After leaving the oasis region, the Kingdom of Karu's town "migrant" caravans were forcibly divided by the soldiers leading them into smaller groups of roughly a thousand people each. These scattered groups passed through the enormous teleportation gates set up along the oasis borders and traveled to kingdoms throughout the Faerun plane. Those small nations, without a word of complaint, allowed the people to enter their more populous towns and even cities. Every migrant was even assigned a house in a town and basic manual labor by the local kingdom.
Thus, a massive migration operation that was both spectacular and utterly silent was declared completely finished in barely a month. The people who left the Kingdom of Karu spent less than two days sleeping rough before gaining new homes, new neighbors, and new nationalities. Many farmers even found better jobs and moved into better houses than before.
Under such circumstances, the impoverished people, who had always regarded survival as their foremost goal and highest pursuit, naturally had no complaints. After a period of panic, everyone, including Anchino's parents, happily accepted the arrangements of the "noble lords" and began brand-new lives.
To the still-young Anchino, it merely meant moving from one shabby house into another beautiful one and meeting a group of new children to play with. Although her parents no longer farmed, their work hauling cargo at the docks still required them to work hard from nine to five. The course of their lives seemed not to have changed much.
In fact, because dock work paid a little more and prices in the new country were a little lower, Anchino's quality of life in her "new home" improved considerably. When she was ten, her parents even gritted their teeth and saved enough money to send her to a literacy class
