By the time they returned to the dormitory, it was already evening. Besides Luo Chen, there was someone unexpected inside: Gu Yuena.
"Na'er, why did you come to the boys' dormitory?" Gu Chen asked in surprise.
"Brother Chen, Hu Liena and the others dared to try to assassinate us. We can't just let this go. Want me to kill them for you?" Gu Yuena transmitted, her gaze filled with nothing but coldness—coldness directed at Hu Liena and the others.
"Don't worry. They won't live past today." Gu Chen gave a cold smile and replied through transmission.
"Since you have a plan, I'm relieved." Gu Yuena paused, then nodded.
"Actually, it was my fault too. If I hadn't blindly trusted Hu Liena and the others, we wouldn't have fallen into that situation. I'm sorry, Na'er," Gu Chen said apologetically.
Gu Yuena said nothing. She merely moved closer to Gu Chen. Startled, he kept backing away until his back struck the wall with a thud.
Gu Yuena continued approaching him, their bodies nearly touching. Gu Chen could feel her breath, and their eyes were less than five centimeters apart!
Could it be... could it be that she wants to...?
Gu Chen's face flushed red as an apple, and he closed his eyes.
"Pfft!"
Gu Yuena suddenly burst out laughing, took a step back, and said with a grin, "Do we need to say sorry between us?" With that, she left the boys' dormitory. As she departed, she even hummed a tune, looking exceptionally cheerful.
Looks like I got teased.
Gu Chen opened his eyes and touched his nose. Tiny droplets formed from Gu Yuena's condensed breath were still on it.
"Brother Gu Chen, you two are siblings! This..." Luo Chen looked at Gu Chen.
Gu Chen gave a mysterious smile. "Unfortunately, we're not blood-related siblings."
"Wow!" Luo Chen seemed to realize something, his face full of admiration.
"Alright, I need to go out for a while." As Gu Chen spoke, he walked out of the dormitory.
He did not go far. Instead, he leaped up along a steel pipe and climbed onto the roof of the five-story dormitory building. After confirming that no one was around, he took the Night Cloak from the System Backpack and draped it over himself.
In the distance, Thousand Jun Douluo frowned. "This cloak is truly strange. I can't sense his presence at all anymore. Wait, I... lost him?"
Suddenly, Gu Chen's body flickered, and he vanished from where he stood, leaving Thousand Jun Douluo utterly astonished.
Gu Chen knew Thousand Jun Douluo had been following him, but he still had no intention of letting Thousand Jun Douluo learn any of the System's secrets.
At the back mountain of Spirit Academy, Gu Chen quickly climbed to the mountaintop and sat cross-legged inside a naturally formed cave.
Even such continuous exertion could not make his powerful body sweat. After steadying his breathing, Gu Chen stretched out his right hand and tossed out a puppet.
The puppet transformed into Hu Liena's appearance as it flew through the air.
"Hu Liena" quickly left the cave and returned to the dormitory area of Spirit Academy.
"Brother!" Spotting Xie Yue in the distance as he was about to return to the dormitory, "Hu Liena" waved at him.
"Hm? Nana, didn't you return to your dormitory?" Xie Yue asked in confusion when he saw Hu Liena.
"Hu Liena" giggled. "It's not even Zi Shi yet. I don't want to sleep yet. Besides, it's really surprising that our assassination attempt on Gu Chen and the others actually failed."
Xie Yue nodded and said gravely, "Yes. I never expected Gu Chen to have a guardian following him. Even the former Saintess was unable to kill him."
"Brother, I heard there's an assassin organization hideout in the commercial district of Spirit City. Their martial souls grant them the ability to come and go without a trace. They'll definitely be able to kill Gu Chen before his guardian notices," "Hu Liena" said mysteriously after hearing Xie Yue's words.
Xie Yue's eyes lit up. "Really? Where?"
"Hu Liena" replied, "In the commercial district of Spirit City. Wait for me in an alley at the corner of the street. I'll go get Yan."
Xie Yue nodded. After telling "Hu Liena" to be careful, he headed toward the exit of Spirit Academy. He trusted "Hu Liena" completely. His own sister could never harm him, could she?
After watching Xie Yue leave with a smile on her face, "Hu Liena" headed toward Xie Yue's dormitory.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Yan was in an extremely foul mood after the morning's plan had failed. He had just smashed his own desk.
"Who is it?!" Yan opened the door and saw "Hu Liena" outside.
"Nana?" Yan was somewhat surprised, but he quickly restrained his emotions. He was Hu Liena's most loyal follower—more precisely, her lapdog.
"Yan, I have something I want to talk to you about. Do you have time to chat with me alone?"
"Hu Liena" lowered her head slightly, a blush appearing on her face. Her hands kept rubbing the hem of her clothes as she asked softly.
Nana... does she want to go on a date with me?
Yan's face reddened at lightning speed. His mind seemed to disconnect, leaving it completely blank.
"O-okay..." Yan replied instinctively.
"Hu Liena" looked delighted and said sweetly, "Then it's settled. At the third watch, I'll wait for you in the small forest behind Spirit Academy."
Before Yan could react, "Hu Liena" had already left.
Yan plopped down onto the floor and slapped his own face. Dazed, he muttered, "It hurts. This isn't a dream. Nana is really going to accept me?"
"Hu Liena" appeared again. Oh, no—she should no longer be called "Hu Liena" now. She should be called "Xie Yue."
Because the figure standing at the entrance to the girls' dormitory now bore Xie Yue's appearance.
Knock! Knock! Knock!
"Xie Yue" lightly knocked on the door. Hu Liena answered it.
"Nana, I have something to discuss with you. Can you come out?" "Xie Yue" asked upon seeing Hu Liena.
Hu Liena glanced inside the dormitory and said, "Brother, my roommate isn't here. She won't be back until tomorrow. Whatever it is, just tell me."
Upon hearing that, "Xie Yue" smiled. His smile was somewhat eerie. It was as though he were speaking to Hu Liena, yet also talking to himself. "Is that so? Then this will be much easier. Nana, won't you invite me in?"
"Oh, right, Brother, come in!" Hu Liena quickly stepped aside and invited "Xie Yue" into the dormitory.
Walking to the window, "Xie Yue" gazed at the moon outside and sighed. "The moon is so beautiful tonight! Nana, don't you think so?"
Hu Liena did not know what "Xie Yue" intended to do, but she still obediently walked in front of him. With her back toward "Xie Yue," she looked outside. "Yes, tonight's crescent moon is very beautiful."
"Xie Yue" smiled. "I just wonder whether your blood will be equally wonderful, whether it will dance just as beautifully."
"What?" Hu Liena abruptly turned around, only to find that Xie Yue was nowhere to be seen. In his place stood a metal puppet with an eerie, sinister appearance.
"Clamor and agitation~" The puppet let out an eerie and androgynous voice. Its metal claws viciously gripped Hu Liena's throat without the slightest hint of tenderness.
Countless threads burst forth, wrapping tightly around Hu Liena from head to toe. Her limbs were bound, while steel wires connected her to the puppet and every piece of furniture in the dormitory.
"Y-you, who are you?" Hu Liena struggled fiercely, yet she could not move at all. Her eyes were filled with terror, and tears of despair streamed down her face.
"Lifelike Death!" A familiar voice suddenly sounded from behind her. Hu Liena tried to turn around, only to discover that she had already lost control of her own body.
A Paper Crane had pierced through her heart and ruthlessly nailed her to the opposite wall. The Paper Crane had sunk several centimeters into the wall. One had to know that the wall was made of metal!
The aura of life continuously drained from Hu Liena. She could no longer struggle, her eyes turning vacant as her head drooped helplessly.
Blood gushed from her chest, flowed down along her collar, and pooled into a scarlet puddle on the floor.
Behind her, Gu Chen still wore the Night Cloak, though he had removed its hood, revealing those sinister eyes. He withdrew the Paper Crane, recalled the puppet, discarded the threads, then opened the front door and left the dormitory without looking back.
"Born small, died spectacularly!"
