The Incident in Raccoon City (Part 1)

"Captain, why is this prisoner being transported to a place like this?" Rebecca asked, her face full of confusion as she looked at the contents of the warrant in her hand.

Although Raccoon City was prosperous, its geographical location was extremely remote. No matter how she looked at it, there was no reason for a criminal named Billy to be appearing here.

"That is indeed suspicious." Upon hearing Rebecca's words, the Captain immediately fell into deep thought. As the leader of Beta Team within the STARS unit, Enrico was a meticulous and sharp-minded man. His twenty-year career as a police officer made him vaguely sense that something was wrong with this mission.

"You have a point. Don't stray too far from me." After a brief silence, the Captain said this to Rebecca.

When the STARS team operated, they worked in pairs. Because Rebecca was a new recruit, a delicate girl, and a genius scientist, she had been paired with the Captain.

"Understood." After Rebecca nodded in acknowledgment, she immediately drew the pistol from her waist, preparing to enter the stationary train to conduct a search.

While Rebecca went inside the train to search, Enrico prepared to scout the exterior before going in to regroup with her.

"Who's there? Come out!" Just as Enrico was about to move, he suddenly felt that something in the surroundings was off. He immediately aimed his pistol at the rustling bushes nearby and shouted loudly.

"If you don't come out, I'm going to shoot." Enrico said, slowly advancing toward the bushes.

"What the hell is this?" After taking only a few steps, Enrico's expression changed instantly as he looked at the creatures appearing before him. Three Zombie Dogs stood in front of him; naturally, at this moment, Enrico did not know what these things were.

A foul, fishy stench was carried over by the wind, forcing Enrico to cover his nose. Just then, the three Zombie Dogs lunged at him from three different directions.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

As the Zombie Dogs made their move, Enrico immediately retreated rapidly while firing three shots at them. Enrico was worthy of being a member of the STARS unit; his three hurried shots slowed the movements of the three Zombie Dogs, allowing him to quickly scramble up a nearby tree.

"Captain, what happened?" Just then, Rebecca's voice rang out from the radio on his shoulder.

"Don't come out!" Enrico shouted urgently.

"Captain, ah!" A scream from Rebecca suddenly came through the radio, followed by the sound of a gunshot.

"Rebecca! Rebecca!" Hearing this, Enrico shouted loudly into the radio, but there was no response.

"Damn it!" Enrico grew anxious immediately. He aimed his pistol at the three Zombie Dogs below and fired continuously; he needed to save Rebecca.

Unfortunately, before he could deal with the three Zombie Dogs, the train suddenly started, carrying Rebecca away.

Enrico could only watch helplessly as the train departed.

"What on earth happened? Why did the virus leak?" Inside a beautiful and sprawling mansion within the Arklay Mountains, a young man in a white lab coat was shouting at Wesker.

"I don't know. The only thing we know for sure is that the Training Facility has fallen," Wesker said with a cold expression.

"Fallen? How could it? You need to find a way to resolve this; this place cannot be exposed."

"It's already too late. The higher-ups have decided to destroy that place, and this one as well. You should prepare to leave quickly," Wesker said calmly.

"What? We're abandoning this place too? My research is at a critical juncture; it's about to succeed!"

"These are orders from above. They have decided to use this opportunity to test the power of the B.O.W.s. The STARS team is already on their way here, and I need to go back and operate with them," Wesker said, then turned and left.

(B.O.W.: refers to Bio Organic Weapon.)

"Damn it, just a little more and I could have completed my latest virus. Then..." Watching Wesker's retreating back, the young man in the white coat had a flash of malice in his eyes.

"Dr. Abraham Erskine, once my G-Virus is complete, I will definitely surpass you."

If Shen Fei were here to hear this, he would have been even more surprised, as Dr. Abraham Erskine was actually linked to the Umbrella Corporation.

Who was Dr. Abraham Erskine? He was the man who created Red Skull and Captain America, the inventor of the Super Soldier Serum.

"Honestly, the people at Umbrella Corporation are sick. The company's business is clearly booming; why research bio-weapons? With that much manpower and resources, if they invested in medicine, they might have already cured cancer," Shen Fei muttered to himself while continuing to review the files on Raccoon City.

"With that kind of R&D capability, wouldn't it be better to develop power armor, Gundams, or Iron Man suits?" Shen Fei had never quite understood Umbrella's investment in bio-tech.

Bio-weapons were powerful, but they couldn't withstand modern military force. Hadn't he seen that the bosses in the Resident Evil games couldn't stop an RPG? At most, if one shot didn't work, you just fired another.

If they wanted to make money, Umbrella's current pharmaceutical business was already very profitable. Of course, it certainly wasn't as fast as selling bio-weapons.

If the side effects of the T-Virus could be removed and applied to the medical field, it would absolutely shine.

"Heh, the US government." While Umbrella was certainly the primary mastermind behind the Raccoon City crisis, the government played a huge role as well. Otherwise, how could Umbrella have researched bio-weapons for so many years without it leaking?

They even went as far as to use a Nuclear Weapon to flatten Raccoon City after the outbreak.

"I wonder how many people will actually survive in this city in the end." Walking down the street and looking at the smiling people around him, Shen Fei couldn't help but feel a sense of melancholy.

Although there had been multiple death incidents around Raccoon City, because the government's cover-up work was so effective, everyone else still believed that Raccoon City was a peaceful, prosperous, and happy city.

"So many dogs... how much do you people love keeping dogs?" Seeing many people walking their dogs on the street, Shen Fei frowned instantly.

Shen Fei didn't know much about the US Federal government. In his past life, he wasn't someone who could travel abroad; everything he knew came from the internet, American TV shows, and videos.

Dogs were fine under normal circumstances, but in a city about to face a bio-hazard, those were just future Zombie Dogs. Compared to slow-moving zombies, Zombie Dogs were much harder to deal with.

"Escaping through the mountains is impossible; that's where the most animals are. If they get infected, they'll be very difficult to handle. The only way out is probably the only passage connecting Raccoon City to the outside. If Umbrella has that guarded, then the only option is to leave through the underground laboratory."

With this thought in mind, Shen Fei headed toward the Police Station. According to his memory, Umbrella's laboratory seemed to be located beneath the Police Station.

Bang.

Just as Shen Fei turned from the street onto the road where the Police Station was located, he heard a gunshot, followed by people's screams and cries for help.

The shot gave Shen Fei a huge fright. He immediately dropped to the ground and activated the ability of his Op-Op Fruit. Through his experiments, Shen Fei had discovered that ordinary people couldn't see the energy sphere of the Op-Op Fruit, and he quickly crawled toward a parked car.

"That's my child! My child! You still haven't found the killer!" After hearing two more gunshots, Shen Fei heard someone ahead roaring.

"Stay calm! Put the gun down! We have been investigating!" Then, the sound of a megaphone blared.

"Is this really a father who lost his child?" After a brief exchange of gunfire, the father was taken away by the police.

"That was dangerous." Staring at the backs of the police officers, Shen Fei finally let out a sigh of relief, retracted his ability, and stood up from beside a car. Having lived for over twenty years in his past life, this was his first time witnessing a shootout in reality; it was truly completely different from what was shown on television or in movies.

"Are you alright?" Just then, a crisp and melodious voice rang out behind him. When Shen Fei turned his head to look, his expression immediately stiffened.

"Do you know me?" The tall woman, dressed in a red outfit with red high heels, asked with a smile after seeing the look on Shen Fei's face.

"I don't, it's just that you are very beautiful, miss." Shen Fei immediately spoke up.

Ada Wong—such a unique style of dress, combined with her beautiful appearance, allowed Shen Fei to recognize her instantly.

"Great, now everyone who is supposed to appear has appeared."

"Thank you. It's a bit dangerous here, so you'd better head home quickly." After leaving those words behind, Ada walked away.
