Bang. Bang. Bang.
The continuous gunfire immediately alerted Rebecca inside the villa. She quickly ordered Linna to take the others into the basement while she grabbed her weapon to confront the enemy.
Shen Fei offered to help, but Rebecca flatly refused. Her reason was simple: he was still just a child. As for the other adults, they had already started panicking in the current situation.
Jill and Rebecca weren't unaware that the villa held danger, but what choice did they have when there was no other safe place left in Raccoon City?
With Jill and Rebecca's skills, escaping would have been easy if it were just the two of them. But they couldn't bring themselves to abandon these children.
"Speaking of which, how did the original Rebecca escape Raccoon City?" After Rebecca went out with her weapon, Shen Fei headed straight to the armory at the deepest part of the basement.
There was no way he was going to hide in the basement and leave things to fate. If Rebecca died, he and everyone else in here would be finished.
With gunfire erupting all around, whoever was out there definitely wasn't friendly.
"Chris, you really outdid yourself." Looking at the fully stocked armory, Shen Fei's first grab was a military serrated competition knife. Unfortunately, the tactical vests were too big—he couldn't wear one yet.
"First, guns." With so many weapons laid out for him to choose from, Shen Fei quickly strapped on two thigh pouches and two waist pouches.
Then he picked up two automatic pistols: one standard, one Desert Eagle. For an ordinary person, using a Desert Eagle was out of the question, but Shen Fei clearly wasn't in that category.
Next came an automatic rifle, and then he loaded up on magazines. Too bad there were no grenades here, or he'd have grabbed a few.
After fully arming himself, Shen Fei reached for the weapon he'd wanted from the start: a Barrett Sniper Rifle. This was the best help he could give Rebecca right now.
"I wonder if a certain Ice Sniper is like this." As he carried the sniper rifle out, Shen Fei thought to himself.
Linna and the others outside the basement were stunned when they saw Shen Fei's gear.
Linna tried to stop him, but the relentless gunfire from outside made her let him go in the end.
"Damn it, what the hell are these things?" The Wolfpack outside the villa had planned to sneak in and take out STARS, but Zombie Dogs appearing out of nowhere ruined their plan.
Jill probably never expected to run into Zombie Dogs here.
Luckily, there weren't many farms around Raccoon City, so there weren't too many animals. Otherwise, that would have been a real nightmare.
A few Zombie Dogs were no match for the fully armed Wolfpack, but the gunfire gave away their position.
"A STARS little girl, huh. Didn't expect she had some skills." Through their helmet feeds, the Wolfpack quickly identified Rebecca during the exchange of fire. Their intel on her made them think she'd be easy to take down, but they had no idea what she'd been through in the past day and night.
Surviving that ordeal had completely transformed Rebecca. Even facing four elite Wolfpack members alone, they couldn't finish her off right away.
"Damn it, what kind of intel is this? Are you trying to get us killed?" Rebecca's profile was wildly inaccurate, and the Wolfpack Captain started cursing their superiors.
Faced with the Captain's outburst, Umbrella Corporation's higher-ups fell silent. Clearly, this scene shocked them too.
Watching Rebecca pinned down by enemy fire, her range shrinking, with multiple scrapes on her body, Shen Fei felt relieved he'd come out.
He set up the Barrett Sniper Rifle and began aiming at the enemy.
"Your turn." Activating his Op-Op Fruit ability, Shen Fei felt as if he had fully mastered every aspect of the Barrett in his hands.
Bang.
Focusing all his concentration, Shen Fei's first shot targeted the man carrying the heavy machine gun—the one who had been suppressing Rebecca the most.
Bang.
The moment the bullet hit the man's head, it exploded, blood and flesh flying everywhere. Shen Fei didn't see it, though; right after firing, he immediately moved with the Barrett.
Sure enough, the next moment, his previous position was raked with enemy fire.
"Good thing I watched those sniper documentaries." Because of the Ice Sniper, Shen Fei had once looked up the Barrett Sniper Rifle and watched some sniper documentaries. He'd forgotten most of it, but he remembered the most important rule: after firing, a sniper must relocate.
"Shit, where did a sniper come from? Are the higher-ups idiots? How did they miss something this important?" With one of their men dead, the Wolfpack immediately took cover. As top-tier mercenaries, they knew the sound and power of a Barrett all too well.
Being a sniper wasn't easy. You couldn't just hand someone a sniper rifle and call them a sniper.
Plus, the intel said there were only two people inside, but now there was a sniper.
The sudden sniper fire also startled Rebecca, but regardless, the sniper's appearance eased her pressure immensely.
"It's me." After the enemy ceased fire, Shen Fei said.
Bang. Bang. Bang.
Watching bullets hit the bulletproof vest in front of him, Shen Fei was startled. He had no idea how he'd been spotted despite hiding so well. If he hadn't prepared thoroughly, he might have been hit just now. To put it bluntly, he was afraid of dying.
Even so, a few bullets grazed past him, leaving scratches.
"Thermal imaging. Get back!" Just as Shen Fei was confused, Rebecca suddenly shouted.
"That advanced?" Rebecca's words immediately made Shen Fei realize how he'd been found. His lack of experience fighting regular soldiers was completely exposed.
"Are these houses too flimsy? If this were a Celestial Dynasty building, how could we be this passive?" The villa was entirely wooden, unable to withstand heavy firepower. At that moment, Shen Fei deeply missed the houses from his past life.
"Your bad luck this time." Thermal imaging was indeed hard to counter, especially against top-tier mercenaries. But that was for ordinary people. For Shen Fei, temporarily controlling his body temperature was doable.
After all, he had the Op-Op Fruit's ability.
"Gone. How is that possible?" After Shen Fei suppressed his body heat, one of the remaining three Wolfpack members outside couldn't help but exclaim.
"He might be near a refrigerator. Open fire."
Bang.
Just as the Wolfpack members opened fire near where Shen Fei had vanished, the figure who had already relocated to another spot fired directly.
Although this shot didn't hit the head, with Bullet's power, even if it struck the body and the target was wearing body armor, it was utterly useless.
"Four Eyes, damn it, retreat." With two men dead in a row, the Wolfpack Captain immediately wanted to pull back. They were just Umbrella Corporation mercenaries, risking their lives for generous pay. Now, with such a huge discrepancy in intel, they figured Umbrella was trying to stiff them on payment and get them killed.
"Wolfpack, what are you doing? Take him out now!" The Walkie-Talkie crackled with an urgent voice.
"You saw the situation. You need to give us an explanation. You said there were only some kids and a STARS member in there—why is there a sniper?"
Truth be told, Shen Fei's first bullet taking out one Wolfpack member was pure luck. Thermal imaging couldn't detect weapons, so from Wolfpack's perspective, only a kid had come out—and then tragedy struck.
Poor Wolfpack. In the Original Work, they carved a bloody path through Raccoon City, took down several Tyrants, and nearly killed Chris and Claire's people. Now they hadn't even done anything yet and had already lost two men.
"Fine, forget about this area. Go assist the other units in eliminating the Military's dispatched personnel. The payment will be issued to you as if for four men."
"Alright."
"Are you okay?" After Wolfpack retreated, Rebecca immediately came to Shen Fei's side, asking with concern.
"Just some minor injuries. What about you?"
"I'm fine."
"It's not safe here anymore. What do we do now?" Though the enemy had retreated, they definitely wouldn't give up. The next wave might bring more than just four people.
"Jill hasn't come back yet." Rebecca was at a loss too. With these children around, retreating anywhere was unsafe, and abandoning them to flee was out of the question.
"Hurry up and take out those soldiers, then destroy the City Hall records. Move it!" The heated battle inside Raccoon City had Umbrella Corporation's High Command panicking.
"Don't get bogged down. Get to the Laboratory quickly and extract William Birkin and the G-Virus." The Military also issued orders.
"But there are still many survivors here," the commander directly involved in the operation replied.
"That's not your concern. Someone else will rescue them. Just complete your mission." The Walkie-Talkie barked sternly.
"Yes, sir."
The Military's actions left Jill, who had crept close, completely stunned. She had thought these soldiers were the reinforcements Chris had reported in for rescue, only to overhear that they were actually after the virus.
The Military didn't care about civilian casualties. This scene was almost too much for Jill to believe, but reality was exactly that.
At the same time, a Helicopter flew over the villa where Shen Fei and the others were staying and airdropped a massive Iron Canister.
"You've got to be kidding me." Seeing the falling Iron Canister, Shen Fei was dumbfounded.
It wasn't just Shen Fei's location. Around the same time, ten Iron Canisters were airdropped across Raccoon City. Compared to the six in the Original Work, this time Umbrella had gone all out.
