Zhou Yi aimed his blade at the eerie creature before him, gathering all the Vital Energy in his body onto New Moon. The blade could barely bear it and began to tremble slightly.
Consumed by rage, Zhou Yi slashed at the eerie creature. The blade flashed, yet the creature actually dodged the strike, and the slash landed behind it.
With a thunderous boom, that slash cleaved the house apart. Zhou Yi promptly retreated beyond the doorway, but the eerie creature was not so fortunate. The collapsing house buried it beneath the rubble. With Zhou Yi guarding the entrance, it did not dare rush forward and flee the house, and could only let the building collapse onto its body.
Yet Zhou Yi's senses told him that the eerie creature was not dead. The cold, sinister aura beneath the ruins still remained, and its chill had not weakened in the slightest. It seemed the collapsing house had done it no harm at all.
Sure enough, a strange hand reached out from the rubble. But Zhou Yi had no intention of letting the eerie creature escape so easily, and he slashed at its outstretched hand again.
The strike hit the creature's hand directly, severing it and sending it to the ground. Black blood flowed from the wound. The creature howled in pain beneath the rubble, then crouched and sprang out right in front of Zhou Yi.
Once free, the eerie creature stared at Zhou Yi with a cruel expression, as though considering how to torment him in repayment for the harm he had suffered.
But Zhou Yi, who understood the creature's expression, merely slashed at it again with a cold face.
Seeing Zhou Yi's blade light coming at him, the creature dodged to the side and evaded the attack.
Then Zhou Yi saw that the blood at the creature's severed arm had already stopped flowing. A new hand grew from the stump at a speed visible to the naked eye. The creature raised the hand before its eyes, examined it, then clenched it into a fist and looked at Zhou Yi.
Yet when Zhou Yi saw this, not only did he fail to turn pale in shock—he burst into laughter at the creature instead.
"HAHAHAHAHA! I wouldn't be happy if you died that easily!!!"
The people nearby, however, shrank their pupils. They had no idea how to defeat an eerie creature that could heal its wounds so quickly. Then they heard Zhou Yi laughing. Could this young lord have been driven mad by the shock?
Very soon, Zhou Yi's actions shattered their train of thought. He pulled a blue talisman from his talisman pouch and affixed it to the blade. Once the blue talisman was attached, the blade stopped trembling. Instead, a faint white glow shone from its edge, as though declaring just how sharp the blade had become.
That was right. The talisman Zhou Yi had used was one of the three talismans he had learned: the Exorcism Talisman, an upgraded version of the yellow Evil Exorcising Talisman. It could greatly enhance a weapon's sharpness.
After attaching the talisman, Zhou Yi aimed the tip of his blade at the eerie creature once more.
"Seven Great Limits: Wind."
Countless gusts of violent wind gathered upon Zhou Yi's blade. In but an instant, the surroundings became calm again, as though nothing had happened.
Just as the people nearby thought Zhou Yi had failed to use his Spiritual Skill, he moved. First the blade tip trembled, then the blade itself, and finally Zhou Yi. He swung his blade at the eerie creature, his movements seemingly slow but actually swift, before anyone could react.
Countless violent gusts burst from Zhou Yi's blade and blew toward the eerie creature before him. Yet this wind seemed different from before. Specks of white light were mixed within it, as though they possessed boundless sharpness.
The violent wind quickly reached the creature. Countless white lights pounced onto its body, and whenever they touched it, they left behind a wound. Though each wound was small, there were far too many of them. Before long, dense wounds covered the creature's body, and threads of black blood began to flow from them. By now, the eerie creature had become a "blood" man.
The eerie creature howled miserably amid the violent wind. It tried to rely on its own speed to escape the wind's encirclement, but the moment it got out, the wind would strike first despite moving later, as though it had been waiting ahead for it.
Tormented by the violent wind, the pained creature collapsed to the ground.
Seeing this from afar, Zhou Yi casually waved his hand, and the violent wind vanished without a trace, leaving only the eerie creature howling in agony where it lay.
Do not misunderstand—Zhou Yi had not gone soft and intended to spare the creature. He was simply afraid the violent wind would kill it outright. That would be letting it off far too easily!
The people nearby were already dumbstruck at the sight, their jaws hanging open. Soon, they saw Zhou Yi stop the violent wind.
"Could that move have consumed too much of this lord's strength? Is that why he stopped? Does he need us to go up now?" they thought.
Then they saw the eerie creature, after being tormented by the violent wind, slowly rise to its feet. The wounds on its body began to vanish one by one. Yet with every fraction that disappeared, the creature's face grew a fraction paler. The people nearby failed to notice such subtle changes.
But Zhou Yi nodded as he watched the creature. It was indeed as he had guessed. How could there be an eerie creature in this world capable of healing its wounds endlessly? Every recovery consumed its own life force. Thus, the more severe its injuries, the more life force it consumed.
Seeing the violent wind disperse, the eerie creature thought the man before it had exhausted his strength. A cruel look immediately appeared on its face as it slowly walked toward Zhou Yi.
When Zhou Yi saw the creature walking toward him, he was initially puzzled. Then he understood. The creature probably thought his Vital Energy had been exhausted and that he no longer had the strength to defend himself. Yet Zhou Yi did not move. He merely withdrew the Vital Energy covering New Moon and silently watched the eerie creature draw closer.
When the onlookers saw the Vital Energy vanish from Zhou Yi's blade, they could not help inwardly gasping. Then they tightened their grips on their weapons, preparing to rush forward and rescue Zhou Yi.
Seeing that there was not the slightest trace of fear in the man's eyes, the eerie creature could not help feeling suspicious. But then it looked at the blade in Zhou Yi's hand. The color that had harmed it was already gone.
"So it was just putting on an act."
Seeing this, the creature became even bolder and walked toward Zhou Yi. But when it came within six steps of him, the man before it actually revealed a mocking smile.
A wave of terror rose in the creature's heart. How could this man be so despicable, deceiving it like this? It immediately wanted to retreat.
At that moment, a faint red glow rapidly lit up on Zhou Yi's blade once more. The people nearby stopped in their tracks as well. They had not expected this lord to be toying with the eerie creature.
"Seven Great Limits: Wind."
Zhou Yi softly spoke to the eerie creature before him again.
Violent wind gathered around Zhou Yi's blade once more. Then all fell still, and the blade began to tremble. Zhou Yi lightly swung at the eerie creature again, and countless gusts of violent wind, mixed with specks of white light, surged toward it once more.
