Where Is Everyone?

By the time Kaleidoscope returned to Gamma Colossus headquarters for the second time, a million Little Greys had been born there.

It had taken two hours in all. That was already remarkably fast.

Cultivating living beings was far more complex than making precision instruments. The process had to proceed step by step; it could not be completed in one stroke.

Otherwise, they would be piling up corpses, not creating life.

Fortunately, Little Greys were cheap to produce, and resources here were abundant. Kaleidoscope had brought back a vast quantity of supplies, allowing Jia Wen to build as many additional biosynthesis chambers as he could.

As more production centers came online and thousands of synthesis chambers operated at once, the Little Greys would multiply faster and faster.

"Good. Don't worry about the cost. If we don't use up the low- and mid-grade materials... we can't take them with us anyway," Kaleidoscope said with satisfaction.

Jia Wen nodded. "Did you... take another Four Emperors headquarters? In only two hours? Boss, you really are..."

Kaleidoscope waved him off. "Enough talk. Gather a group to come with me. We're heading for the next base."

"Tartarus still hasn't arrived..." Jia Wen said at once.

"I know," Kaleidoscope said calmly. "Tartarus exchanged coordinates with my planet again. He's still two hours away."

"Send a group of Little Greys with me first. Several of our people are badly wounded, Chi Xiang is barely alive, and we're short-handed..."

Jia Wen hurriedly ordered the Little Greys to assemble, then said with concern, "Boss, we don't have enough people. Let's wait for Tartarus to join us with the others before we move on."

"With so few of us, assaulting a Four Emperors headquarters is likely to cost lives even if its defenses are thin. It isn't worth it."
