the Ancient One? The result would be... heh.
"If I exposed Hydra's people now, Hydra would be finished. But S.H.I.E.L.D. would probably be done for too." After finding Hank's address, Shen Fei stood up.
Exposing Hydra now wouldn't benefit him at all. Instead, using his foreknowledge, he could accomplish a lot.
People like Daniel Whitehall and Gideon Malick—they were all wealthy and powerful figures.
"I really wouldn't have guessed this was Hank's home." An ordinary-looking villa. Most people would never imagine it housed the famous Dr. Hank Pym.
"Quite a few watchers. Good thing I have the Mirror Dimension, or this would be a real hassle." Through the Mirror Dimension, Shen Fei easily spotted the people hidden near Hank's house.
Why hadn't Shen Fei feared exposure when he went to Kamar-Taj earlier? Besides the wonder of magic, it was also to prepare for later. Using the Op-Op Fruit to analyze Pym Particles and recreate them was possible, but it would take a lot of time. If he could watch Hank work from the Mirror Dimension, though, that was different.
People in the Mirror Dimension couldn't interfere with the real world, but they could observe it. With enough food and supplies, he was sure he could see Hank making and using Pym Particles.
Without the Sling Ring, Shen Fei wouldn't dare try this. He could enter the Mirror Dimension without it, but he couldn't get out. He wasn't Thanos, strong enough to shatter the dimension.
"Carrying a tank around as a keychain—Hank's really something." Through the Mirror Dimension, Shen Fei quickly spotted the tank keychain and a box that looked like it held toy cars, all of which were real vehicles.
"Researching the Quantum Realm, huh." From the Mirror Dimension, Shen Fei could see Hank constantly studying Quantum Realm-related information. Also, Hank's relationship with his daughter Hope was terrible.
It was genuinely bad, not the fake kind from the Ant-Man movies. Hope didn't live with Hank, only visiting occasionally, since he was still her father.
Because of her mother's death, Hope had always blamed Hank.
"So many cameras, and all so tiny." Even the smartest spy would struggle to spot all these. Cameras shrunk with Pym Particles still worked perfectly.
Just like the shrunk cars.
