Background / History

The Heaven Defying Sect recruits candidates through spiritual-root testing on a Trial Stele followed by a private assessment from Elder Xun Zang. Its standards do not rely on aptitude alone: Ning Ri, whose incomplete spiritual roots and impurity-filled acupoints had led other sects to reject him, was deemed especially suited to the sect because of his unusual condition. 1 2

Prospective disciples undergo further assessment at Kite Plaza. The trials include Xun Zang’s Heart Questioning and an illusory “True Trial”; despite their strange presentation, the latter chiefly evaluates character rather than combat strength.
