Live Like the Sea

After making a fool of himself at the Execution Assembly and being driven out by the assembled Civilization Lords, Ming Rong returned to the Police Department.

It was a red star shaped like a tree. Celestial bodies were normally roughly spherical, but a powerful Unified Force had molded this one into a branching form.

High-temperature matter and fusion energy coursed through its jagged branches like bursting blood.

From afar, the stellar tree looked like an interstellar cloud from a supernova, frozen at its most beautiful and spectacular instant.

A planet was attached to the tip of each outstretched branch. Some were lifeless rock, some were worlds of ice and snow, and others were ocean planets.

Ming Rong returned to his lava-planet form and attached himself to the outermost crown.

Then an ivory-white Quantum Body, only a hundred meters tall, rose from the scarlet magma. This was his true body.

"Ming Rong, you're back... Hm? Are you really that angry? I can feel your killing intent," a teammate's voice sounded in Ming Rong's mind.

They could communicate across vast distances and sense one another's emotions.

Ming Rong said nothing. He shot up from the lava planet like a white meteor and hurtled into space.

He accelerated until he struck an ocean planet at nearly the speed of light.

Boom!

The impact sent monstrous waves surging outward. Fifty thousand meters of seawater were forced aside in an instant, leaving a vast, deep crater through which the seabed was visible to the naked eye.

"Whoa. You're furious. Looks like those Civilization Lords really bruised your pride this time." The silver sea roared as it spoke.

"What does my personal pride matter?" Ming Rong said indignantly. "Our civilization's dignity is priceless!"
