Background / History
Zhou Yi discovered a semi-transparent “Panel” after handling a corpse with Ling Liang. The Panel identified him as Human, tracked his attributes, and accumulated Yin Energy; no one else could see it. He recognized it as the modifier from his previous life and began testing its ability to enhance cultivation methods. 2 3 4
During Qingzhu Village's martial selection, Zhou Yi rapidly reached Minor Accomplishment in Primordial Pile. Xie Tong brought him before Patrol Team captain Qu Yong, the Village Chief, and the Talisman Master; Qu Yong subsequently accepted him as an apprentice. 5 6
He chose the saber and named his weapon Han Guang. In the Patrol Team storeroom, he learned that his weapons could absorb Yin Energy from Weirdness-tainted objects at a safe distance, allowing him to collect Yin Energy and strange Qi. 6 7
Zhou Yi later left Qingzhu Village for Luoshi City, having perfected his available foundational methods and fused body-refining arts into the Indestructible Golden Body. Qu Yong and Old Qin saw him off, and Qu Yong told him to return if he encountered trouble. 30
In Xieyang Village, Zhou Yi took in the mute beggar girl Yu Pei. He protected her with talismans and formations, promised to return for her, and eventually promised to be her family. 51 52 58
Personality
Zhou Yi is highly pragmatic about survival and cultivation. When choosing among Qu Yong's techniques, he immediately selected the defensive Jade Lock Skill because he wanted to “stack armor.” He consistently treats Yin Energy, cultivation manuals, and Weirdness-related objects as resources, but tempers that drive with caution when threats exceed his understanding. 8 20
He is protective toward people he accepts as his own. He cared for Qu Yong after their drunken apprenticeship celebration, worried over his master's injuries, buried the dead after clearing ruins, and took responsibility for Yu Pei's safety and belonging. 6 21 51 58
Despite his extraordinary growth, Zhou Yi recognizes his dependence on the Panel and remains wary of exposing his realm or forbidden Divine Ability. He deliberately concealed his Embrace Dan breakthrough from Luoshi City's higher-ups during a period of instability. 99 100 243
